Integrating Statistical and Machine‐Learning Approach for Meta‐Analysis of Bisphenol A‐Exposure Datasets Reveals Effects on Mouse Gene Expression within Pathways of Apoptosis and Cell Survival
PublicationBisphenols are important environmental pollutants that are extensively studied due to different detrimental effects, while the molecular mechanisms behind these effects are less well understood. Like other environmental pollutants, bisphenols are being tested in various experimental models, creating large expression datasets found in open access storage. The meta‐analysis of such datasets is, however, very complicated for various...

Multi-Objective Design Optimization of Compact Quasi-Isotropic Dielectric Resonator Antenna
PublicationMulti-objective optimization of a quasi-isotropic dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) is presented. Utilization of variable-fidelity electromagnetic (EM) DRA models, response surface approximations, and response correction techniques, allows us to obtain—at a low computational cost—a set of alternative antenna designs representing the best possible trade-offs between three conflicting objectives: antenna size, its reflection response,...

Do clusters help companies to "go green"? Experience of Polish National Key Clusters
PublicationThis study aims to explore cluster activity in the field of green transformation, taking into account the green, low-carbon and circular economy. Our intention was to identify the main green practices used by cluster organizations, which we showed through the lens of the attributes of both the cluster and the cluster organization. Through our study, we sought to answer the question: what is the role of cluster organizations in...

Charakterystyka oporności Klebsiella pneumoniae New Delhi na karbapenemy

Barriers to inter-company cooperation in clusters
PublicationClusters have proved to be an important source of competitiveness for the economic development of regions within the European Union. One of the main goals of cluster development is to stimulate cooperation between companies in one or a few related sectors. The stakeholders of a cluster, as well as the local economy, can derive many benefits from such cooperation. However, there are numerous barriers, which make it difficult for...

Macromodels for Efficient Analysis of Open-Region Problems Using the Finite Element Method
PublicationThis paper presents a local model-order reduction, called macromodeling, applied to speed-up the simulations of open-region problems, analyzed by means of finite element method. This technique is illustrated by a numerical example, which deals with a dielectric resonator antenna (DRA). The obtained results show that the proposed approach is reliable and can significantly increase the standard finite element method efficiency.

A cryptic ribosome binding site, false signals in reporter systems and avoidance of protein translation chaos
PublicationThe expression of reporter gene may be induced by activation of cryptic signalling sequences, as we found while constructing the mutS-lacZ fusion gene. We cloned the Escherichia coli lacZ gene encoding beta-galactosidase into a plasmid vector carrying the Thermus thermophilus mutS gene. The clones expected to produce beta-galactosidase as the C-terminal fusion were selected for the complementation of beta-galactosidase activity...

Challenges of branding and marketing of clusters
PublicationClusters have proved to be powerful engine s of economic development in the European Union. Clusters and their stakehol ders can derive many benefits fr om a strong cluster brand. However, they face numerous branding and marketing challenges. Specifics of clusters, such as multiple stakeholders, make it difficult to forge a strong brand identity. This paper addresses the need to develop a cluster specific approach to branding and...
