Novel Vision Monitoring Method Based on Multi Light Points for Space-Time Analysis of Overhead Contact Line Displacements
PublicationThe article presents an innovative vision monitoring method of overhead contact line (OCL) displacement, which utilizes a set of LED light points installed along it. A light point is an, LED fed from a battery. Displacements of the LED points, recorded by a camera, are interpreted as a change of OCL shape in time and space. The vision system comprises a camera, properly situated with respect to the OCL, which is capable of capturing...

Comparing traffic intensity estimates employing passive acoustic radar and microwave Doppler radar sensor
PublicationThe purpose of our applied research project is to develop an autonomous road sign with built-in radar devices of our design. In this paper, we show that it is possible to calibrate the acoustic vector sensor so that it can be used to measure traffic volume and count the vehicles involved in the traffic through the analysis of the noise emitted by them. Signals obtained from a Doppler radar are used as a reference source. Although...

The Proposition of an Automated Honing Cell with Advanced Monitoring
PublicationHoning of holes allows for small shape deviation and a low value of a roughness profile parameter, e.g., Ra parameter. The honing process heats the workpiece and raises its temperature. The increase in temperature causes thermal deformations of the honed holes. The article proposes the construction of a honing cell, containing in addition to CNC honing machine: thermographic camera, sound intensity meter, and software for collecting...

FFT spectrum based matching algorithm for activedynamic thermography
PublicationIn Active Dynamic thermography (ADT) sequences of consecutive temperature distributions are analyzed. In biomedical applications of ADT, the problems of a patient's movements in front of a thermal camera should be eliminated before data analysis. Complete mechanical stabilization of the patients is impossible due to natural voluntary and involuntary moves caused by pulse breathing, etc. This paper presents a simple and efficient...

Powierzchniowa obróbka laserowa stopu Al-Si w warunkach kriogenicznych
PublicationPrzedstawiono sposób krystalizacji metali w warunkach wolnego i ultra szybkiego chłodzenia. Wykorzystanie wiązki lasera umożliwia szybkie nadtopienie określonej warstwy materiału metalicznego, a intensywne chłodzenie sprzyja tworzeniu struktur drobnokrystalicznych, quasi krystalicznych lub amorficznych. W tym aspekcie opracowano obróbkę powierzchniową stopu Al-Si, która w znacznym zakresie zmodyfikuje właściwości użytkowe wymienionego...

A SHORT REVIEW OF BLOOD FLOW MODELLING METHODS: FROM MACRO- TO MICROSCALES
PublicationThe aim of this paper it to review various scale approaches to the blood flow modelling. Blood motion may be described by three types of mathematical models according to the observed scales or resolutions, namely microscopic, mesoscopic and macroscopic descriptions. The above approaches are discussed together with their advantages and disadvantages. Several results of mesoscopic simulations are presented with particular attention...

The Palais–Smale condition for the Hamiltonian action on a mixed regularity space of loops in cotangent bundles and applications
PublicationWe show that the Hamiltonian action satisfies the Palais-Smale condition over a “mixed regular- ity” space of loops in cotangent bundles, namely the space of loops with regularity H^s, s ∈ (1/2, 1), in the baseand H^{1−s} in the fiber direction. As an application, we give a simplified proof of a theorem of Hofer-Viterbo on the existence of closed characteristic leaves for certain contact type hypersufaces in cotangent bundles.

An effective method for studying intermolecular interactions in binary liquids with hydrogen bonds: FTIR spectra and ab initio calculations in the N-methylformamide - methanol system
PublicationMolecular complexes in methanol (MeOH)−N-methylformamide (NMF) mixtures were studied based on their FTIR-ATR spectra, to which two methods of analysis were applied: factor analysis and a quantitative version of the difference-spectra method. The mean composition of a complex between NMF and MeOH molecules over the whole range of mixture compositions was determined. Absorbing species differentiated with regard to the interaction...

LC-MS and LC-NMR as Complementary Techniques for the Determination of Pharmaceuticals in Dosage Formulations
PublicationPharmaceuticals contain not only pharmacologically active compounds but also a range of excipients. The danger exists that impurities may also be present in such drugs, which may adversely affect their efficacy and even endanger patient health and life. Monitoring the composition of pharmaceutical products is therefore essential. The trace amounts of such impurities in pharmaceuticals are often identified and determined with liquid...

Explainable AI for Inspecting Adversarial Attacks on Deep Neural Networks
PublicationDeep Neural Networks (DNN) are state of the art algorithms for image classification. Although significant achievements and perspectives, deep neural networks and accompanying learning algorithms have some important challenges to tackle. However, it appears that it is relatively easy to attack and fool with well-designed input samples called adversarial examples. Adversarial perturba-tions are unnoticeable for humans. Such attacks...
