Modelling of Mechatronic Systems with Distributed Parameter Components
PublicationThe paper presents an uniform, port-based approach to modelling of both lumped and distributed parameter systems. Port-based model of distributed system has been defined by application of the bond graph methodology and the distributed transfer function method (DTFM). The proposed method of modelling enables to formulate input data for computer analysis by application of the DTFM. The computational package for the analysis of complex...

Post‐Second World War Reconstruction of Polish Cities: The Interplay Between Politics and Paradigms
PublicationBy the end of the Second World War, many of the Polish cities—and especially their historic centres—were in ruins. This was caused by both bombings and sieges conducted by the Nazis and Soviets. The particular group of cities is associated with former German lands—now called the “Recovered Territories”—which were incorporated into the borders of Poland as compensation for its Eastern Borderlands lost to the Soviet Union. These...

Regularized Local Multivariate Reduced-Order Models With Nonaffine Parameter Dependence
PublicationThis paper addresses a singular problem, not yet discussed in the literature, which occurs when parametric reduced-order models are created using a subspace projection approach with multiple concatenated projection bases. We show that this technique may lead to the appearance of localized artifacts in the frequency characteristics of a system, even when the reduced-order projection basis is rich enough to describe the original...

Optimum Control of Gyroscopic Systems
PublicationThe problem of optimum control of transverse rotor vibrations with gyroscopic interactions has been described and solved in the paper. An integral performance index has been defined for such system in order to minimize vibration level of a chosen rotor point. For this reason, an efficient way of finding the weight coefficients of integral performance index for multi-degrees-of-freedom system with gyroscopic interactions has been...

Implementing decisional trust: a first approach for smart reliable systems
PublicationIn this article, we introduce the necessary elements that must be integrated in order to achieve a decisional technology that is trustworthy. Thus, we refer to such technology as decisional trust. For us, decisional trust can be achieved through the use of elements such as the decisional DNA, reflexive ontologies, and security models; and therefore, we present in this article a framework that was used for the implementation of...

The constructed computer program enables the frequency domain analysis of a class of linear systems and to obtain reduced order model in the form of bond graph. Obtained modal bond graph can be directly exported into 20-Sim package to further processing including nonlinear...

Monotone iterative method for first-order differential equations at resonance
PublicationThis paper concerns the application of the monotone iterative technique for first-order differential equations involving Stieltjes integrals conditions. We discuss such problems at resonance when the measure in the Stieltjes integral is positive and also when this measure changes the sign. Sufficient conditions which guarantee the existence of extremal, unique and quasi-solutions are given. Three examples illustrate the results.

Comparison of Compact Reduced Basis Method with Different Model Order Reduction Techniques
PublicationDifferent strategies suitable to compare the performance of different model order reduction techniques for fast frequency sweep in finite element analysis in Electromagnetics are proposed and studied in this work. A Frobenius norm error measure is used to describe how good job a reduced-order model is doing with respect to the true system response. In addition, the transfer function correct behavior is monitored by studying the...

PublicationA new greedy multipoint model-order reduction algorithm for fast frequency-domain finite-element method simulations of electromagnetic problems is proposed. The location of the expansion points and the size of the projection basis are determined based on a rigorous error estimator. Compared to previous multipoint methods, the quality of the error estimator is significantly improved by ensuring the orthogonality of the projection...

Numerical Test for Stability Evaluation of Discrete-Time Systems
PublicationIn this paper, a new numerical test for stability evaluation of discrete-time systems is presented. It is based on modern root-finding techniques at the complex plane employing the Delaunay triangulation and Cauchy's Argument Principle. The method evaluates if a system is stable and returns possible values and multiplicities of unstable zeros of the characteristic equation. For state-space discrete-time models, the developed test...

Fractional Order Circuit Elements Derived from Electromagnetism
PublicationIn this paper, derivations of fractional-order (FO) circuit-element equations from electromagnetism are presented. Whilst many papers are devoted to FO modelling of electrical circuits, there are no strong foundations for such an approach. Therefore, we investigate relations between the FO electromagnetism and the FO circuit theory. Our derivations start from quasi-static (QS) approximations of Maxwell's equations in media with...

The main goal of the research is to develop a universal method of integration of various systems concerning any possible area of interest. The concept is based on creating a generic mechanism which would support the decision regarding the choice of the integration model. The most important tasks include: key factors...

The chosen model incorporates the surface strain energy as a quadratic function of the surface strain tensor and the surface deformation gradients up to Nth order. The virtual work principle, extended for higher‐order strain gradient media, serves as a basis for defining...

The existing higher-order, crosscovariances of complex spectral components are not sufficiently...

Geometry Parametric Model Order Reduction with Randomly Generated Projection Bases
PublicationIn this work, a reduced-order model for geometry parameters and fast frequency sweep is proposed. The Finite Element Method is used to solve time-harmonic Maxwell’s equations. Taking into account the electromagnetic field does not arbitrarily vary as a function of frequency and geometry parameters, a low dimension system manifold is identified. Thus, the original Finite Element problem can be approximated by a model of reduced...

Periodic Solutions of Generalized Lagrangian Systems with Small Perturbations
PublicationIn this paper we study the generalized Lagrangian system with a small perturbation. We assume the main term in the system to have a maximum, but do not suppose any condition for perturbation term. Then we prove the existence of a periodic solution via Ekeland’s principle. Moreover, we prove a convergence theorem for periodic solutions of perturbed systems.

From Knowledge based Vision Systems to Cognitive Vision Systems: A Review
PublicationComputer vision research and applications have their origins in 1960s. Limitations in computational resources inherent of that time, among other reasons, caused research to move away from artificial intelligence and generic recognition goals to accomplish simple tasks for constrained scenarios. In the past decades, the development in machine learning techniques has contributed to noteworthy progress in vision systems. However,...

It enables to obtain low order modal model of the system that experiences Coriolis acceleration component and gyroscopic effect. In such cases, corresponding system equations are non-self-adjoined. To solve this problem modal reduced model is built up for the system without Coriolis acceleration or gyroscopic effect terms. These phenomena are next included...
