Umożliwić to ma identyfikację potencjalnych źródeł toksyczności w analizowanych próbkach. Niestety, znalezienie wyraźnych korelacji pomiędzy wynikami analiz chemicznych oraz oszacowanymi parametrami toksyczności nie jest prostym zadaniem i nastręcza wiele trudności.
