Numerical analysis of mechanical properties of an infill structure used in 3D printings
PublikacjaThe paper presents results of a numerical analysis focused on an identification of mechanical properties of an element created by using Fused Deposition Modelling additive manufacturing technique (FDM). There is presented a description of technology of the 3D printing, numerical model created by using the finite element method (FEM), as well as some problems referred to estimation of the mechanical properties of the printout. The...

Influence of 3D Printed Overlay Infill Patterns on Miniaturized ESPAR Antenna Performance
PublikacjaIn this article, we show how different infill patterns influence the overall performance of miniaturized electrically steerable parasitic array radiator (ESPAR) antenna. The use of 3D printed dielectric overlays is a simple and flexible way to miniaturize ESPAR antennas, so they are more compact and can be better integrated with wireless sensor network (WSN) nodes or gateways in different application areas. Additionally, such overlays...

Seismic pounding behavior of multi-story buildings in series considering the effect of infill panels
PublikacjaThe aim of the present paper is to study the influence of the infill panels on the seismic pounding response of adjacent structures in series. The contribution of the masonry infill has been simulated using equivalent diagonal compression struts. Steel frames have been assumed to have elastic-plastic behavior with 1% linear strain hardening. The dynamic contact analysis has been utilized where contact surface model (target and...

Probabilistic assessment of SMRFs with infill masonry walls incorporating nonlinear soil-structure interaction
PublikacjaInfill Masonry Walls (IMWs) are used in the perimeter of a building to separate the inner and outer space. IMWs may affect the lateral behavior of buildings, while they are different from those partition walls that separate two inner spaces. This study focused on the seismic vulnerability assessment of Steel Moment-Resisting Frames (SMRFs) assuming different placement of IMWs incorporating nonlinear Soil-Structure Interaction (SSI)....

Measurements of droplet contact angle of nanofluids

INVESTIGATION OF JOURNAL SLIDE BEARINGS UNDER THE ANGLE OF THEIR FUNCTIONING
PublikacjaPaper presents the structure and principle of operation of a stand for measurements of influence of the lubrication method and process on functioning of journal slide bearings in their various technical states. Measurements performed on the stand make it possible to take advantage of the new method of evaluating the influence of physical and chemical properties of lubricating oil on the coefficient of friction in the mixed friction...

Camera angle invariant shape recognition in surveillance systems
PublikacjaA method for human action recognition in surveillance systems is described. Problems within this task are discussed and a solution based on 3D object models is proposed. The idea is shown and some of its limitations are talked over. Shape description methods are introduced along with their main features. Utilized parameterization algorithm is presented. Classification problem, restricted to bi-nary cases is discussed. Support vector...

Effective Friction Angle Of Deltaic Soils In The Vistula Marshlands
PublikacjaThis article presents the results of laboratory tests on soft, normally consolidated soils from the Vistula Marshlands. Samples of high-plasticity organic soils (muds) taken from 3.2–4.0 m and 9.5–10.0 m depth, as well as peat deposit at 14.0 m, are analysed. Presented case study confirms the applicability of the Norwegian Institute of Technology (NTH) method based on Cone Penetration Tests (CPTU) and allows for a conservative...

Tire camber angle influence on tire-pavement noise
PublikacjaTaking into account tire-pavement noise and tires classification with respect to noise emission special measurement methods are usually used. When two of them are applied (the Laboratory Drum Method (DR) and the Close-Proximity Method (CPX)) the investigator has to be sure that the position of the tire is correct. The authors of this paper thought about tire position as tire (wheel) alignment in particular tire camber angle. They...
