Easy formation of acyl-Meldrum's acid anhydride
PublikacjaAcyl Meldrum's acid are usually a good source of ketenes upon definite thermal composition. However we treated acyl-Meldrum's acid with the Lewis acid and we observed formation of 5[[(2,2-dimethyl-4,6-dioxo-1,3-dioxan 5 ylidene)(acyl/arylamino)mathoxy](acyl/arylamino)methylene]-2,2dimethyl-1,3-dioxane-4,6 dione which means acyl-Meldrum's acid anhydride. The chemical properities of acyl-Meldrum's acid anhydride were explored.

Aspects of pollution in Gdansk and gdynia Harbours at the coastal zone of the South Baltic Sea
PublikacjaOrganotin compounds (OTC), as well as metals, are toxic to many organisms. Even at very low concentrations OTC and metals can have several negative effects. The paper discusses key issues relating to the location of harbours in the coastal zone (including near the river mouths and semi-closed access to the sea) and the pollution of harbour sediments with heavy metals (e.g. zinc, copper, nickel and lead) and organotin derivatives...

Enthalpies of formation of rare earth niobates, RE3NbO7
PublikacjaHigh-temperature oxide melt solution calorimetry was used to investigate energetics of a series of rare earth niobates RE3NbO7. All of investigated compounds were found to be stable in enthalpy in respect to their oxides. The enthalpy of formation from oxides becomes more exothermic as the size of the RE cation increases, a trend seen previously in other RE compounds including pyrochlores, perovskites, and phosphates. For smaller...

Some aspects of noise generated by a small ship in the shallow sea
PublikacjaThe passing and underwater moving objects produce the noises of variable intensity, which significantly increase the overall level of noise in the sea. This applies to both the sonic and ultrasonic range. The excessive levels of underwater noise adversely affects the so-called underwater acoustic climate and is the reason why this phenomenon is intensively investigated from the number of years. The results of experimental work...

Living and working beneath the sea – next approach
PublikacjaThe idea of living beneath the sea is very new if compared with millennia of shipping activity. In fact, ocean surface was considered mainly as medium suitable for transport of persons and goods as well as aggression and robbery. The presented concept of “an underwater-above water accommodation, especially for residential purposes”...

Formation of polyphosphorus ligands mediated by zirconium and hafnium complexes
PublikacjaThe reactions of R2P–P(SiMe3)Li (R = tBu, iPr, iPr2N) with [Cp2MCl2] (M = Zr, Hf), [Cp∗CpZrCl2] and [CpZrCl3] yielded polyphosphorus (mainly hexaphosphorus) compounds which can be viewed as intermediates between R2P–P(SiMe3)Li and derivatives of 1,2,3,4-tetraphosphabicyclo[1.1.0] butane. Thus R2P–P(SiMe3)Li can act as a building block for the formation of the P2 ligand and the R2P–P(P2) and R2P–P(P2)P–PR2 moieties. Solid state...

Impact of the Artificial Strait in the Vistula Spit on the Hydrodynamics of the Vistula Lagoon (Baltic Sea)
PublikacjaIn the Vistula Lagoon, storm surges are induced by variable sea levels in the Gulf of Gdańsk and wind action. The rising of the water level in the southern part of the basin, exceeding 1.0 m above mean sea level, can be dangerous for the lowland area of Żuławy Elbląskie, causing the inundation of the polders adjacent to the lagoon. One of the potential possibilities to limit the flood risk is to decrease the water level in the...
