Cross sections for ionization and ionic fragmentation of pyrimidine molecules by electron collisions
PublikacjaThe electron impact mass spectroscopy and the total ion collection measurements were used to investigate the ionization and ionic fragmentation of the pyrimidine, C4H4N2, molecules in the gasphase. The cation mass spectra were measured in the 10−85 amu range and the observed mass peaks assigned to corresponding ionic fragments. The most abundant cation in the mass spectra is the parent cation, C4H4N+2, at 80 amu. The appearance...

Theoretical and Actual Feed Per Tooth During Wood Sawing on an Optimizing Cross-Cut Saw
PublikacjaThe work presents the geometries of circular saw teeth, whose task is to divide the cross-cut of the cutting layer. For efficient machining on a cross-cut saw with high feed speed values (about 1 ms−1) maximal theoretical feeds per tooth are determined. These values were compared with the actual values determined during transverse cutting of pine wood on a special test stands in industrial conditions. In the experiment the rotational...

Kontekst kulturowy w projektowaniu środowiskowym = Cultural context in environmental design

Phytoplankton communities of polar regions–Diversity depending on environmental conditions and chemical anthropopressure
PublikacjaThe polar regions (Arctic and Antarctic) constitute up to 14% of the biosphere and offer some of the coldest and most arid Earth's environments. Nevertheless several oxygenic phototrophs including some higher plants, mosses, lichens, various algal groups and cyanobacteria, survive that harsh climate and create the base of the trophic relationships in fragile ecosystems of polar environments. Ecosystems in polar regions are characterized...

Torsion of restrained thin-walled bars of open constant bisymmetric cross-section
PublikacjaElastic and geometric stiffness matrices were derived using Castigliano's first theorem, for the case of torsion of restrained thin-walled bars of open constant bisymmetric cross-section. Functions which describe the angles of torsion were adopted from the solutions of thedifferential equation for restrained torsion. The exact solutions were simplified by expanding them in a power series. Numerical examples were taken from Kujawa...

Optimum number of actuators to minimize the cross-sectional area of prestressable cable and truss structures
PublikacjaThis paper describes a new computational method for determining the optimum number of actuators to design the optimal and economic cross-sectional area of pin-jointed assemblies based on the conventional force method. The most active members are selected to be prestressed to redistribute stress in the whole structure, resulting in regulating the internal force of bars that face high stress. Reducing stress in critical members allows...
