Pharmaceutical applications of surfactants
PublicationIn this study we focused on biological activity of various surfactants. According to our research, they con act both as carriers as well as therapeutic agents. Depending on their concentration, they can create different structures in a solution, which influence their properties. Liposomes have a significant role in drug delivery system. Surfactants in from of bilayer are analogous to natural biological cell membrane.

Similar concentration of surfactants in rural and urban areas
PublicationSince surfactants are used in various products, they end up in surface and wastewater. Surfactants may therefore impact ecosystems and living organisms. Actually, only few anionic surfactants and some alkylphenols are regulated. There is no comprehensive evaluation of surfactants in the atmosphere, surfaces and waters of areas of increasing anthropic levels. Here, we measured the levels of cationic, anionic and nonionic surfactants...

Surfactants: a real threat to the aquatic geoecosystems of lobelia lakes
PublicationLobelia lakes are valuable elements of the natural environment. They are characterised by low trophy, mainly in-forest location and a high transparency of water. However, similarly to other surface waters, they are subjected to increasing anthropogenic pressures, a good indicator of which is the level of surfactants, also called surface-active agents (SAAs). The aim of the study was to evaluate the intensity of anthropogenic pressures...

Modeling the Influence of Salts on the Critical Micelle Concentration of Ionic Surfactants
PublicationWe show for the first time that a phenomenological, augmented volume-based thermodynamics (aVBT) model is capable to predict the critical micelle concentrations of ionic surfactants, including ionic liquids, with added salts. The model also adjusts for the type of salt added by including its molecular volume, which might form a connection to the Hofmeister effect. The other physico-chemically relevant quantities included in the...
