Numeryczna analiza hydrauliki toru kajakarstwa górskiego w Drzewicy
PublicationW artykule zaproponowano wykorzystanie do analizy hydrodynamiki toru kajakarstwa górskiego symulacji numerycznej, wykorzystującej dwuwymiarowe równania ruchu wody w warunkach przepływu szybkozmiennego. Rozwiązanie równań hydrodynamiki wykonano samodzielnie z zastosowaniem metody objętości skończonych. Jako przykład zastosowania zaproponowanej metody przedstawiono analizę przepływu wzdłuż istniejącego, poddanego modernizacji toru...

A Human Behaviour Model Agent for Testing of Voluntary Computing Systems
PublicationPaper presents a design and performance of a voluntary-based distributed computing system testing agent, implementing a human behaviour model. The agent, nicknamed iRobot, was designed and implemented to enable controlled, large scale testing of core algorithms of Comcute - a new voluntary distributed computing platform complementary to BOINC. The main agent design goals were: emulation of human behaviour when browsing web pages,...

Crowdsourcing and Volunteer Computing as Distributed Approach for Problem Solving
PublicationIn this paper, a combination between volunteer computing and crowdsourcing is presented. Two paradigms of the web computing are described, analyzed and compared in detail: grid computing and volunteer computing. Characteristics of BOINC and its contribution to global Internet processing are shown with the stress put onto applications the system can facilitate and problems it can solve. An alternative instance of a grid computing...

Estimation of Conservative Contaminant Travel Time through Vadose Zone Based on Transient and Steady Flow Approaches
PublicationEstimation of contaminant travel time through the vadose zone is needed for assessing groundwater vulnerability to pollution, planning monitoring and remediation activities or predicting the effect of land use change or climate change on groundwater quality. The travel time can be obtained from numerical simulations of transient flow and transport in the unsaturated soil profile, which typically require a large amount of data and...

Solution of coupled integral equations for quantum scattering in the presence of complex potentials
PublicationIn this paper, we present a method to compute solutions of coupled integral equations for quantum scattering problems in the presence of a complex potential. We show how the elastic and absorption cross sections can be obtained from the numerical solution of these equations in the asymptotic region at large radial distances.

Alternative Modeling of Volunteer Based Systems
PublicationThe canonical approach to model a flow of a voluntary based computing, as presented in Chapter 7 may tax the capacity of the simulator, especially when a more complex model of Voluntary Computing, proposed in [1], is used which would imply that, for typical heterogeneous groups of volunteers, several thousands of threads would have to be run inside the simulator, to mimic closely the behaviour of every volunteer. This chapter presents...
