Frequent Sequence Mining in Web Log Data
PublicationThe amount of information available even on a single web server can be huge. On the other hand, the amount of visitors (users) can often reach a number of at least six digits. Users vary in gender, age and education, and in consequence their information needs are different. Moreover, they subconsciously expect to get more adequate content after visiting the first few pages. The scope of this kind of problem relates to the domain...

The System of the Supervision and the Visualization of Multimedia Data for BG
PublicationMonitoring of country maritime border is an important task of the Border Guard. This task can be facilitated with the use of the technology enabling gathering information from distributed sources and its supervision and visualization. The system presented in the paper is an extension and enhancement of the previously developed distributed system map data exchange system. The added functionalities allow supplementation of map data...

Data Acquisition in a Manoeuver Auto-negotiation System
PublicationTypical approach to collision avoidance systems with artificial intelligence support is that such systems assume a central communication and management point (such as e.g. VTS station), usually located on shore. This approach is, however, not applicable in case of an open water encounter. Thus, recently a new approach towards collision avoidance has been proposed, assuming that all ships in the encounter, either restricted or open...

Towards Open Research Data in the Economics Discipline
PublicationNowadays, Open Research Data, as one of the three pillars of Open Science (along with Open Access and Open Scholarly Communication), is gaining enormous attention from different academic and commercial environments. A wide range of scientific disciplines represent and produce different types of data and at the same time, gather different issues and problems in terms of sharing and dissemination research output. This chapter aims...

Toward Robust Pedestrian Detection With Data Augmentation
PublicationIn this article, the problem of creating a safe pedestrian detection model that can operate in the real world is tackled. While recent advances have led to significantly improved detection accuracy on various benchmarks, existing deep learning models are vulnerable to invisible to the human eye changes in the input image which raises concerns about its safety. A popular and simple technique for improving robustness is using data...

The image of the City on social media: A comparative study using “Big Data” and “Small Data” methods in the Tri-City Region in Poland
Publication“The Image of the City” by Kevin Lynch is a landmark planning theory of lasting influence; its scientific rigor and relevance in the digital age were in dispute. The rise of social media and other digital technologies offers new opportunities to study the perception of urban environments. Questions remain as to whether social media analytics can provide a reliable measure of perceived city images? If yes, what implication does...

Multibeam data processing for 3D object shape reconstruction
PublicationThe technology of hydroacoustic scanning offers an efficient and widely-used source of geospatial information regarding underwater environments, providing measurement data which usually have the structure of irregular groups of points known as point clouds. Since this data model has known disadvantages, a different form of representation based on representing surfaces with simple geometric structures, such as edges and facets,...

Description logic based generator of data-centric applications
PublicationThe knowledge stored in Ontology Management Systems (OMS) that originally has the form of expressions, can be seen as a user application specification or as knowledge provided by an expert. The generator of applications discussed in this paper is defined as a program that automatically generates an application that meets a certain specification stored in OMS. It is shown that it is possible to build a user interface for data management...

Visual Data Encryption for Privacy Enhancement in Surveillance Systems
PublicationIn this paper a methodology for employing reversible visual encryption of data is proposed. The developed algorithms are focused on privacy enhancement in distributed surveillance architectures. First, motivation of the study performed and a short review of preexisting methods of privacy enhancement are presented. The algorithmic background, system architecture along with a solution for anonymization of sensitive regions of interest...

Methods of trend removal in electrochemical noise data – overview
PublicationIn this paper we shall review popular methods of trend removal from electrochemical noise time records. The basic principles of operation of the six most popular methods are explained. The proposed methods are: high - pass filtering, Moving Average Removal, polynomial detrending, wavelet detrending, Empirical Mode Decomposition and Variational Mode Decomposition. Estimation of trend removal quality...

A New Approach For High Speed Data Transmission Monitoring
PublicationW artykule przedstawiono nowatorski sposób monitorowania szybkiej transmisji danych.

Seafloor Characterisation and Imaging Using Multibeam Sonar Data
PublicationThe approach to seafloor characterisation and imaging is presented. It relies on the combined, concurrent use of several techniques of multibeam sonar data processing. The first one is based on constructing the grey-level sonar images of seabed using the backscattering strength calculated for the echoes received in the consecutive beams. Then, the set of parameters describing the local region of sonar image is calculated. The second...

Pipeline geometry defects in high resolution pig's data
PublicationMost of the pipelines have been inspected at least once using intelligent pigging. The problem of specific software for interactive presentation, analysis and comparison of features revealed during the consecutive geometry surveys is emphasized. Capabilities of a simultaneous measurement of internal geometry and metal loss features in a single run are illustrated. Advantages of application of statistical characteristics of both...

Split-Beam Echosounder Data from Puck Bay
PublicationThe acoustic data was collected in 2018–2019 in the Bay of Puck in the seasons: autumn, winter, spring. The data was collected during the day and night using three split-beam echosounders with frequencies of 38 kHz, 120 kHz and 333 kHz at a designated study area not far from the city of Hel, while the ship was sailing. To ensure data quality, the echosounders were calibrated and passive noise was measured.
