AN ATTEMPT AT IDENTIFYING THE INFLUENCE OF TEST HEAD ASSEMBLY STIFFNESS ON THE RESULTS OF A TRIBOLOGICAL EXPERIMENT CONDUCTED UNDER MICRO-OSCILLATION CONDITIONS
PublicationThe outcome of experimental research on a group of dry bearing materials carried out under small oscillation conditi ons and using a test rig designed and made at Gdansk University of Technology inspired the decision to find out if the stiffness of test head elements in fluenced the generated results. Therefore, a computer model utilising finite elements was devised and used to simulate the workings of the test head. The mode l...

Positive solutions to fractional differential equations involving Stieltjes integral conditions
PublicationIn this paper, we investigate nonlocal boundary value problems for fractional differential equations with dependence on the first-order derivatives and deviating arguments. Sufficient conditions which guarantee the existence of at least three positive solutions are new and obtained by using the Avery–Peterson theorem. We discuss problems (1) and (2) when argument b can change the character on [0, 1], so in some subinterval I of...

Positive solutions to second-order differential equations with dependence on the first-order derivative and nonlocal boundary conditions
PublicationIn this paper, we consider the existence of positive solutions for second-order differential equations with deviating arguments and nonlocal boundary conditions. By the fixed point theorem due to Avery and Peterson, we provide sufficient conditions under which such boundary value problems have at least three positive solutions. We discuss our problem both for delayed and advanced arguments α and also in the case when α(t)=t, t∈[0,1]....

Investigations of the Methods of Time Delay Measurement of Stochastic Signals Using Cross-correlation with the Hilbert Transform
PublicationThe article presents the results of simulation studies of four methods of estimating time delay for random signals using cross-correlation with the Hilbert Transform. Selected models of mutually delayed stochastic signals were used in the simulations, corresponding to the signals obtained from scintillation detectors in radioisotope measurements of liquid-gas two-phase flow. Standard deviations of the values of the individual functions...

Successive Iterative Method for Higher-Order Fractional Differential Equations Involving Stieltjes Integral Boundary Conditions
PublicationIn this paper, the existence of positive solutions to fractional differential equations with delayed arguments and Stieltjes integral boundary conditions is discussed. The convergence of successive iterative method of solving such problems is investigated. This allows us to improve some recent works. Some numerical examples illustrate the results.

Study of ultraviolet-visible fluorescence emission following resonant Auger decay of the 2p-1nl core-excited states of argon atoms
PublicationWe have studied the excitation and relaxation of Ar+ ions populated in resonant Auger decay from the Ar 2p−1nl core-excited states by using ultraviolet-visible fluorescence spectroscopy and photon-photon delayed coincidence technique. Fluorescence emission yields were measured in the photon energy range of 240-–255 eV for the 3s23p4(1D)5s(2D) → 3s23p4(1D)4p(2F) (393 nm) and 3s23p4(1D)4d(2F) → 3s23p4(1D)4p(2F) (335 nm) transitions...

Positive solutions to Sturm–Liouville problems with non-local boundary conditions
PublicationIn this paper, the existence of at least three non-negative solutions to non-local boundary-value problems for second-order differential equations with deviating arguments α and ζ is investigated. Sufficient conditions, which guarantee the existence of positive solutions, are obtained using the Avery–Peterson theorem. We discuss our problem for both advanced and delayed arguments. An example is added to illustrate the results.

The considered model is a modification of the model proposed by Mukhopadhyay and Bhattacharyya in [10]. Our system of delay differential equations reconstructs the HPT axis in relation to 24h profiles of human in physiological conditions. Homeostatic control of the thyroid-pituitary axis is considered by using...

We utilized a dorsal skin wound model to further evaluate this epigenetic inhibitor in wound healing. Full-thickness excisional wounds were made on the dorsum of 2 and 10-month-old healthy BALB/c and 3 and 8-month-old diabetic (db/db) mice, followed by topical or intraperitoneal zebularine delivery. Depending on the strain, age,...
