Helicity discrimination in N,N'-dibenzoyl-1,2,3,4,7,8,9,10-octahydro-1,10-phenanthrolines and their thiono- and selenocarbonyl analogues by inclusion complexation with chiral diols
PublicationX-ray crystallographic analysis of the title compounds revealed that they assume a folded helical con- formation of an approximate C2 symmetry in the solid state. Dithioamide, diselenoamide and monoselenoamide were resolved to enantiomers by inclusion crystallization with optically active diols (TADDOLs). The absolute configuration of the guest molecules in the complexes was assigned as P. The optical activity of the resolved compounds...

Quantum superadditivity in linear optics networks: Sending bits via multiple-access Gaussian channels
PublicationSuperadditivity effects of communication capacities are known in the case of discrete variable quantum channels. We describe the continuous variable analog of one of these effects in the framework of Gaussian multiple access channels (MACs). Classically, superadditivity-type effects are strongly restricted: For example, adding resources to one sender is never advantageous to other senders in sending their respective information...

Automatic Regularization by Quantization in Reducible Representations of CCR: Point-Form Quantum Optics with Classical Sources
PublicationElectromagnetic fields are quantized in a manifestly covariant way by means ofa class of reducible "center-of-mass N-representations" of the algebra of canonical commutationrelations (CCR). The four-potential Aa(x) transforms in these representations as aHermitian four-vector field in Minkowski four-position space (without change of gauge), butin momentum space it splits into spin-1 massless photons and two massless scalars. Whatwe...

PublicationFabrication process of thin boron-doped nanocrystalline diamond (B-NCD) microelectrode on fused silica single mode optical fiber has been investigated. The B-NCD films were deposited on the fibers using Microwave Plasma Assisted Chemical Vapor Deposition (MW PA CVD) at glass substrate temperature of 475 ºC. We have obtained homogenous, continuous and polycrystalline surface morphology with the mean grain size in the range of 100-250...

Nanocrystalline CVD Diamond Coatings on Fused Silica Optical Fibres: Optical Properties Study
Publicationpre-treatment by dip coating in two detonation nanodiamond (DND) seeding media has been studied. The DND suspension in ethyl alcohol and dispersion of DND in dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) with polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) were chosen for the seeding purpose. The grain size distribution of nanodiamond particles in both seeding media was kept at the same level (approximately 1050 nm). After the seeding nanocrystalline diamond lms were deposited...

Measurement of selected characteristics of low-coherence optical signal sources for optical coherence tomography
PublicationOCT to nowa metoda badania wewnętrznych struktur materiałów. Wśród wielu technik detekcji sygnału optycznego wykorzystywanych w OCT najpopularniejszą i najbardziej obiecującą jest OLCR (Opticla-Low Coherence Reflectomerty - reflektometria niskokoherentna). OLCR wykorzystuje szerokopasmowe źródła, których parametry, jak np.: charakterystyka widmowa, charakterystyka szumowa, determinują właściwości metrologiczne systemu OCT. W artykule...

Forwarding and optical indices of a graph

Multistage optical switching networks
W artykule opisano trzy typy komutatorów: komutator światłowodów(FX), komutator długości fal (WSX) i komutator z konwersją długości...

Topological extraordinary optical transmission
PublicationΤhe incumbent technology for bringing light to the nanoscale, the near-field scanning optical microscope, has notoriously small throughput efficiencies of the order of 10^4-10^5 or less. We report on a broadband, topological, unidirectionally guiding structure, not requiring adiabatic tapering and, in principle, enabling near-perfect (∼100%) optical transmission through an unstructured single arbitrarily subdiffraction slit at...

Protection in elastic optical networks
PublicationIn this article, we analyze gains resulting from the use of EON architectures with special focus on transportation of cloud-ready and content-oriented traffic in the context of network resilience. EONs are a promising approach for future optical transport networks and, apart from improving the network spectral efficiency, bring such new capabilities as squeezed protection, which reduces resource requirements in failure scenarios....

Time-of-flight fiber optic sensors for strain and temperature measurement
PublicationW pracy przedstawiono światłowodowy sensor czasu przelotu do pomiaru odkształceń i temperatury mogący pracować zarówno w modzie transmisyjnym, jak i odbiciowym. W pomiarach czasu przelotu wykorzystano krótkie impulsy światłowodowe wprowadzane do jednodomowego światłowodu. Pod wpływem czynników zewnętrznych (temperatura, odkształcenie, siła rozciągająca) zmieniała się droga optyczna w światłowodzie, co powodowało zmiany czasu przelotu...

Microscale diamond protection for a ZnO coated fiber optic sensor
PublicationFiber optic sensors are widely used in environmental, biological and chemical sensing. Due to the demanding environmental conditions in which they can be used, there is a risk of damaging the sensor measurement head placed in the measuring field. Sensors using nanolayers deposited upon the fiber structure are particularly vulnerable to damage. A thin film placed on the surface of the fiber end-face can be prone to mechanical damage...

All these components were connected by a single-mode fiber coupler. Metrological parameters of the sensor were...

Optical Detection of Ketoprofen by Its Electropolymerization on an Indium Tin Oxide-Coated Optical Fiber Probe
PublicationIn this work an application of optical fiber sensors for real-time optical monitoring of electrochemical deposition of ketoprofen during its anodic oxidation is discussed. The sensors were fabricated by reactive magnetron sputtering of indium tin oxide (ITO) on a 2.5 cm-long core of polymer-clad silica fibers. ITO tuned in optical properties and thickness allows for achieving a lossy-mode resonance (LMR) phenomenon and it can be...

Annealing of indium tin oxide (ITO) coated optical fibers for optical and electrochemical sensing purposes
PublicationGlass and fiber structures with Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) coating were subjected to annealing in order to identify impact of the thermal treatment on their optical and electrochemical properties. It is shown that the annealing process significantly modifies optical properties and thickness of the films, which are crucial for performance of optical fiber sensors. Moreover, it visibly improves electrochemical activity of ITO on glass...
