A New Approach to Stability Evaluation of Digital Filters
PublikacjaIn this paper, a new numerical method of evaluating digital filter stability is presented. This approach is based on novel root-finding algorithms at the complex plane using the Delaunay triangulation and Cauchy's Argument Principle. The presented algorithm locates unstable zeros of the characteristic equation with their multiplicities. The proposed method is generic and can be applied to a vast range of systems. Verification of...

On Sample Rate Conversion Based on Variable Fractional Delay Filters
PublikacjaThe sample rate conversion algorithm based on variable fractional delay filters is often used if the resampling ratio cannot be expressed as the ratio of small integer numbers or if it is not constant. The main advantage of such solution is that it allows for arbitrary resampling ratios which can even be changed during the resampling process. In this paper a discussion on influence of different approaches to fractional filter...

Zero-Pole Space Mapping for CAD of Filters
PublikacjaIn this paper, we propose a new space-mapping technique tailored to the CAD of microwave filters. The goal of space mapping is to achieve a satisfactory design with the minimal number of fine model evaluations. In our approach, the filter is represented by a rational function. To quickly align the coarse and fine models, and to speed up the direct optimization of the coarse model, we propose matching the zeros and poles of a rational...

Prowadzi to do znacznego zmniejszenia kosztów numerycznych implementacji w zastosowaniach wymagających częstej zmiany opóźnienia...

Generalized temperature dependence model for anammox process kinetics
PublikacjaTemperature is a key operational factor influencing the anammox process kinetics. In particular, at temperatures below 15 °C, the specific anammox activity (SAA) considerably decreases. This study aimed to describe the temperature dependence of the anammox process kinetics in the temperature range from 10 to 55 °C, including the specific characteristics of“cold anammox”. The commonly used Arrhenius and extended and modifiedRatkowsky...

Effect of organic nitrogen concentration on the efficiency of trickling filters
PublikacjaThe study was conducted in Poland at six selected wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) based on the trickling filters Bioclere® technology. The aim of the study was to find the relationship between the influent organic nitrogen concentration and the purification efficiency expressed as effluent COD concentration. In the tests performed, the COD to BOD5 relationship was close to 2 and the ratio of BOD5 to TN was lower than 4. The...

The Design of Cavity Resonators and Microwave Filters Applying Shape Deformation Techniques
PublikacjaThis article introduces shape deformation as a new approach to the computer-aided design (CAD) of high-frequency components. We show that geometry deformation opens up new design possibilities and offers additional degrees of freedom in the 3-D modeling of microwave structures. Such design flexibility is highly desirable if the full potential of additive manufacturing (AM) is to be exploited in the fabrication of RF and microwave...

Ladder-Based Synthesis and Design of Low-Frequency Buffer-Based CMOS Filters
PublikacjaBuffer-based CMOS filters are maximally simplified circuits containing as few transistors as possible. Their applications, among others, include nano to micro watt biomedical sensors that process physiological signals of frequencies from 0.01 Hz to about 3 kHz. The order of a buffer-based filter is not greater than two. Hence, to obtain higher-order filters, a cascade of second-order filters is constructed. In this paper, a more...

On the convergence of a finite-difference discretization à la Mickens of the generalized Burgers–Huxley equation
PublikacjaIn this note, we establish the property of convergence for a finite-difference discretization of a diffusive partial differential equation with generalized Burgers convective law and generalized Hodgkin–Huxley reaction. The numerical method was previously investigated in the literature and, amongst other features of interest, it is a fast and nonlinear technique that is capable of preserving positivity, boundedness and monotonicity....

Technique to improve CMRR at high frequencies in CMOS OTA-C filters
PublikacjaIn this paper a technique to improve the common-mode rejection ratio (CMRR) at high frequencies in the OTA-C filters is proposed. The technique is applicable to most OTA-C filters using CMOS operational transconductance amplifiers (OTA) based on differential pairs. The presented analysis shows that a significant broadening of CMRR bandwidth can be achieved by using a differential pair with the bodies of transistors connected to...

Rectangular Waveguide Filters Based on Deformed Dual-Mode Cavity Resonators
PublikacjaIn this paper, a novel design for rectangular waveguide filters with deformed dual-mode (DM) cavity resonators is demonstrated. The new resonant cavity shape is a result of applying shape deformation to the basic rectangular cavity to enable its dual-mode operation. Internal coupling between the two orthogonal cavity modes is realized by geometry deformation, eliminating the need for additional coupling elements. The designs are...

Non-standard contact conditions in generalized continua: microblock contact model for a Cosserat body
PublikacjaGeneralized continuum theories involve non-standard boundary conditions that are associated with the additional kinematic variables introduced in those theories, e.g., higher gradients of the displacement field or additional kinematic degrees of freedom. Accordingly, formulation of a contact problem for such a continuum necessarily requires that adequate contact conditions are formulated for the additional kinematic variables and/or...

Regularized Identification of Time-Varying FIR Systems Based on Generalized Cross-Validation
PublikacjaA new regularization method is proposed and applied to identification of time-varying finite impulse response systems. We show, that by a careful design of the regularization constraint, one can improve estimation results, especially in the presence of strong measurement noise. We also show that the the most appropriate regularization gain can be found by direct optimization of the generalized cross-validation criterion.

Miniaturized Dual-Band SIW-Based Bandpass Filters Using Open-Loop Ring Resonators
PublikacjaThis article presents two novel architectures of dual-band substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) bandpass filters (BPFs). Initially, two identical open-loop ring resonators (OLRRs) are coupled face-to-face on the top of the SIW cavity to realize a dual-band single-pole BPF. To obtain two-pole dual-band characteristics, two OLRRs resonant units are assembled horizontally within the top metal layer of the SIW, which is a technique...
