Facilitating free travel in the Schengen area—A position paper by the European Association for Biometrics
PublicationDue to migration, terror-threats and the viral pandemic, various EU member states have re-established internal border control or even closed their borders. European Association for Biometrics (EAB), a non-profit organisation, solicited the views of its members on ways which biometric technologies and services may be used to help with re-establishing open borders within the Schengen area while at the same time mitigating any adverse...

Ammonia amendment promotes high rate lactate production and recovery from semi-continuous food waste fermentation
PublicationIn this study, a reliable approach using ammonia nitrogen was proposed to increase lactate production during semi-continuous food waste (FW) fermentation under mesophilic conditions. Both free ammonia nitrogen (FAN) and ammonium ion (NH4+-N) were present in mesophilic reactors, with a wide FAN/NH4+-N ratio variation due to the intermittent pH control. The investigation of responsible mechanisms revealed that the increased production...

Rearrangeability in multicast Clos networks is NP-complete
PublicationPrzestrajalność w polach Closa z połączeniami jeden do jeden jest problemem wielomianowym. W pracy pokazano, że w polach z połączeniami jeden do wiele problem ten jest NP zupełny.Three-stage elos networks are commutation networks with circuit switching. So far, graph theory has been very useful tool for solving issues related to these networks with unicast connections. This is so because if elos network is represented as a bipartite...

The on-line consumers’ choice of parcels collecting ways
Open Research DataSmall pilot study conducted on an available sample of academic teachers and students from the University of Gdańsk (UG). The survey was aimed only at people who declared that they shop online. As e-commerce reports show that the main group of people buying online are those with a higher education, studying a group of university employees and students...

Rearrangeable clos networks C(n,r_1,n^2-1,n,r_2) with certain restrictions for connections
PublicationW pracy została zaproponowana nowa metoda sprawdzania przestrajalności pól Closa dla połączeń jeden do wiele. W rozważaniach zakładamy grupowanie połączeń.In the article we will propose new method of checking rearrangeability of multicast Clos networks. In the literature there is no precise method for checking rearrangeability. We focused on three-stage Clos networks without any constraints about fan-out capability. We show the...

Consumer social network brand identification and personal branding. How do social network users choose among brand sites?
PublicationBrands’ social networking sites (fan pages) are increasingly attracting the attention of scientists and managers intrigued by their potential application for brand value creation. The aim of this research is to understand better how users choose among social networking sites as an act of brand identification. The study presents a new model whose structure of identification drivers for social networking brand sites varies for customer...

A bound on the number of middle-stage crossbars in f-cast rearrangeable Clos networks
PublicationIn 2006 Chen and Hwang gave a necessary and sufficient condition under which a three-stage Clos network is rearrangeable for broadcast connections. Assuming that only crossbars of the first stage have no fan-out property, we give similar conditions for f-cast Clos networks, where f is an arbitrary but fixed invariant of the network. Such assumptions are valid for some practical switching systems, e.g. high-speed crossconnects....

Experimental analysis of chip removing system in circular sawing machine
PublicationPaper presents analysis of the process of removing the wood chips generated during the cutting of the material on the circular sawing machine. The attention is focused on the upper cover of the chip removing system. Within the framework of the work a systematic experimental study of pressure distribution in the cover during operation of the selected rotational speed of saw blade with a diameter of 300 mm and 450 mm was carried...

Determinanty kreowania wartości marki poprzez media społecznościowe w gospodarce sieciowej
PublicationGłównym problemem badawczym podejmowanym w pracy, jest określenie struktury czynników determinujących kreowanie wartości marki w mediach społecznościowych. Dla rozwiązania tego problemu wykonano dwa badania. Pierwsze z nich dotyczyło określenia relacji pomiędzy wartością marki a jej pozycją w sieciach społecznościowych (model BV). Badanie to zrealizowano w oparciu o metody ilościowe: analizę statystyczną danych wtórnych i danych...

Imaging of ferroelectric properties of sinter by means of Piezoresponse Force Microscopy
Open Research DataFerroelectricity is a property of certain materials [1], characterized by a spontaneous electrical polarization that can be reversed by applying an external electric field. Ferroelectric properties can be used to make capacitors with adjustable capacity. The permeability of ferroelectrics is not only regulated, but usually also very high, especially...
