Doing Well by Doing Good- CSR in a Global Context
PublicationNowadays, there is a general understanding that stakeholders are crucial for the successful enterprise. There is also a need to think about Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in a global context. Never before corporations enjoyed so much power and authority. Reliable OFDM Data Transmission with Pilot Tones and Error-Correction Coding in Shallow Underwater Acoustic Channel
PublicationThe performance of Underwater Acoustic Communication (UAC) systems are strongly related to the specific propagation conditions of the underwater channel. Horizontal, shallow-water channels are characterised by extremely disadvantageous transmission properties, due to strong multipath propagation and refraction phenomena. The paper presents the results of communication tests performed during a shallow, inland-water experiment with...

Economics of credit scoring management
PublicationCredit scoring models constitute an inevitable element of modern risk and profitability management in retail financial lending institutions. Quality,or separation power of a credit scoring model is usually assessed with the Gini coefficient. Generally, the higher Gini coefficient the better, as in this way a bank can increase number of good customers and/or reject more bad applicants. In...

Selected Features of Dynamic Voting
PublicationIn multi-agent systems composed of autonomous agents with local knowledge, it is often desirable to aggregate their knowledge in order to make an educated decision. One of the methods of agreeing to a common decision is voting. A new history-based dynamic weight protocol allows for identification of the agents which contribute to the correct system decision. The main advantage of this approach, compared to static weighted system...

Electron energy-loss spectroscopy of excited states of the pyridine molecules
PublicationElectron energy-loss spectra of the pyridine, C5H5N, molecules in the gas phase have been measured to investigate electronic excitation in the energy range 3.5–10 eV. The applied wide range of residual electron energy and the scattering angle range from 10 ◦ to 180 ◦ enabled to differentiate between optically-allowed and -forbidden transitions. These measurements have allowed vertical excitation energies of the triplet excited...

Also, in a case of expert group, the problem of inconsistent data annotations is an integral part of real-world supervised learning processes, well-known to researchers. One practical example is a weak ground truth delineation for medical image segmentation. In this paper, we have developed a new method of accurate...

PublicationThe paper introduces the method of the model reduction of systems that experience a Coriolis acceleration component. It causes that system equations are non-self-adjoined. To avoid such problem modal, reduced model is built up for the system without Coriolis acceleration terms which are next included by application of any lumping technique. Hence, the final reduced model is a hybrid one, obtained by both lumping and modal methods...
