Chromium (III) removal by perennial emerging macrophytes in floating treatment wetlands
PublikacjaFloating treatment wetlands (FTWs) are a sustainable solution to treat polluted water, but their role in chromium (Cr(III)) removal under neutral pH conditions remains poorly understood. This study evaluated the potential of FTWs planted with two perennial emergent macrophytes, Phragmites australis and Iris pseudacorus, to remove Cr(III) and nutrients (N and PO4-P) from water containing 7.5 mg/L TN, 1.8 mg/L PO4-P, and Cr(III)...

Managing Unemployment under COVID-19 Conditions (States of Emergency or Crisis)
PublikacjaRising unemployment is one of the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic in many countries. This, in turn, has forcedpolicymakers to respond immediately with policy tools to minimize unemployment. The purpose of our study is to contribute toempirical knowledge by looking at activities of 40 local government units to counteract unemployment in the cross-border regionon the Polish side. In doing this, our study contributes to the...

Research of Emergency Modes of Wind Power Plants Using Computer Simulation
PublikacjaThe aim of this study is to investigate changes in the wind power plant energy production parameters under the conditions of sudden wind changes and voltage drop. To achieve these goals, a simulation of operation of wind power plants was performed. Twelve wind turbines with variable rotational speed equipped with a Fuhrländer FL 2500/104 asynchronous double-fed induction generator (DFIG) were used, each with an installed capacity...

ON THE NON-LOCALITY OF TRIPARTITE NON-SINGALING BOXES EMERGING FROM WIRINGS
PublikacjaIt has been recently shown, that some of the tripartite boxes admittin g bilocal decom- position, lead to non-locality under wiring operation applied to t wo of the subsystems [R. Gallego et al. Physical Review Letters 109 , 070401 (2012)]. In the following, we study this phenomenon quantitatively. Basing on the known classes of bo xes closed un- der wirings, we introduce multipartite monotones which are count erparts of bipartite ones...

Trajectory planning for Service Ship during emergency STS transfer operation
PublikacjaIn this paper trajectory for approaching during emergency STS transfer operation with oil spill is considered as a sequence of navigation manoeuvres in specific navigational environment. The designed way points - ship positions and speed are determined as reference values to support navigator in decision making during steering and to mitigate the risk of collision which mostly results from exceeding the speed limit of approaching....

Positivity and job burnout in emergency personnel: examining linear and curvilinear relationship
PublikacjaThe aim of this study was to examine whether the relationship between the ratio of job-related positive to negative emotions (positivity ratio) and job burnout is best described as linear or curvilinear. Participants were 89 police officers (12% women) and 86 firefighters. The positivity ratio was evaluated using the Job-related Affective Wellbeing Scale (Van Katwyk, Fox, Spector, & Kelloway, 2000). Exhaustion and disengagement,...

Carbon nitride exfoliation for photocatalysis and photocatalytic ozonation over emerging contaminants abatement
PublikacjaThe production of graphitic carbon nitride was studied with the addition of a following exfoliation step using ultrasounds, at different times. The treatment produced catalysts with much higher surface areas, from 2.18 m2 g 1 with no treatment to 28.34 m2 g 1 after 36 h of exfoliation. During exfoliation, melem was also produced, and may further enhance the photoluminescence and photocatalytic properties. The photocatalytic reaction...

The Impact of Covid-19 on the Performance of Exchange Traded Funds on Developed and Emerging Markets
PublikacjaIn this paper an endeavour was made to evaluate the impact of Covid-19 on the achievement of the investment objectives by selected ETFs in developed and emerging markets. For this purpose, the tracking errors calculated for 18 different ETFs operating on the basis of American, Asian and European stock indexes were analyzed. The time range of the research was selected in such a way as to compare the period before the pandemic(pre-Covid)...

Functionalized nanodiamonds as a perspective green carbo-catalyst for removal of emerging organic pollutants
PublikacjaRapid industrial and urban development jointly with rising global population strongly affect the large-scale issues with drinking, groundwater, and surface water pollution. Concerns are not limited to environmental issues but also human health impact becoming serious global aspect. Organic pollution becomes a primarily serious hazard, therefore, the novel sophisticated approaches to treat them are thoroughly investigated. Among...

Approach Manoeuvre During Emergency Ship-to-Ship Transfer Operation with Oil Spill
PublikacjaOne of the major activities during Ship to Ship (STS) transfer operation at sea is to safe approach the Ship to be Lightered (SBL) which moves on a constant heading with slow speed or drifting. In the paper described the manoeuvring problem for approaching during emergency STS transfer operation with oil spill. The approach manoeuvre is considered as a sequence of navigation manoeuvres in specific navigational environment with...
