Zastosowanie bloku adsorpcyjnego w centrali klimatyzacyjnej a zużycie energii w procesie chłodzenia powietrza
PublicationPrzedstawiono możliwości wykorzystania bloku adsorpcyjnego w centralach klimatyzacyjnych w celu obniżenia zużycia energii w procesie chłodzenia powietrza. Zaprezentowano badania teoretyczne i eksperymentalne nad hybrydowymi urządzeniami klimatyzacyjnymi realizowane w różnych ośrodkach naukowych dla odmiennych warunków klimatycznych.

ABC transporters Cdr1p, Cdr2p and Cdr3p of a human pathogen Candida albicans are general phospholipid translocators

Emission profile of butan-2-one oxime from commercially available neutral silicone sealant
PublicationThe paper presents results of research on emission profile of butan-2-one oxime (methyl ethyl ketoxime, MEKO) released from two types of commercially available neutral silicone sealants: silicone type ‘S’ and silicone type ‘T’. To determine the emissions from silicone samples, the system consists of a stationary emission chamber, and the thermal desorption-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry system was applied. First, the research...

Static in vitro digestion model adapted to the general older adult population: an INFOGEST international consensus
PublicationUnderstanding the mechanisms of food digestion is of paramount importance to determine the effect foods have on human health. Significant knowledge on the fate of food during digestion has been generated in healthy adults due to the development of physiologically-relevant in vitro digestion models. However, it appears that the performance of the oro-gastrointestinal tract is affected by ageing and that a model simulating the digestive...

Single-phase, Five-level Inverter with SPWM-Based Neutral Point Voltage Balancing Scheme
PublicationMultilevel inverter topologies provide several advantages over two-level inverter configuration. These benefits are the reason for the growing interest in multilevel topologies among research society. One of the most popular topological concepts (diode and active switch clamping) requires neutral-point potential balancing due to series-connected capacitor banks across the input dc link in such derived inverter configurations. This...

Adapting a General Tool to Monitoring Multi-Agent Systems Through Virtual Host Layer Extenstion
PublicationNagios is a free software for IT infrastructure monitoring. Out-of-the-box it is not suited for monitoring multi-agent systems, because agents may dynamically join and leave the system or change roles. But Nagios' flexible configuration makes extensions possible. This paper presents and verifies Nagios configuration and extensions for monitoring multi-agent systems.

A general isogeometric finite element formulation for rotation‐free shells with in‐plane bending of embedded fibers
PublicationThis article presents a general, nonlinear isogeometric finite element formulation for rotation-free shells with embedded fibers that captures anisotropy in stretching, shearing, twisting, and bending - both in-plane and out-of-plane. These capabilities allow for the simulation of large sheets of heterogeneous and fibrous materials either with or without matrix, such as textiles, composites, and pantographic structures. The work...

General solution of quantum mechanical equations of motion with time-dependent Hamiltonians: A Lie algebraic approach
PublicationThe unitary operators U(t), describing the quantum time evolution of systems with a time-dependent Hamiltonian, can be constructed in an explicit manner using the method of time-dependent invariants. We clarify the role of Lie-algebraic techniques in this context and elaborate the theory for SU(2) and SU(1,1). In these cases we give explicit formulae for obtaining general solutions from special ones. We show that the constructions...

General, Mild, and Metal-Free Functionalization of Indole and Its Derivatives Through Direct C3-Selenylation
PublicationA very mild method for the introduction of functionalized alkylselenyl group at C-3 position of the indole ring was developed. The proposed procedure consists of an electrophilic substitution of indole and its derivatives with bis(O,O-diisopropoxyphosphorothioyl) diselenide and subsequent cleavage of the P–Se bond with tetrabutylammonium fluoride in the presence of various electrophilic reagents. This method can be successfully...

Yields and Time-of-Flight Spectra of Neutral High-Rydberg Fragments at the K Edges of the CO2 Molecule
PublicationWe have studied the production of neutral fragments in high-Rydberg (HR) states at the C 1s and O 1s edges of the CO2 molecule by performing two kinds of experiments. First, the yields of neutral HR fragments were measured indirectly by ionizing such fragments in a static electric field and by collecting resulting singly charged positive ions as a function of the photon energy. Such measurements reveal not only excitations below...

Revisiting the estimation of cutting power with different energetic methods while sawing soft and hard woods on the circular sawing machine: a Central European case
PublicationIn the classical approaches, used in Central Europe in practice, cutting forces and cutting power in sawing processes of timber are commonly computed by means of the specific cutting resistance kc. It needs to be highlighted that accessible sources in handbooks and the scientific literature do not provide any data about wood provenance, nor about cutting conditions, in which cutting resistance has been empirically determined. In...

Comprehensive thermodynamic analysis of the CAES system coupled with the underground thermal energy storage taking into account global, central and local level of energy conversion
PublicationA key aspect of CAES is the optimal configuration of the thermodynamic cycle. In this paper, the situation of cooperation between the current conventional power plants and wind farms is analyzed, and then, based on thermodynamic models, the process of storing thermal and electrical energy in the CAES system coupled with a heat storage and recovery is developed. Therefore, three levels can be distinguished, namely: the global level...

Investigation of thin perovskite layers between cathode and doped ceria used as buffer layer in solid oxide fuel cells
PublicationIn this paper, thin perovskite layers between cathode material of solid oxide fuel cells and gadolinia-doped ceria buffer layer are investigated. Thin layers made of LaNi0.6Fe0.4O3-δ (LNF), La0.6Sr0.4Co0.2Fe0.8O3-δ (LSCF), or SrTi0.65Fe0.35O3-δ (STF) were symmetrically deposited by spin coating method from metallo-organic polymer precursors on a Ce0.8Gd0.2O2-δ (CGO) substrate. Porous and about 40-μm-thick LNF cathodes were deposited...
