Reducible representations of CAR and CCR with possible applications to field quantization.

A concept for reducing PM 10 emissions for car brakes by 50%
PublicationWith regard to airborne particles with an aerodynamic diameter of less than 10 μm (PM10), in countries in the European Union, the mass of brake emissions equals approximately 8–27% of the total traffic-related emissions. Using a research methodology combining tests at different scale levels with contact mechanics simulations and PM10 chemical characterization, the REBRAKE EU-financed project had the following aims: i) to demonstrate...

Interventions reducing car usage: Systematic review and meta-analysis
PublicationThis systematic literature review aimed to investigate the extent to which transport-related interventions induced a reduction in car use. Both qualitative synthesis and meta-analysis were employed. The synthesis included 31 original studies, while the meta-analysis included 21. Of the qualitatively synthesised studies, 74 % demonstrated that interventions were effective in reducing car use. The pooled estimates of the effects...

The influence of hard segment crosslinking on the morphology and mechanical properties of segmented poly(ester-urethanes)
PublicationPrównano właściwości i morfologie usieciowanych trójmetylolopropanem (TMP) i nieusieciowanych poliestrouretanów formowanych reaktywnie. W nieusieciowanych poliestrouretanach stwierdzono za pomocą AFM obecność agregacji domen segmentów sztywnych o wymiarze 70-380 nm. W usieciowanych poliuretanach zaobserwowano jedynie jednolicie rozmieszczone domeny segmentów sztywnych wielkości 20 nm. Właściwości mechaniczne wyraźnie różniły się,...

From a Point Cloud to a 3D Model - an Exercise for Users of AutoCAD and Revit
PublicationThe paper presents a proposal of the topic of an exercise for students of building faculties as part of classes on 3D modelling. The task consists in creating a three-dimensional model based on the measurement obtained with the Leica P30 laser scanner. Due to the maximum number of points in the cloud in the presented programs, the output files must be properly cleared and reduced. The point cloud was pre-processed in Cyclone software....

Chapter 32. Method to predict the critical micelle concentration of ionic liquids from the molecular volume

Molecular Dynamics to Predict Cryo-EM: Capturing Transitions and Short-Lived Conformational States of Biomolecules
PublicationSingle-particle cryogenic electron microscopy (cryo-EM) has revolutionized the field of the structural biology, providing an access to the atomic resolution structures of large biomolecular complexes in their near-native environment. Today’s cryo-EM maps can frequently reach the atomic-level resolution, while often containing a range of resolutions, with conformationally variable regions obtained at 6 Å or worse. Low resolution...

Carbon dioxide potential reduction using Start-Stop system in a car
PublicationOperating fuel consumption increases significantly when the vehicle stops frequently while driving or when the engine is idling during braking. In such cases, the internal combustion engine consumes the fuel but the mechanical energy is not used by the drive system. The amount of fuel that is consumed in this time by the engine can potentially be saved if the car is equipped with a Stop-Start system. Start-Stop system automatically...

The initial selection of parameters for dynamic brake for car engine test dynamometer
PublicationThe article presents an analysis of the car engine loads. The aim of the analysis was to determine the parameters of the brake / electric motor on an engine test bad. Analysis of loads on the driving tests concerned on chassis dynamo to simulate them on an engine dynamometer. To check the range of dynamometer shaft angular acceleration inertial mass of a car was reduced on the crankshaft axis. The calculations of maximum shaft...

Risks related to car fire on innovative Poroelastic Road Surfaces-PERS
PublicationTo reduce tyre/road noise, the concept of poroelastic road surfaces (PERS) was invented. PERS is a road surface material that is porous, and at the same time, it is flexible because of the substantial amount of rubber granulate content (from 20% to 85%). The rubber and stone particles are bound by polyurethane resin instead of bitumen. It was feared that in case of fire, because of the high content of rubber and polyurethane, there...

Performance Measurements of Real Time Video Transmission from Car Patrol
PublicationThe HSUPA technology application to video streaming from moving vehicle to the central server is presented in the paper. A dedicated software for transmission control in case of non public IP address is employed. Quality of video streaming in urban area was measured. Several car routes were investigated in the area of the Polish Tricity. Measurements pointed out that the real time streaming quality during vehicle movement is sufficient...

On the influence of shell element properties on the response of car model in crash test
PublicationIt goes without saying that numerical simulations play important role in the modern engineering practice. Contemporary CAD environments combined with FEM solvers, along with computer power of modern processors, give the engineer fast and efficient tool. Ultimately, however it is the user alone who is responsible for the correctness of the results. As long as the FEM calculations remain in the sphere of academic exercise, the inevitable...
