  • Possible effects of the 1984 St. Clair River ice jam on bed changes

    Publication

This study examines the possible effect of the record ice jam of 1984 in the St. Clair River on river bed changes and conveyance. Numerical simulations were made to examine the flow and bed shear stresses during the jam formation and release periods. Simulation results indicate that the ice jam in the river did not cause a significant increase in bed shear stress compared to pre- and post-jam open water conditions. The insignificant...

A series of 2-(1H-indol-2-yl)-3-acrylonitrile derivatives, 2a–x, 3, 4a–b, 5a–d, 6a–b, and 7, were synthesized as potential antitumor and antimicrobial agents. The structures of the prepared compounds were evaluated based on elemental analysis, IR, 1H- and 13NMR, as well as MS spectra. X-ray crystal analysis of the representative 2-(1H-indol-2-yl)-3-acrylonitrile 2l showed that the acrylonitrile double bond was Z-configured. All...

    - PROGRESS IN PLANNING - Year 2014

Education for urban, regional and spatial planning has become a regular subject throughout most European nations; this can be attributed in part to European policies promoting planning and spatially balanced development, but also to the recognition that planning can support sustainability. Nevertheless, there is lingering and justifiable concern about the status, profile and recognition of planning as a profession in its own right...

  • Effect of the Road Environment on Road Safety in Poland

Run-off-road accidents tend to be very severe because when a vehicle leaves the road, it will often crash into a solid obstacle (tree, pole, supports, front wall of a culvert, barrier). A statistical analysis of the data shows that Poland's main roadside hazard is trees and the severity of vehicles striking a tree in a run-off-road crash. The risks are particularly high in north-west Poland with many of the roads lined up with...

    Publication

    - Prace Geograficzne - Year 2018

The work discusses the air temperature course of winter periods (December–March) in Poland in the years 1720–2015. The analysis is carried out for area mean values calculated from 5 stations: Szczecin, Wrocław, Warsaw, Wilno and Lwów. The time series of the mean area winter temperature (hereinafter PLZ) consists of combined observational (140 years) and reconstructed (156 years) data. PLZ reconstruction is based on independent...

  • Improving Thermal Insulation Properties for Prefabricated Wall Components Made of Lightweight Aggregate Concrete with Open Structure

    Publication

    - Year 2017

Porous concrete is commonly used in civil engineering due to its good thermal insulation properties in comparison with normal concrete and high compression strength in comparison with other building materials. An extremely porous concrete, called ‘lightweight aggregate concrete with open structure’ (LAC), is used in some German plants to produce prefabricated wall components. They are used mainly in hall buildings, e.g. supermarkets....

  • TIME- AND FREQUENCY-DOMAIN QUASI-2D SMALL-SIGNAL MOSFET MODELS

    Publication

    - Year 2019

A novel approach to small-signal MOSFET modeling is presented in this book. As a result, time- and frequency-domain physics-based quasi-2D NQS four-terminal small-signal MOSFET models are proposed. The time-domain model provides the background to a novel DIBL-included quasi‑2D NQS four-terminal frequency-domain small-signal MOSFET model. Parameters and electrical quantities of the frequency-domain model are described by explicit...

    - Year 2003

W eseju przedstawiłem najprzód etymologiczny sens pojęcia "strony zainteresowane" wraz z modelem firmy wedle trójstopniowego związku ze stronami zainteresowanymi. Następnie określiłem strony zainteresowane w zgodzie z myślą K. Gibsona jako "quasi-osoby". Następnie pokazałem na przykładzie twórczości K. Goodpastera, K. Gibsona i R.C. Solomona, że etycy biznesu przywiązują coraz większą wagę do moralnej/etycznej podstawy...
