The Structure of Entrepreneurial Team Members’ Competencies: Between Effectuation and Causation
PublikacjaA conscious shaping of entrepreneurial competence is a relevant element of entrepreneurial education. In order to recognize which of the competencies regarded as entrepreneurial are characteristic of members of entrepreneurial teams, which is crucial for the work of those teams, it is necessary to identify the structure of those competencies. This quantitative study was conducted with the use of a survey method and involved 111...

Influence of geotechnical conditions on damage states of Gdansk Bay Coast cliff formations
PublikacjaA geotechnical aspect of destruction processes of seashores was identified based on the case of erosion of Gdansk Bay Coast cliff formations. Causative factors of landslide were described in the context of natural phenomena, land development and its anthropogenic transformations. Possible directions of theoretical analysis of changes in groundwater relations were indicated.

First report on echinocandin resistant Polish Candida isolates
PublikacjaPurpose: Candida spp. are ranked as one of the four major causative agents of fungal infections. The number of infections caused by Candida species resistant to fluconazole, which is applied as the first line drug in candidiasis treatment, increases every year. In such cases the application of echinocandin is necessary. Echinocandin susceptibility testing has become a routine laboratory practice in many countries due to the increasing...

The muscovian letters of Francesco Locatelli (1735), or the illusory modernisation of Russia's legal and political system during the reign of Peter The Great and his successors
PublikacjaIn the 18 th century thinkers of the French Enlightenment discover Russia, whose institutional reforms replace their traditional utopian topies. The myths of Peter the Great and of Catherine II as Minerva of the North are created Russia also becomes a peculiar laboratory of Enlightenment incarnate. Francesco Locatelli, the author of the Muscovian Letters, who between 1733 and 1735 spend two years in Russian prisons, attempts...

Bunker demolition located in a conservation protection zone in the light of technical, national defense, functional-utility and economic conditions
PublikacjaThe paper presents a description of the technical condition of the Bunker building located at the port quay, which has been out of use for several decades. The direct reason for the cessation of exploitation was the deletion of Bunker from the Civil Defense records. The paper contains a detailed analysis of the Bunker's technical condition, also taking into account the national defense, functional and utility aspects and the issues...

Demolition of the cereal elevator building located in the conservation protection zone in the aspect of technical, functional-utility and economic conditions
PublikacjaThe paper presents a description of the technical condition of the Grain Elevator building situated on the port quay, which after many years of operation has been decommissioned. The immediate reason for the cessation of operation was the change in the use profile of the port quay, which caused the handling of other goods at the quay than the bulk materials originally stored in Elewator Zbożowy. The work contains...

Phage therapy as a novel strategy in the treatment of urinary tract infections caused by E. coli
PublikacjaUrinary tract infections (UTIs) are regarded as one of the most common bacterial infections affecting millions of people, in all age groups, annually in the world. The major causative agent of complicated and uncomplicated UTIs are uropathogenic E. coli strains (UPECs). Huge problems with infections of this type are their chronicity and periodic recurrences. Other disadvantages that are associated with UTIs are accompanying complications...

The congruence of mental models in entrepreneurial teams – implications for performance and satisfaction in teams operating in an emerging economy
PublikacjaPurpose – The paper aims to explore the relationship between the congruence of mental models held by the members of entrepreneurial teams operating in an emerging economy (Poland) and entrepreneurial outcomes (performance and satisfaction). Design/methodology/approach – The data obtained from 18 nascent and 20 established entrepreneurial teams was analysed to answer hypotheses. The research was quantitative and was conducted using...

Predicting sulfanilamide solubility in the binary mixtures using a reference solvent approach
PublikacjaBackground. Solubility is a fundamental physicochemical property of active pharmaceutical ingredients. The optimization of a dissolution medium aims not only to increase solubility and other aspects are to be included such as environmental impact, toxicity degree, availability, and costs. Obtaining comprehensive...

Mechanism of Osmolyte Stabilization–Destabilization of Proteins: Experimental Evidence
PublikacjaIn this work, we investigated the influence of stabilizing (N,N,N-trimethylglycine) and destabilizing (urea) osmolytes on the hydration spheres of biomacromolecules in folded forms (trpzip-1 peptide and hen egg white lysozyme─hewl) and unfolded protein models (glycine─GLY and N-methylglycine─NMG) by means of infrared spectroscopy. GLY and NMG were clearly limited as minimal models for unfolded proteins and should be treated with...

Simple Computational Methods in Predicting Limit Load of High-Strength Cold-Formed Sections due to Local Buckling: A Case Study
PublikacjaCold-formed thin-walled sections are prone to local buckling caused by residual stresses, geometrical imperfections and inconsistency of material properties. We present a real case of buckling failure and conduct a numerical and experimental study aimed to identify methods capable of predicting such failures. It is important because designers of structures are getting more FEA-oriented and tend to avoid lengthy procedures of cold-formed...
