An Analysis of Sustainability Reporting Practices of the Global Airline Industry
PublicationSustainability reporting (SR) has become a standard practice for many organisations worldwide. The purpose of this paper is to explore and develop our understanding of the global airline industry’s SR practices. Content analysis was employed to map which reporting frameworks the global commercial airline industry has recently used to report their non-financial impacts. Additionally, comparisons were made in the application of SR...

Rapid development of custom web application with ruby on rails framework on the example of group project system
PublicationTechnology industry labor market requires engineers with a good preparation for work with project's tasks and team cooperation skills. One of the way for achieve that abilities during technical university education are students group projects. Running of group projects at university brings new challenges, from recruitment of students with required skills for par-ticular project, to lack of industrial procedures and ready to use...

Neutralising Responsibility: A Critical Analysis of an Airline’s Climate Disclosures
PublicationSustainability reporting provides companies with a medium through which they can communicate their non-financial impacts to stakeholders. The airline industry has been much at the centre of the climate change debate in recent years, which is why it is hardly surprising that airlines seek to take a proactive stance in such reporting. This study critically assesses how an airline based in the Scandinavian region constructs sustainability...

An Analysis of Airline GRI and SDG Reporting
PublicationThis study aims to increase our understanding of the Global Reporting Initiative’s (GRI) topic-specific disclosures and the sustainable development goals (SDGs) addressed in the global passenger airline industry’s sustainability reporting (SR). Based on a quantitative content analysis of the industry’s sustainability reports from the financial year 2019 (FY19), this study reveals that airlines focused more on reporting environmental...

Sustainability reporting in justice systems: a comparative research in two European countries
PublicationPurpose – That on accountability in public organizations is quite an old debate. Its introduction in judicial systems is, however, still viewed with some suspicion, due to its potential trade-off with independence and impartiality. Nevertheless, the need to respond to the demands for greater transparency and accountability has also pushed judicial organizations to establish a dialogue with a wide range of subjects. This study aims...

Europe, between Mandatory and Voluntary Approach to CSR: Some New Evidence from the Polish Listed Companies
PublicationThis paper aims to explore the relationship between corporate governance rules and application of CSR practices into operations of the top 30 companies listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. Since in Poland, so far, there is no obligation to follow any specific CSR standards or to make disclosures of non-financial, social and environmental information, this is still a fully voluntary approach. At the moment, only some of the companies...

Anterior subcutaneous transposition and simple decompression of the ulnar nerve at the elbow – the postoperative improvement in DASH score, VAS score and sonographic findings
PublicationIntroduction. Although a lot of studies have described long- term outcomes after surgical treatment of cubital tunnel syndrome, and the usefulness of sonography in diagnosing of this disorder, few studies have evaluated patients self-reporting outcomes or sonographic findings after surgery. Aim. We assessed patients self-reporting instruments and sonographic findings in patients with the cubital tunnel syndrome before and after...

Low-energy positron scattering from gas-phase pyrimidine: A quantum treatment of the dynamics and a comparison with experiments
PublicationWe are reporting detailed quantum scattering calculations that describe the diffusion of a beam of low-energy positrons interacting with the pyrimidine target as a gas-phase partner. The calculations have employed an essentially ab initio model for the short-range correlation interaction and for the electrostatic interaction of an impinging positron and the electron+nuclear structure of the target molecule at its equilibrium geometry.

Information Extraction from Polish Radiology Reports using Language Models
PublicationRadiology reports are vital elements of directing patient care. They are usually delivered in free text form, which makes them prone to errors, such as omission in reporting radiological findings and using difficult-to-comprehend mental shortcuts. Although structured reporting is the recommended method, its adoption continues to be limited. Radiologists find structured reports too limiting and burdensome. In this paper, we propose...

Budesonide treatment of professional athletes and anti-doping testing- case studies
PublicationAccording to the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Prohibited List, glucocorticosteroids are prohibited in competition and only when administered by oral, intravenous, intramuscular or rectal routes. Up to now, in order to differentiate whether glucocorticosteroids were administered by one of the prohibited routes or not, a specific reporting limit for urinary concentrations of parent compounds and their metabolites was established...

Release of Encapsulated Bioactive Compounds from Active Packaging/Coating Materials and Its Modeling: A Systematic Review
PublicationThe issue of achieving controlled or targeted release of bioactive compounds with specific functional properties is a complex task that requires addressing several factors, including the type of bioactive, the nature of the delivery system, and the environmental conditions during transportation and storage. This paper deals with extensive reporting for the identification of original articles using Scopus and Google Scholar based...

Challenges in providing support for management of evidence-based arguments
PublicationThe paper considers selected challenges related to the application of evidence based arguments and maps them on the tool support level. In particular, we consider: communication and teamwork, handling large arguments, evidence management and integration, argument assessment and communication, change control and reporting, evidence reuse, user data security and argument portfolio management. Then we explain how these challenges...

Full Network Coverage Monitoring Solutions – The netBaltic System Case
PublicationThis paper defines the problem of monitoring a specific network, and more precisely – part of reporting process, which is responsible for the transport of data collected from network devices to station managers. The environment requires additional assumptions, as a specific network related to the netBaltic Project is to be monitored. Two new monitoring methods (EHBMPvU and EHBMPvF) are proposed, which priority is full network coverage....

Self-assemblies of novel magnesium porphyrins mimicking natural chlorosomal bacteriochlorophylls
PublicationSelf-assembling porphyrins are promising materials to mimic natural bacteriochlorophylls c, d, or e encountered in the chlorosomes of photosynthetic bacteria. We have studied four novel magnesium porphyrins mimicking this chlorosomal antenna system. In contrast to previous articles reporting synthetic Zn-porphyrins, our studies focus on porphyrins with Mg as the central atom, which mimic more closely the natural bacteriochlorophylls....

Vision-based parking lot occupancy evaluation system using 2D separable discrete wavelet transform
PublicationA simple system for rough estimation of the occupancy of an ad-hoc organized parking lot is presented. A reasonably simple microprocessor hardware with a low resolution monochrome video camera observing the parking lot from the location high above the parking surface is capable of running the proposed 2-D separable discrete wavelet transform (DWT)-based algorithm, reporting the percentage of the observed parking area occupied by...
