Towards the boundary between easy and hard control problems in multicast Clos networks
PublicationIn this article we study 3-stage Clos networks with multicast calls in general and 2-cast calls, in particular. We investigate various sizes of input and output switches and discuss some routing problems involved in blocking states. To express our results in a formal way we introduce a model of hypergraph edge-coloring. A new class of bipartite hypergraphs corresponding to Clos networks is studied. We identify some polynomially...

Design of synchronous generator two inputs regulator based on hinf control theory.
PublicationThe power system is highly nonlinear system, its dynamics depends on system network configuration, system loading… etc. To overcome the above mentioned difficulties and fulfill the performance requirements the different control methods are considered and tested for design of synchronous generator control system. Application of the H optimization method to synchronous generator regulator based on measurement of generator voltage...

The electrical properties mesurements of SOFC with Ce0.9Cu0.1O2-s functional layer
Open Research DataThe dataset includes the electrical properties mesurements of SOFC with Ce0.9Cu0.1O2-s layer. Samples were produced using aqueous soft chemistry methods (microemulsion method) and applied in form of a layer onto the anode of the commercial SOFC. The SOFC was working under biogas feeding at 750oC. The layers were sintered at 1100oC.

Defence in depth conception in nuclear power plants and requirements for instrumentation and control systems
PublicationThe aim of this article is to identify and discuss some issues of the safety systems’ design for nuclear power plants equipped with the light water reactors using a defence in depth (D-in-D) conception. Because the functional safety solutions play nowadays an important role for the risk control, the basic requirements for the instrumentation and control systems are specified with regard to relevant international standards. For...

Functional safety with cybersecurity for the control and protection systems on example of the oil port infrastructure
PublicationSafety and cybersecurity aspects consist of two different group of functional requirements for the industrial control and protection systems in the oil port installation. It is the main reason why the analyses of safety and cybersecurity shouldn’t be integrated directly. These article presented some important issues of the functional safety analysis with regard to cybersecurity aspects in the oil seaport infrastructure. The proposed...

Structure and electrical properties of Y, Fe-based perovskite mixed conducting composites fabricated by a modified polymer precursor method
PublicationIn this work, samples of Y0.07Sr0.93Ti1-xFexO3-d with 20, 40, 60 and 80 mol% of iron amount were prepared by a low-temperature polymer precursor method. The SEM-EDS analysis proved that analyzed Y0.07Sr0.93Ti1-xFexO3-d samples were composites of two Ti- and Fe-rich perovskite samples. This kind of composite consists of two phases in which one has a good ionic and the other electronic conductivity, which makes such a composite a...

Influence of Gd deposition on the oxidation behavior and electrical properties of a layered system consisting of Crofer 22 APU and MnCo2O4 spinel
PublicationIn the study, the surface of the Crofer 22APU ferritic steel was modified with gadolinium oxide nanoparticles and a protective-conducting layer consisting of the MnCo2O4 spinel. This system was studied in the context of application in IT-SOFC interconnects. Four types of samples were studied: unmodified steel, steel coated with a manganese-cobalt spinel layer, steel modified with gadolinium oxide nanoparticles, and a system consisting...

Redesign of the Research Platform for Monitoring, Control and Security of Critical Infrastructure Systems
PublicationCritical Infrastructure Systems (CISs) play a key role in modern societies. Their sustainable operation depends heavily on the performance of dedicated structures and algorithms targeting monitoring, control and security aspects. In previous work a Research Platform (RP) for the design and simulation of such systems was presented. This works updates the information on the RP through the description of major hardware and software...

Pounding mitigation of a short-span cable-stayed bridge using a new hybrid passive control system
PublicationThis paper investigates the effectiveness of a new hybrid passive control system on the seismic response of an existing steel cable-stayed bridge considering the pounding effect. The proposed hybrid passive control system comprises a seismic isolator and a metallic damper. The bridge is located in a high seismic zone and has suffered several damages including the earthquake-induced pounding damage during the 1988 earthquake....

Iterative learning approach to active noise control of highly autocorrelated signals with applications to machinery noise
PublicationThis paper discusses the design and application of iterative learning control (ILC) and repetitive control (RC) for high modal density systems. Typical examples of these systems are structural and acoustical systems considered in active structural acoustic control (ASAC) and active noise control (ANC) applications. The application of traditional ILC and RC design techniques, which are based on a parametric system model, on systems...

Proportional-Derivative and Model-Based Controllers for Control of a Variable Mass Manipulator
PublicationIn the paper, numerical analysis of dynamics of a variable mass manipulator is presented. A revolute joints composed manipulator is considered. Payload of the gripper is considered as the only element characterized by unknown value of its mass (variable between subsequent operations). As in other cases of the revolute joints composed manipulators, its behaviour dependents significantly on the pose of the manipulator. When the manipulator...

Application of Structural Control Systems for the Cables of Cable-Stayed Bridges: State-of-the-Art and State-of-the-Practice
PublicationStay cables are one of the key elements of cable-stayed bridges and are characterized by lightweight, low inherent damping, and high flexibility. They are continuously subjected to small-to large-amplitude vibrations due to various types of dynamic loads that may, in the long term, cause fatigue and fracture problems for the cable system, and may eventually compromise the safety of cable-stayed bridges. Thus, several countermeasures...

New Procedures for Control of Industrial Effluents Treatment Processes
PublicationThis work presents the procedures for monitoring volatile organic compounds during treatment of industrial effluents. The investigation was carried out for a specific effluent—caustic effluent from bitumen production. The developed procedures enable more detailed control of the effectiveness of wastewater treatment than standard procedures. Caustic effluents from bitumen production have a complex physicochemical form and consist...

Regulated Control of the Assembly and Diversity of LPS by Noncoding sRNAs
PublicationThe outer membrane (OM) of Gram-negative bacteria is asymmetric due to the presence of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) facing the outer leaflet of the OM and phospholipids facing the periplasmic side. LPS is essential for bacterial viability, since it provides a permeability barrier and is a major virulence determinant in pathogenic bacteria. In Escherichia coli, several steps of LPS biosynthesis and assembly are regulated by the RpoE...
