Construction of a picewise-linear classifier by applaing discriminant analysis to decision tree induction

The comparison of Internet Mortgage Market in Selected EU Countries
PublikacjaThe paper presents the description of Internet mortgage market in selected European Union countries. It starts with brief introduction to the concept of creating a fuzzy model representing Polish Internet Mortgage Market. Then, for better understanding of the complexities of this kind of market functioning the comparison is made between mortgage markets in Poland, Estonia, Germany and The United Kingdom (UK): The UK as the European...

t-SNE Highlights Phylogenetic and Temporal Patterns of SARS-CoV-2 Spike and Nucleocapsid Protein Evolution
PublikacjaWe propose applying t-distributed stochastic neighbor embedding to protein sequences of SARS-CoV-2 to construct, visualize and study the evolutionary space of the coronavirus. The basic idea is to explore the COVID-19 evolution space by using modern manifold learning techniques applied to evolutionary distances between variants. Evolutionary distances have been calculated based on the structures of the nucleocapsid and spike proteins.

Laxer Clinical Criteria for Gaming Disorder May Hinder Future Efforts to Devise an Efficient Diagnostic Approach: A Tree-Based Model Study
PublikacjaInternet Gaming Disorder (IGD) has been recognized in May 2013 and can be evaluated using the criteria developed by American Psychiatric Association (APA). The present study investigated the role each IGD criteria plays in diagnosing disordered gaming. A total of 3,377 participants (mean age 20 years, SD = 4.3 years) participated in the study. The data collected was scrutinized to detect patterns...

Comparison of selected electroencephalographic signal classification methods
PublikacjaA variety of methods exists for electroencephalographic (EEG) signals classification. In this paper, we briefly review selected methods developed for such a purpose. First, a short description of the EEG signal characteristics is shown. Then, a comparison between the selected EEG signal classification methods, based on the overview of research studies on this topic, is presented. Examples of methods included in the study are: Artificial...

Narratives on cutting down trees on private land. A comparison of urban and rural municipalities in Poland using the Q-deliberation method
PublikacjaIncreased development in rural and urban areas leads to a decrease in tree cover and reduces the ecosystem services that trees provide. Municipal authorities must consider managing trees on private land to ensure that residents have access to trees and green spaces. In doing so, they must frequently confront conflicting stakeholder views, which are driven by diverse public and private interests and impacted by the type of landscape...

COMPARISON OF SOFTWARE AND HARDWARE REALIZATION OF AES CRYPTOGRAPHIC ALGORITHM
PublikacjaIn this paper hardware and software realization of direct and inverse AES cryptographic algorithm is presented. Both implementations were made using the Virtex-II FPGA and were practically tested. As the criteria of comparison, the resource utilization, achieved performance and power dissipation were chosen. Hardware realization increases throughput of conversion about 190 times over software implementation and decreases the energy...

Adaptive neuro fuzzy and fuzzy decision tree classifiers as applied to sea floor characterization.
W szczególności uwzględniono takie parametry echa jak: energia, amplituda i nachylenie opadającego zbocza, wzbogacone o współczynniki falkowe otrzymane z dyskretnej transformacji falkowej (DWT).

COMPARISON OF SYSTEM ON CHIP TECHNOLOGIES FOR SPACE APPLICATIONS
PublikacjaThe paper presents a review of technologies available for the implementation of digital and mixed signal systems, particularly the system on a chip (SoC) for space applications. The phenomena encountered in the space environment are briefly presented, together with the known solutions, regarding the design of complex electronic systems. The most important norms regarding single die integrated circuits designed for space are also...

Comparison of Absorbed and Intercepted Fractions of PAR for Individual Trees Based on Radiative Transfer Model Simulations
PublikacjaThe fraction of absorbed photosynthetically active radiation (fAPAR) is a key parameter for estimating the gross primary production (GPP) of trees. For continuous, dense forest canopies, fAPAR, is often equated with the intercepted fraction, fIPAR. This assumption is not valid for individual trees in urban environments or parkland settings where the canopy is sparse and there are well-defined tree crown boundaries. Here, the distinction...

Comparison of sound of organ pipes in contemporary and historical instruments
PublikacjaThe aim of this research is to examine the differences in the timbre of organ pipes’ sound between a historical and a contemporary organ instrument. The historical instrument is the Oliwa organ from Gdansk, Poland, and the contemporary one is from Kartuzy, Poland. Recordings are made of single notes played by an open labial pipe that belongs to the Principal rank. The analyses and comparison of several sound features compatible...

A risk comparison framework for autonomous ships navigation
PublikacjaMaritime autonomous surface ships (MASS) may operate in three predefined operational modes (OM): manual, remote, or autonomous control. Determining the appropriate OM for MASS is important for operators and competent authorities that monitor and regulate maritime traffic in given areas. However, a science-based approach to this respect is currently unavailable. To assist the selection of the proper OM, this study presents a risk-based...
