Difference in Perceived Speech Signal Quality Assessment Among Monolingual and Bilingual Teenage Students
PublicationThe user perceived quality is a mixture of factors, including the background of an individual. The process of auditory perception is discussed in a wide variety of fields, ranging from engineering to medicine. Many studies examine the difference between musicians and non-musicians. Since musical training develops musical hearing and other various auditory capabilities, similar enhancements should be observable in case of bilingual...

NUMERICAL MODEL QUALITY ASSESSMENT OF OFFSHORE WIND TURBINE SUPPORTING STRUCTURE BASED ON EXPERIMENTAL DATA
PublicationAs a structure degrades some changes in its dynamical behavior can be observed, and inversely, observation and evaluation of these dynamical changes of the structure can provide information of structural state of the object. Testing of the real structure, besides of being costly, can cover only limited working states. It is particularly considerable in case of hardly accessible, and randomly/severely dynamically loaded offshore...

Application of gas chromatography-olfactometry (GC-O) in analysis and quality assessment of alcoholic beverages - a review
PublicationW ostatnich latach prowadzone są intensywne badania nad aktywnością sensoryczną poszczególnych składników zapachów napojów alkoholowych i nad zależnościami pomiędzy zapachem, a składem chemicznym lotnej frakcji tych produktów z wykorzystaniem techniki chromatografii gazowej z detekcją olfaktometryczną (GC-O). GC-O jest techniką wykorzystującą możliwość oceny sensorycznej eluatu z kolumny chromatograficznej, przy czym dla każdego...

Systematic Assessment of Product Quality
PublicationThe article describes an innovative metrizable idea for systemic assessments of product quality within the baking industry. Complex product quality analysis requires the employment of metrizability criteria for factors that impact the quality of the product, and these are called determinants. Therefore, such analysis is only possible with the use of systems engineering. A system represents the potential of a manufacturing process,...

Potentiometric sensor containing set of ion selective electrodes with lipid modified membranes for quality assessment of tested non-alcoholic beverages
PublicationPotentiometric sensors may be a good tool for fast quality control of commercial drinks. In this work, such a sensor, containing a set of ion-selective electrodes with lipid-modified membranes (benzylhexadecyldimethylammonium chloride monohydrate, hexadecylamine, 1-dodecanol, elaidic acid, cholesterol) was used for discrimination and quality control of non-alcoholic beverages, mainly composed of sugar and citric acid. It was found...

Instrumental techniques used for assessment of food quality
PublicationW artykule scharakteryzowano dwie techniki instrumentalne stosowane w ocenie jakości produktów spożywczych, tj. chromatografię gazową w połączeniu z detekcją olfaktometryczną oraz nos elektroniczny. Opisano zasady działania obu technik oraz typowe procedury analityczne stosowane w ocenie zapachu. Ponadto, podano przykłady praktycznego zastosowania obu technik, włącznie z tymi, które wykorzystano w pracowni autorów.

Electrochromic foil-based devices: optical transmittance and modulation range, effect of ultraviolet irradiation, and quality assessment by 1/f current noise

Use of electronic nose for quality assessment of agricultural ethanol distillates Wykorzystanie elektronicznego nosa do oceny jakości etanolowych destylatów rolniczych
PublicationPrzedstawiono wyniki badań oceny jakości destylatów rolniczych za pomocą prototypu elektronicznego nosa, wyposażonego w zestaw 6 półprzewodnikowych czujników. Frakcję lotną próbek destylatu rolniczego wytwarzano za pomocą procesu barbotażu. Klasyfikację próbek do odpowiedniej klasy jakości, przeprowadzano przy użyciu funkcji dyskryminacyjnych: liniowej i kwadratowej wspartej metodą kroswalidacji. Na podstawie przeprowadzonych...

Microbial and chemical quality assessment of the small rivers entering the South Baltic. Part II: Case study on the watercourses in the Puck Bay catchment area
PublicationDue to its location, Puck Bay is an area particularly vulnerable to pollution of anthropogenic origin. The aim of the study was to assess the water quality of small watercourses entering the inner part of Puck Bay. The paper presents the results of chemical and microbiological analyses of 10 rivers and canals at their estuaries located on the western shore of the internal Puck Bay. The following environmental parameters were analyzed:...

Microbial and chemical quality assessment of the small rivers entering the South Baltic. Part I: Case study on the watercourses in the Baltic Sea catchment area
PublicationThe area of the Coastal Landscape Park (CLP) due to its location is extremely attractive touristic area. In the summer season, a significant increase in population density is observed, which influences surface water quality. Large numbers of tourists generate an increased amount of municipal wastewater, being treated in local treatment plants and discharged into rivers and streams. The paper presents preliminary research from summer...

Assessment of Supercapacitor’s Quality by Means of Low Frequency Noise
PublicationLow frequency noise is a well-known tool for quality and reliability assessment of electronic devices. This phenomenon is observed in different electrochemical devices as well (e.g., smart windows, electrochemical corrosion processes). Thus, we can assume that the same tool can be used to asses quality of supercapacitors. Their quality is usually determined only by capacitance and/or equivalent series resistance (ESR), or impedance....

An assessment of teeth quality of the mini gang saw blade
PublicationIn this work, the assessment of the effect of the operating time (90 min.) of the mini gang saw blades during sawing Scotch pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) samples upon changes of the saw blade teeth sharpness (bluntness), which was defined as an effective radius of the nose ρ , has been described. The research activities have been carried out on the Nikon Ti-S optical microscope equipped with the Nikon DS-30W camera allowing high-speed...

Optimisation and field assessment of poroelastic wearing course bond quality
PublicationCompared to typical asphalt mixtures, poroelastic mixtures are characterised by high porosity and high flexibility, which are desirable for traffic noise reduction. However, the same properties increase the risk of debonding from the lower layer, which is a significant source of premature damage. The study investigates which of the factors – tack coat agent, type and texture of the lower layer – have the greatest impact on interlayer...

Assessment of the activities of private universities in the context of quality management in 2010
Open Research DataIn all universities, the assessment of the quality is made by the supervisor, the opinion of students and the admission of classes have the greatest impact on the assessment of the quality of education. Subsequent tracking of the student's fate has a slightly smaller impact on the grade. Research also shows that only 4 out of 7 respondents monitor the...
