The Palais–Smale condition for the Hamiltonian action on a mixed regularity space of loops in cotangent bundles and applications
PublicationWe show that the Hamiltonian action satisfies the Palais-Smale condition over a “mixed regular- ity” space of loops in cotangent bundles, namely the space of loops with regularity H^s, s ∈ (1/2, 1), in the baseand H^{1−s} in the fiber direction. As an application, we give a simplified proof of a theorem of Hofer-Viterbo on the existence of closed characteristic leaves for certain contact type hypersufaces in cotangent bundles.

Minimal Sets of Lefschetz Periods for Morse-Smale Diffeomorphisms of a Connected Sum of g Real Projective Planes
PublicationThe dataset titled Database of the minimal sets of Lefschetz periods for Morse-Smale diffeomorphisms of a connected sum of g real projective planes contains all of the values of the topological invariant called the minimal set of Lefschetz periods, computed for Morse-Smale diffeomorphisms of a non-orientable compact surface without boundary of genus g (i.e. a connected sum of g real projective planes), where g varies from 1 to...

Periodic expansion in determining minimal sets of Lefschetz periods for Morse–Smale diffeomorphisms
PublicationWe apply the representation of Lefschetz numbers of iterates in the form of periodic expansion to determine the minimal sets of Lefschetz periods of Morse–Smale diffeomorphisms. Applying this approach we present an algorithmic method of finding the family of minimal sets of Lefschetz periods for Ng, a non-orientable compact surfaces without boundary of genus g. We also partially confirm the conjecture of Llibre and Sirvent (J Diff...

Emergency condition of the ceramic facade of a residential building
PublicationThe paper presents a description of the technical condition of the ceramic cladding of a residential building, the technical condition of which deteriorated significantly after only a few years of operation. The analysis of the influence of the applied design and working solutions on the façade failure frequency was analyzed. The article presents a conceptual solution to bring the building to the proper technical condition in terms...

Influence of Property Division on the Technical Condition of a Building
PublicationIn this article, the correlation between a technical condition of a building and property division is analyzed and assessed. In the course of the usage of a building, the process of its degradation and the increase in the demands of property occupants can be observed. There is a direct connection between the difficult technical condition of a building and the fragmentation of the ownership structure. Although not considered in...

Database of the minimal sets of Lefschetz periods for Morse-Smale diffeomorphisms of a connected sum of g tori
Open Research DataMorse–Smale diffeomorphisms, structurally stable and having relatively simple dynamics, constitute an important subclass of diffeomorphisms that have been carefully studied during past decades. For a given Morse–Smale diffeomorphism one can consider “Minimal set of Lefschetz periods”, which provides the information about the set of periodic points of...

The use of spectrometric diagnostics in identification of the technical condition of tribological systems
PublicationThe paper presents, as an effect of the analysis of investigation results, a possibility of using the spectrometric diagnostics in the tribological system technical condition supervision arrangement. A model, based on the emission of solid particles in tribological system operation, allows to identify the system technical condition. After the analysis of tests carried out with the use of that model, it has been found that the content...

Condition-Based Monitoring of DC Motors Performed with Autoencoders
PublicationThis paper describes a condition-based monitoring system estimating DC motor degradation with the use of an autoencoder. Two methods of training the autoencoder are evaluated, namely backpropagation and extreme learning machines. The root mean square (RMS) error in the reconstruction of successive fragments of the measured DC motor angular-frequency signal, which is fed to the input of autoencoder, is used to determine the health...

Necessary and Sufficient Condition for State-Independent Contextual Measurement Scenarios
PublicationThe problem of identifying measurement scenarios capable of revealing state-independent contextuality in a given Hilbert space dimension is considered. We begin by showing that for any given dimension d and any measurement scenario consisting of projective measurements, (i) the measure of contextuality of a quantum state is entirely determined by its spectrum, so that pure and maximally mixed states represent the two extremes...

Simple sufficient condition for subspace to be completely or genuinely entangled
PublicationWe introduce a simple sufficient criterion, which allows one to tell whether a subspace of a bipartite or multipartite Hilbert space is entangled. The main ingredient of our criterion is a bound on the minimal entanglement of a subspace in terms of entanglement of vectors spanning that subspace expressed for geometrical measures of entanglement. The criterion is applicable to both completely and genuinely entangled subspaces. We...

CAPABILITY OF IDENTIFYING AND PREDICTING THE TECHNICAL CONDITION OF PLATE HEAT EXCHANGERS IN OPERATION
PublicationThe paper presents a test stand for plate heat exchangers, allowing to identify the technical condition and to predict durability of the heat exchangers used aboard the sea-going ships: ”Oceanograf”, ”Władysław Orkan”and a passenger-car ferry, under the condition that they are of the same type and manufactured by the same company. In the first part three different installations with plate heat exchangers in the engine rooms...

Performance of ASON/GMPLS architecture in condition of wavelength conversion and without wavelength conversion
PublicationThe paper regards the problem of ASON/GMPLS performance in condition of wavelength and without wavelength conversion. The authors present influence analysis in condition of wavelength and non-wavelength conversion on the ASON/GMPLS control plane performance represented by mean Connection Set-up Time E (CST) and request loss probabilities. The offered traffic to the transport layer and request intensity have been changed for evaluation...

Spectral Finite Element Method in Condition Monitoring and Damage Detection
PublicationIt is well known that the dynamic behaviour of engineering structures may carry very important and crucial information that can be further used for the assessment of their condition as well as detection of any damage induced. The current interest in monitoring techniques based on the propagation of guided elastic waves requires that numerical techniques used for modelling the phenomena associated must shift into the realm of high...

Applying of thin plate boundary condition in analysis of ship’s magnetic field
PublicationThis paper presents computer simulations of ship’s magnetic signatures using a new thin plate boundary condition implemented in the Opera-3d 18R2 program. The paper aims to check the magnetic signatures’ numerical calculations precision of objects using the thin plate boundary conditions and analysis of the magnetic signature of ship with a degaussing system and with and without inner devices.

Elastic wave propagation for condition assessment of steel bar embedded in mortar
PublicationThis study deals with experimental and numerical investigations of elastic wave propagation in steel bars partially embedded in mortar. The bars with different bonding lengths were tested. Two types of damage were considered: damage of the steel bar and damage of the mortar. Longitudinal waves were excited by a piezoelectric actuator and a vibrometer was used to non-contact measurements of velocity signals. Numerical calculations...

Using the ultrasonic tomography method to study the condition of wooden beams from historical buildngs
PublicationThe need to evaluate the integrity of wooden structural elements is constantly increasing. Non-destructive methods are becoming more popular in this field of research. One type of non-destructive testing is the ultrasonic imaging method, which allows the analysis of internal wood structures without disturbing their state and integrity. In this study, we are interested in assessing the effect of wood condition on the ultrasound...

POSSIBILITY OF IDENTIFICATION OF TECHNICAL CONDITION OF BEARINGS FOR SELF-IGNITION ENGINES BY APPLICATION OF ACOUSTIC EMISSION AS A DIAGNOSTIC SIGNAL
PublicationThis paper presents the results of empirical studies where the acoustic emission (AE) method was applied to identify the technical condition of sliding surfaces of main and crank bearings for main diesel engines. The test results indicate that the measurements of the AE parameters allow the technical condition identification for bearings of this type. The results refer to the measurements of the parameters for AE generated in the...
