  • Areas of updraft air motion from WRF model simulations.

Presented dataset is a part of numerical modelling study focusing on the analysis of sea ice floes size distribution (FSD) influence on the horizontal and vertical structure of convection in the atmosphere. The total area and spatial arrangement of the updrafts indicates that the FSD affects the total moisture content and the values of area averaged...

  • MODEL OF MULTILEVEL STOCHASTIC ANALYSIS OF ROAD SAFETY ON REGIONAL LEVEL

In this paper multilevel approach to the issue of road safety level on the road network of European regions, classified as NUTS 2 in statistical databases of the European Union, has been presented. Following the pattern of many publications on road safety it has been assumed that the risk calculated as the number of death casualties in road accidents per 100,000 inhabitants of a given region has Poisson distribution. Therefore,...

  • Reaction of aniline with ammonium persulphate and concentrated hydrochloric acid: Experimental and DFT studies

    Publication

    - CHEMICAL PAPERS - Year 2012

In this paper, the reaction of aniline with ammonium persulphate and concentrated HCl was studied. As a result of our experimental studies, 2,4,6-trichlorophenylamine was identified as the main product. This shows that a high concentration of HCl does not favour oxidative polymerisation of phenylamine, even though the ammonium persulphate/HCl system is widely used in polyaniline synthesis. On the basis of the experimental data...

  • Integrity level verification for safety-related functions

This article describes methods for safety integrity level (SIL) verification of safety-related functions with regard to probabilistic criteria given international standards IEC 61508 and IEC 61511. These functions are to be realized using the electrical, electronic and programmable electronic (E/E/PE) systems or safety instrumented systems (SIS). Some methods are proposed for quantitative probabilistic modelling taking into account...

  • Dynamics of mechanical model of implant-tissue system in ventral hernia repair

    Publication

The paper deals with a finite element modelling of implants in the problem of ventral hernia repair. The synthetic mesh implanted in the abdomen during surgery is here modelled as a membrane structure. Thesystem undergoes the internal abdominal pressure that occurs during the postoperative cough, the load identified in the literature as the main cause of the connection failure and hernia recurrence. The model can be used to estimate...

  • Flow of liquid in flat gaps of the satellite motor working mechanism

    Publication

The article describes the methodology and results of investigations of the flow of oil and HFA-E emulsion in flat gaps of the working mechanism of a satellite motor. The flow of liquid in those gaps is turbulent and not fully developed. The article presents two methods of modelling this flow. Method I makes use of the Darcy-Weisbach formula, while Method II bases on the assumption that in the variable-length gaps the flow is turbulent...

  • AN INNOVATIVE APPROACH TO PREDICTION ENERGETIC EFFECTS OF WOOD CUTTING PROCESS WITH CIRCULAR-SAW BLADES

    Publication

    - WOOD RES-SLOVAKIA - Year 2014

In the classical approach, energetic effects (cutting forces and cutting power) of wood sawing process are generally calculated on the basis of the specific cutting resistance, which is in the case of wood cutting the function of more or less important factors. The aim of the paper is to present a new calculating model using the application of modern fracture mechanics and to compare cutting parameters of native beech, Bendywood...

  • Celebrities’ personal brand authenticity in social media: an application in the context of football top-players. The Robert Lewandowski case

    Publication

    - Year 2018

The aim of the study is to explore personal brand authenticity in social media through sentiment analysis. A survey has been conducted in the context of football players with respect to Robert Lewandowski – the most valuable Polish football-celebrity brand. Authors first assess antecedents of his brand authenticity basing on an international sample of social media users, made of 219 cases from 22 countries (intentionally excluding...

  • On the exact equilibrium conditions of irregular shells reinforced by beams along the junctions

The exact, resultant equilibrium conditions for irregular shells reinforced by beams along the junctions are formulated. The equilibrium conditions are derived by performing direct integration of the global equilibrium conditions of continuum mechanics. New, exact resultant static continuity conditions along the singular curve modelling reinforced junction are presented. The results do not depend on shell thickness, internal through-the-thickness...

In this paper, an analysis of depolarisation in Body Area Networks for Body-to-Infrastructure communications based on a measurement campaign in the 5.8 GHz band in an indoor environment is performed. Measurements were made with an offbody antenna transmitting linearly polarised signals and dualpolarised receiving antennas carried by the user on the body. A Normal Distribution with a mean of 2.0 dB and a standard deviation of 4.3...

  • Non-adiabatic Effects in Pressure Drop Calculations in Flow Boiling and Flow Condensation in Minichannels

    Publication

    - Year 2011

Considerations presented in the paper relate both to the case of flow boiling and flow condensation in conventional channels as well as small diameter ones. Authors devoted all the possible attention that the modeling presented is applicable to the whole range of quality variation in both cases of condensation and boiling. The form of two-phase flow multiplier, which is a major factor in modeling presented here, should be capable...

  • Technical fabrics in costruction of large scale roofs - numerical and experimental aspects

    Publication

    - Year 2007

Designing and construction of textile hanging roofs is the challenging subject for engineers. This type of structure needs geometrically and very often also physically non-linear calculations. Due to different behaviour of two families of threads (warp and weft), which during deformation can change the angle between their directions, they require special constitutive modelling. Also the loading of hanging roofs is very special....

  • INFLUENCE OF LOAD AND INFLATION PRESSURE ON THE TYRE ROLLING RESISTANCE

Tyre load and inflation pressure are important factors controlling rolling resistance of road vehicles. The article presents results obtained in the Technical University of Gdańsk during laboratory and road measurements of different car tyres rolling on different pavements. The knowledge of rolling resistance characteristics is important for modelling car dynamics as well as fuel consumption. It is also necessary to establish proper...

  • Large deformation finite element analysis of undrained pile installation

In this paper, a numerical undrained analysis of pile jacking into the subsoil using Abaqus software suit has been presented. Two different approaches, including traditional Finite Element Method (FEM) and Arbitrary Lagrangian–Eulerian (ALE) formulation, were tested. In the first method, the soil was modelled as a two-phase medium and effective stress analysis was performed. In the second one (ALE), a single-phase medium was assumed...
