Self-compacting grout to produce two-stage concrete
PublicationTraditional concrete (TC) is primarily composed of a mixture of cement, fine and coarse aggregates, and water. TC is made by mixing together all the components before placing them. Using non-traditional concrete (two-stage concrete) to solve and to eliminate the problem of the aggregate segregation which appears in TC and in the self-compacting concrete. Two-stage concrete (TSC) consists of two main components, namely the grout...

Production of self-compacting concrete using limestone powder
PublicationAlthough there are visible signs of its gradual acceptance in North Africa through its limited use in construction, Libya has yet to explore the feasibility and applicability of self-compacting concrete (SCC) in new construction. The current study revolves around SCC made of locally available materials and the harsh environmental conditions. This paper deals with the investigation into the effect of the water to powder ratio and...

Unusual behavior of secondary amine group as a leaving group
PublicationIn our recent project we focused on reactivity of2,2-dimethyl-4,6-dioxane-1,3-dione carbamoilo- and thiocarbamoylo- derivatives as a ketenesource. Meldrum`s acid derivatives after thermal decomposition gives substituted keteneswith stoichiometric yield, that can be trapped with various spectrum of nucleophiles likealcohols, thiols, amine, imines etc. In case of5-[3-(dimethylamino)-sulfanyl-propyliden]-2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxane-4,6-dione...

Self Portrait with a Mask
PublicationPaweł SASIN - Self Portrait with a Mask “Every work of art is the child of its time, and, in many cases, the mother of our emotions. “ Wassily Kandynsky, Concerning the Spiritual in Art The two years 2020 and 2021 were marked by the COVID-19 pandemic – a lengthy period of time in which everyone felt in danger of losing one’s health or life. As a result, many people were experiencing negative emotion, becoming subject to psychological...

Self-standing Nanoarchitectures
PublicationDespite there are structures invisible for the human eye, they mastered the world of advanced electronic devices, sensors, novel cosmetics or drugs. When the dimensions of the materials go down to the nanometres scale, their properties change dramatically comparing to the observable objects. Because of their tiny size, they gained the name of nanomaterials but simultaneously their importance has significantly grown up. Nanomaterials...

The Self-employment of Women in Azerbaijan
PublicationAzerbaijan has a population of more than 10 million, of which women accounted for 50% in 2020. At the same time, 93% of Azerbaijan’s citizens describe themselves as Muslims. Since the beginning of independence, Azerbaijan has been a secular state by virtue of Article 48 of the Constitution, which guarantees the freedom of worship, choice, or non-practice of religion and the freedom of...

Self-competence and histrionic self-presentation style
Open Research DataThe database contains the results from N = 2642 respondents who answered demographic questions and completed two questionnaires measuring the general self-competence and the histrionic self-presentation style. The concept of self-competence is considered as a person’s perception of their own ability to behave such that tasks are successfully completed....

Influence of grout proportions on modulus of elascity of two-stage concrete
PublicationOmówiono badania doświadczalne przeprowadzone dla betonu dwuetapowego. Beton wykonano z kruszywa otoczakowego przy zastosowaniu trzech różnych proporcji w/c i c/p. Na drodze statystycznej opracowano prosty wzór umożliwiający wstępne szacowanie wartości siecznego modułu Younga. Ponieważ metoda dwuetapowa pozwala na zachowanie kontaktu pomiędzy poszczególnymi elementami kamiennego szkieletu wypełniającego formę, wytrzymałość uzyskanego...

Deep compaction control of sandy soils
PublicationVibroflotation, vibratory compaction, micro-blasting or heavy tamping are typical improvement methods for the cohesionless deposits of high thickness. The complex mechanism of deep soil compaction is related to void ratio decrease with grain rearrangements, lateral stress increase, prestressing effect of certain number of load cycles, water pressure dissipation, aging and other effects. Calibration chamber based interpretation...

Self-tuning adaptive frequency tracker
PublicationAn automatic gain tuning algorithm is proposed for a recently introduced adaptive notch filter. Theoretical analysis and simulations show that, under Gaussian random-walk type assumptions, the proposed extension is capable of adjusting adaptation gains of the filter so as to minimize the mean-squared frequency tracking error without prior knowledge of the true frequency trajectory. A simplified one degree of freedom version of...

Autorzy przedstawiają teoretyczne i metodologiczne...

Self Organizing Maps for Visualization of Categories
PublicationVisualization of Wikipedia categories using Self Organizing Mapsshows an overview of categories and their relations, helping to narrow down search domains. Selecting particular neurons this approach enables retrieval of conceptually similar categories. Evaluation of neural activations indicates that they form coherent patterns that may be useful for building user interfaces for navigation over category structures.

Self-defence work of wooden construction

Self-Optimizing Adaptive Vibration Controller
PublicationThis paper presents a new approach to rejection of sinusoidal disturbances acting at the output of a discrete-time linear stable plant with unknown dynamics. It is assumed that the frequency of the sinusoidal disturbance is known, and that the output signal is contaminated with wideband measurement noise. The proposed controller, called SONIC (self-optimizing narrowband interference canceller), combines the coefficient fixing technique,...

The database of odd algebraic periods for quasi-unipotent self-maps of a space having the same homology group as the connected sum of g tori
Open Research DataThe dataset consists of 20 files indexed by numbers g=1,...,20. Each file provides sets of odd algebraic periods for all quasi-unipotent self-maps of a space having the same homology groups as the connected sum of g tori. Let us remark that each data set covers all algebraical restrictions that come from zeta functions for the sets of minimal Lefschetz...
