Effect of Acetylation and Beta‐Amylase Treatment on Complexation of Debranched Starch with Naringenin
PublicationStarch inclusion complexation has been shown to improve solubility of water insoluble molecules. Potato starch and Hylon VII are acetylated at two levels and then debranched alone or combined with β‐amylase hydrolysis, and its complexes with naringenin are prepared in aqueous conditions and characterized in this study. Both soluble and insoluble complexes are formed with the soluble complex present in the supernatant and the insoluble...

General route for the synthesis of terminal phosphanylphosphido complexes of Zr(IV) and Hf(IV): Structural investigations of the first zirconium complex with a phosphanylphosphido ligand
PublicationReactions of R2P-P(SiMe3)Li with [Cp2MCl2] (M = Zr, Hf) in hydrocarbons yield the related terminal phosphanylphosphidocomplexes [Cp2M(Cl){(Me3Si)P-PR2-jP1}] (R = iPr and tBu). The solid state structures of [Cp2M(Cl){P(SiMe3)-PiPr2-jP1}] (M = Zr, Hf) were established by single crystal X-ray diffraction studies. The phosphido-P atoms adopt almost planar geometries and the phosphanyl P atoms adopt pyramidal geometries. The reaction...

Phosphoroorganic Metal Complexes in Therapeutics
PublicationThe present mini-review highlights recent developments on antitumor activity of metal-based therapeutics which have been a subject of researches for the last few decades. In 1965, Rosenberg found that during an electrolysis on platinum electrodes a complex of Pt is generated which inhibited to a great extent a binary fission in Escherichia coli bacteria. This discovery started a new chapter in medicinal chemistry and the interesting...

Effect of Hydroxypropylation and Beta-Amylase Treatment on Complexation of Debranched Starch With Naringenin
PublicationNaringenin exhibits many health benefits but it has limited water solubility and consequently low bioavailability. The objective of this study is to investigate the effect of hydroxypropylation and enzymatic treatments on starch complexation with naringenin. Potato starch and Hylon VII are hydroxypropylated to two substitution degrees and then debranched or debranched/β‐amylase treated prior to complexing with naringenin. Both...

Thiolate complexes of molybdenum. synthesis and application

Such metal derivatives can take a form of starch compounds bearing metal atoms and metal carrying moieties either covalently bound or complexed. Starch metal complexes may have a character of either Werner, inclusion, sorption or capillary complexes. In this publication, preparation, structure, properties and numerous current and potential applications of those...

The two ring road complexes of Gdansk
PublicationThe urban structure of Gdańsk city centre is determined by two ring road complexes. The first of them, the Gdańsk Ring, has been designed by Hermann Josef Stübben as a result of a defortification at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. This new modern zone of the city centre was destroyed like the rest of Gdańsk in the end of World War Two and had not been reconstructed as a result of de-Germanization of the Recovered Territories....

Iron complexes with terminal and nonbridging phosphanido ligands
PublicationThis review discusses known iron complexes with terminal-bonded and nonbridging phosphanido ligands R2Pand their analogs, such as phosphanylphosphanido, borylphosphanido and oligophosphanido groups, that have been reported since 1960s. Particular attention is focused on the synthesis and structural features of these complexes, which have a direct impact on their philicity and further reactivity. Moreover, their application in catalysis...

Formation of polyphosphorus ligands mediated by zirconium and hafnium complexes
PublicationThe reactions of R2P–P(SiMe3)Li (R = tBu, iPr, iPr2N) with [Cp2MCl2] (M = Zr, Hf), [Cp∗CpZrCl2] and [CpZrCl3] yielded polyphosphorus (mainly hexaphosphorus) compounds which can be viewed as intermediates between R2P–P(SiMe3)Li and derivatives of 1,2,3,4-tetraphosphabicyclo[1.1.0] butane. Thus R2P–P(SiMe3)Li can act as a building block for the formation of the P2 ligand and the R2P–P(P2) and R2P–P(P2)P–PR2 moieties. Solid state...

Molecular Recognition in Complexes of TRF Proteins with Telomeric DNA
PublicationTelomeres are specialized nucleoprotein assemblies that protect the ends of linear chromosomes. In humans and many other species, telomeres consist of tandem TTAGGG repeats bound by a protein complex known as shelterin that remodels telomeric DNA into a protective loop structure and regulates telomere homeostasis. Shelterin recognizes telomeric repeats through its two major components known as Telomere Repeat-Binding Factors, TRF1...

PublicationThe reactivity of the phosphanylphosphinidene complex [(DippN)2W(Cl)(η2-P-PtBu2)]− (1) toward chalcogens (Ch = Se, S) was studied. Reactions of stoichiometric amounts of 1 with chalcogens in DME yielded monomeric tungsten complexes with phosphanylphosphinidene chalcogenide ligands of the formula tBu2P−P−Ch (Ch = Se (in 2) and S (in 5)), which can be regarded as products of the addition of a chalcogen atom to a P=W bond in starting...

The Reactivity of Phosphanylphosphinidene Complexes of Transition Metals Toward Terminal Dihaloalkanes

The reactions of the anionic tungsten complex (1) with stochiometric Br(CH2)nBr (n = 3, 4, 6) led to the formation of neutral complexes with a tBu2PP(CH2)3Br ligand or neutral dinuclear complexes with unusual tetradentate...

Syntheses and structures of the first terminal phosphanylphosphido complexes of molybdenum(IV)
PublicationThe reactions of R2P-P(SiMe3)Li (R = tBu, iPr2N) with [Cp2MoCl2] yield terminal phosphanylphosphido complexes formally via the insertion of the phosphinidene P-atom into the C - H bond of a cyclopentadienyl ring and the migration of the hydrogen atom or SiMe3 moiety to the molybdenum centre. Solid state structures of [Cp(C5H4P-PtBu2)MoH], [Cp(C5H4P-PtBu2)Mo(SiMe3)] and [Cp{C5H4P-P(NiPr2)2}Mo(SiMe3)] were established by single crystal...

Charge transfer and formation of complexes in the He+ collisions with the furan molecules
PublicationCharge transfer and formation of the collision complexes have been studied experimentally in fragmentation of the furan molecules in collisions with He+ cations. The excited atomic and diatomic fragments of furan have been identified using collision-induced luminescence spectroscopy. Charge transfer ionization of the furan molecules has been observed in production of helium atoms in the excited 1s4d 1D2, 3D1,2,3 states. The fragmentation...
