Determination of the shape of the CFGFT cylindrical column based on laboratory tests
PublicationAnalyses were carried out on glass-fibre-reinforced polymer tube columns with reference to laboratory tests. The angles of the glass fibre beams were 20◦, 55◦ and 85◦. The study employed non-classical operational calculus. Various modulated harmonic signal shapes were considered for columns and tubes at buckling. The buckling loads were assessed and compared for different models.

MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF BOTTOM ASH – DREDGED MATERIAL MIXTURES IN LABORATORY TESTS
PublicationBottom ash from EC Gdańsk and dredged material taken from the mouth of The Vistula were mixed to form an engineering material used for dike construction. Mixtures with different bottom ash content were tested in laboratory to determine its basic physical and mechanical properties. The optimum bottom ash–dredged material mixture, built in the corps of the test dike, contains 70% of ash. The optimum bottom ash content in the mixture...

Load capacity of steel-aluminium brackets under static and cyclic laboratory tests
PublicationThe aim of the research is the laboratory investigation of steel-aluminium brackets employed to fasten lightweight curtain walls to building facilities. Static pressure, suction forces, and cyclic loads parallel to end plates (horizontal – to simulate wind influence) were applied in the study. The steel-aluminium brackets were tested on a reinforced concrete substrate made of C30/37 concrete class to simulate the real working conditions....

Analysis of compressive forces in CFGFT cylindrical pillars and their coatings using laboratory tests and metric spaces
PublicationThe article discusses compressive forces tests in composite-concrete pillars with the use of laboratory active experiment including the factors and properties of materials which have a significant impact on the test results and their repeatability. A polymer composite based on glass fiber reinforced resin with different fiber beam angles (20, 55 and 85) was used as a buffer/coat of the pole. Due to the problems with direct comparison...

Effect of bitumen characteristics obtained according to EN and Superpave specifications on asphalt mixture performance in low-temperature laboratory tests
PublicationThe paper aims to identify those characteristics of bitumen which have the greatest impact on asphalt mixture low-temperature performance. It was observed that stiffness and m-value of bitumen from BBR test were moderately related to stiffness and m-value of asphalt mixture obtained from 3 PB test. Simultaneously those rheological properties significantly impact on cryogenic stresses induced during TSRST test. The multiple regression...

Numerical analyses of novel prefabricated structural wall panels in residential buildings based on laboratory tests in scale 1:1
PublicationThe paper presents experimental and numerical investigations on novel prefabricated composite building wall panels for residential building constructions. The wall panels were composed of reinforced concrete ribbed elements with the core from the EPS foam as the thermal insulation. The wall panels in the full-scale 1:1 were subjected to vertical loads. In the first step, the experiments were analysed with simple usual static methods....

Small Vessel with Inboard Engine Retrofitting Concepts; Real Boat Tests, Laboratory Hybrid Drive Tests and Theoretical Studies
PublicationThe development of modern technologies and their increasing availability, as well as the falling costs of highly ecient propulsion systems and power sources, have resulted in electric or hybrid propulsions systems’ growing popularity for use on watercraft. Presented in the paper are design and lab tests of a prototype parallel hybrid propulsion system. It describes a concept of retrofitting a conventionally powered nine meter-long...

Application a laboratory stand for multi-symptoms tests for high cyclic fatigue of constructional material
PublicationThis paper describes a need of diagnostics present ship plants according to current technical state. In order to reach competent physical quantity describing fatigue of materials by congregated energy. This paper describes using some diagnostics methods (acoustic emission AE, vibration, thermovision, deformation) in order to definition fatigue state of construction material. The author tries to find correlation between measured...

Comparison of road and laboratory measurements of tyre/road noise
PublicationTyre/road noise is one of the major environmental problems related to road traffic. There are several measuring methods of tyre/road noise that may be carried out on the road (for example Coast-down and Close Proximity Method) or in the laboratory (Drum Method). Road measurements are preferred for evaluations of pavement properties while laboratory methods are mostly used to evaluate tyres. One of the biggest problems associated...

Mechanical properties of polyvinyl chloride-coated fabric under cyclic tests
PublicationThe aim of the present paper is to propose a method of laboratory tests necessary for the identification of mechanical properties of the coated fabric. The material parameters of the coated fabric AF 9032 are specified on the basis of the uniaxial and biaxial tensile tests. For the identification process, the techniques based on the least squares methods are used. Additionally, the uniaxial and biaxial cyclic tests are performed...

Mechanical properties of PVDF-coated fabric under tensile tests
PublicationThis article describes the laboratory tests necessary to identify the mechanical properties of the polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF)-coated fabrics named Precontraint 1202S and Precontraint 1302S. First, a short survey of the literature concerning the description of coated woven fabrics is presented. Second, the material parameters for PVDF-coated fabrics are specified on the basis of biaxial tensile tests. A comparison of the 1:1...

THE EFFECT OF NOTCH DEPTH ON CTOD VALUES IN FRACTURE TESTS OF STRUCTURAL STEEL ELEMENTS
PublicationIn elements of steel structures working at low temperatures, there is a risk of appearance of brittle fracture. This risk is reduced through the use of certified materials having guaranteed strength at a given temperature. A method which is most frequently used to determine brittle fracture toughness is the Charpy impact test, preformed for a given temperature. For offshore structures intended to work in the arctic climat e, the...

Laboratory test rig for examining aggregate mining from seabed using the AIRLIFT method
PublicationThe use of the Airlift method for transporting the mined aggregate from the seabed to the deck of the mining ship is an alternative for presently used solutions, such as suction pumps or scoop transport for instance. Building the laboratory test rig was preceded by tests in natural conditions. The rig was designed in such a way as to model these conditions as close as possible, and to have potential for further development
