Linear alkylbenzene sulphonate (LAS) was chosen as an example of a commonly used anionic surfactant. The fate of the surfactant during biological treatment of wastewater was tested.   Badano adsorpcję surfaktantu anionowego LAS na osadzie czynnym pobranym z oczyszczalni ścieków w Swarzewie. Opracowano metodykę separacji i oznaczania surfaktntu w cieczy nadosadowei i w osadzie. Stwierdzono, że na osadzie adsorbuje się około 50-75% całej ilości surfaktantu, w roztworze pozostaje 6-12%, zaś straty wynikające z biodegradacji lub adsorpcji LAS na ściankach naczyń podczas procedury analitycznej stanowią od 25 do 32%.

Stwierdzono, że stężenie SDBS powyżej 50 mg/l miało wyraźny wpływ na przemiany związków azotu i fosforu w czasie oczyszczania ścieków.
