Energy consumption estimation of low-power devices using an integrating coulombmeter
PublicationThe main problem in designing devices powered with Energy Harvesting is an estimation of energy demand of low-power devices as well as quantity of energy provided by the selected energy transducer in the assumed work conditions. Due to the work characteristic of each block of the device and properties of the measured signal, measurement is not trivial. The paper presents the proposal of the micro-charge measurement device based...

Surface Roughness Evaluation in Thin EN AW-6086-T6 Alloy Plates after Face Milling Process with Different Strategies
PublicationLightweight alloys made from aluminium are used to manufacture cars, trains and planes. The main parts most often manufactured from thin sheets requiring the use of milling in the manufacturing process are front panels for control systems, housing parts for electrical and electronic components. As a result of the final phase of the manufacturing process, cold rolling, residual stresses remain in the surface layers, which can influence...

Selected Technical Issues of Deep Neural Networks for Image Classification Purposes
PublicationIn recent years, deep learning and especially Deep Neural Networks (DNN) have obtained amazing performance on a variety of problems, in particular in classification or pattern recognition. Among many kinds of DNNs, the Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) are most commonly used. However, due to their complexity, there are many problems related but not limited to optimizing network parameters, avoiding overfitting and ensuring good...

Interpretable Deep Learning Model for the Detection and Reconstruction of Dysarthric Speech
PublicationWe present a novel deep learning model for the detection and reconstruction of dysarthric speech. We train the model with a multi-task learning technique to jointly solve dysarthria detection and speech reconstruction tasks. The model key feature is a low-dimensional latent space that is meant to encode the properties of dysarthric speech. It is commonly believed that neural networks are black boxes that solve problems but do not...

Closing the gap – the opportunity for sustainability and smart transition in the Central and East Europe countries
PublicationFor almost half a century the countries of CEE were part of- or were remaining under the influence of- the Soviet Union what caused gaping difference in the starting line towards sustainability. Here the prefabricated concrete blocks of flats were being built at the scale unseen in the western countries. Those buildings, approximately a quarter of the residential market, are in a structurally sound condition to last another five...

A Generalized Version of the Lions-Type Lemma
PublicationIn this short paper, I recall the history of dealing with the lack of compactness of a sequence in the case of an unbounded domain and prove the vanishing Lions-type result for a sequence of Lebesgue-measurable functions. This lemma generalizes some results for a class of Orlicz–Sobolev spaces. What matters here is the behavior of the integral, not the space

Overview of the Synthesis and Catalytic Reactivity of Transition Metal Complexes Based on C═P Bond Systems
PublicationThis report provides an overview of the use of phosphaalkenes (C=P) in syntheses of various complexes. Going through successive complexes containing the d-block metals, we sought how this area of chemistry was formed over the years. Additionally, this work contains information on the possible coordination types and means of constructing the complexes. In addition, this review reveals the reactivities of phosphaalkene complexes...

APPLICATION OF ENTROPY-BASED METHODS TO DISTINGUISH HEALTHY INDIVIDUALS WITH NORMAL SINUS RHYTHM FROM PATIENTS WITH CONGESTIVE HEART FAILURE
PublicationIn this paper, we examined whether entropy-based methods are able to differentiate healthy individuals from patients with congestive heart failure. To this aim, we applied two methods: Permutation Entropy and Block Entropy. Long-term ECG recordings (75 000 RR intervals) were analyzed. The results proved that both methods can distinguish those groups on condition that the parameters are appropriately chosen.
