Dynamic Tests and Technical Monitoring of a Novel Sandwich Footbridge
PublikacjaA novel sandwich composite footbridge is described in this paper, for the first time after it has been put into operation over the Radunia River in the Pruszcz Gdański municipality. This paper presents results of dynamic tests and describes technical monitoring of the footbridge. The dynamic tests were conducted to estimate pedestrian comfort and were compared with the ones from numerical simulations made in the environment of...

On rotational instability within the nonlinear six-parameter shell theory
PublikacjaWithin the six-parameter nonlinear shell theory we analyzed the in-plane rotational instability which oc- curs under in-plane tensile loading. For plane deformations the considered shell model coincides up to notations with the geometrically nonlinear Cosserat continuum under plane stress conditions. So we con- sidered here both large translations and rotations. The constitutive relations contain some additional mi- cropolar parameters...

Prediction of cast-in-place concrete strength of the extradosed bridge deck based on temperature monitoring and numerical simulations
PublikacjaThe work is devoted to the implementation of a monitoring system for high performance concrete embedded in the span of an extradosed bridge deck using a modified maturity method augmented by numerical simulations conducted by the authors’ FEM code. The paper presents all research stages of bridge construction and considers the conclusions drawn from the results of laboratory tests, field measurements, and numerical calculations....

Examination of selected failure criteria with asymmetric shear stresses in the collapse analysis of laminated shells
PublikacjaThe paper is concerned with failure analysis of composite shells performed with the usage of the nonlinear 6‐parameter shell theory with drilling rotation degree of freedom. This special theory embodies naturally unlim-ited translations and rotations and is suitable for analysis of irregular shells for instance with various, partic-ularly orthogonal, intersections. The presence of the drilling rotation is inherently accompanied...

On analysis of double-impact test of 1500-kg vehicle into w-beam guardrail system
PublikacjaEvery day on roads many scenarios of accidents may occur. One of the measures to minimize their consequences is road safety barriers. Finite Element analyses are being increasingly used to support the physical testing of these devices. The paper addresses the issue of a secondary impact into the previously damaged w-beam guardrail system. This situation belongs to one of the most dangerous which can happen on roads and may cause...

Zaawansowane studium stref zakotwienia systemu podwieszenia Mostu Uniwersyteckiego w Bydgoszczy, cz.I

Can we really solve an arch stability problem?
PublikacjaWe bring attention to the problem of solving nonlinear boundary-value problems for elastic structures such as arches and shells. Here we discuss a classical problem of a shear-deformable arch postbuckling. Considering a postbuckling behaviour of a circular arch we discuss the possibility to find numerically a solution for highly nonlinear regimes. The main attention is paid to the problem of determination of all solutions. The...

Numerical Analysis of Mice Carotid Arteries’ Response Emphasizing the Importance of Material Law Constants’ Validation
PublikacjaIn this paper, a detailed validation of the passive material properties of mice carotid arteries and constants of the Fung and Holzapfel hyperelastic material laws is conducted by means of static nonlinear FEM analyses. The response of the carotid arteries in an inflation test is studied here for the following mouse models: wild-type, mdx, sgcd−/−, Eln+/+, Eln+/−, Fbln5+/+, and Fbln5−/−. All FEM computations are conducted on models...
