FURTHER REMARKS ON THE SURFACE VIS IMPRESSA CAUSED BY A FLUID-SOLID CONTACT
PublikacjaIt is well-known that, nano-mechanics should take into account not only physical phenomena occuring within the bulk but, first of all, the physical phenomena appropriate for a surface of two materials contact. The huge volume density of internal surfaces as well countours lines located within the nanomaterial results in our interest in, apart from classical form of mass, momentum and entropy transport, those modes of transportation...

Wavepacket of the Universe and its Spreading
PublikacjaWavepackets in quantum mechanics spread and the Universe in cosmology expands. We discuss a formalism where the two effects can be unified. The basic assumption is that the Universe is determined by a unitarily evolving wavepacket defined on space-time. Space-time is static but the Universe is dynamic. Spreading analogous to expansion known from observational cosmology is obtained if one regards time evolution as a dynamical process...

Expedited two-objective dimension scaling of compact microwave passives using surrogate models
PublikacjaGeometry scaling of compact microwave structures is a challenging problem because of complex relationships between the physical dimensions and electrical characteristics, mostly caused by considerable cross-couplings in densely arranged layouts. Here, a procedure for expedited dimension scaling of compact microwave couplers with respect to two independent criteria has been presented. Our approach involves inverse surrogate models...

Regularized Local Multivariate Reduced-Order Models With Nonaffine Parameter Dependence
PublikacjaThis paper addresses a singular problem, not yet discussed in the literature, which occurs when parametric reduced-order models are created using a subspace projection approach with multiple concatenated projection bases. We show that this technique may lead to the appearance of localized artifacts in the frequency characteristics of a system, even when the reduced-order projection basis is rich enough to describe the original...

Reduced order models in computational electromagnetics (in memory of Ruediger Vahldieck)
PublikacjaThis paper reviews research of Ruediger Vahldieck's group and the group at the Gdansk University of Technology in the area of model order reduction techniques for accelerating full-wave simulations. The applications of reduced order models to filter design as well as of local and nested(multilevel) macromodels for solving 3D wave equations and wave-guiding problems using finite difference and finite element methods are discussed.

Expedited Acquisition of Database Designs for Reduced-Cost Performance-Driven Modeling and Rapid Dimension Scaling of Antenna Structures
PublikacjaFast replacement models have been playing an increasing role in high-frequency electronics, including the design of antenna structures. Their role is to improve computational efficiency of the procedures that normally entail large numbers of expensive full-wave electromagnetic (EM) simulations, e.g., parametric optimization or uncertainty quantification. Recently introduced performance-driven modeling methods, such as the nested...

Reduced-order models in the finite element analysis
PublikacjaA novel technique of incorporating macromodels into finite element electromagnetic analysis of waveguide components is presented. Macromodels are generated by using a model order reduction algorithm (ENOR), which results in significant decrease of the number of variables, that describe the computational region. Proposed technique allows for using a few independent macromodels as well as to duplicating one macromodel in many subregions...

Reduced order models of refined Yee´s cells.
PublikacjaArtykuł opisuje nowe podejście zwiększające dokładność metody różnic skończonych za pomocą lokalnego zagęszczenia siatki. Obszar niewiele większy niż pojedyncza komórka Yee jest pokrywany gęstą siatką, a jej makromodel jest stworzony metodą redukcji rzędu modelu równań stanu w dziedzinie częstotliwości. Makromodele są użyte w metodach różnic skończonych w dziedzinie częstotliwości i czasu całej struktury. Inaczej niż w przypadku...

Parametrized Local Reduced-Order Models With Compressed Projection Basis for Fast Parameter-Dependent Finite-Element Analysis
PublikacjaThis paper proposes an automated parametric local model-order reduction scheme for the expedited design of microwave devices using the full-wave finite-element method (FEM). The approach proposed here results in parameterized reduced-order models (ROMs) that account for the geometry and material variation in the selected subregion of the structure. In each subregion, a parameter-dependent projection basis is generated by concatenating...

Empirical verification in industrial conditions of fracture mechanics models of cutting power prediction
PublikacjaA comparison of experimental results obtained in the industrial conditions at a sawmill located in the Baltic Natural Forest Region (PL) and theoretical cutting power consumption forecasted with the models which include work of separation (fracture toughness) in addition to plasticity and friction has been described. In computations of cutting power consumption during rip sawing of Scots pine wood (Pinus sylvestris L.) values of...

Reduction of vibrations of steel structure models with Polymeric Bearings - experimental study
PublikacjaEarthquake-induced ground motions are the most severe and unpredictable threats to the structures all around the world. Therefore, designing earthquake protective systems has become an extremely challenging problem in civil engineering. Base isolation is one of the most popular and widely adopted methods of protecting structures against earthquake forces. The present paper reports the results obtained from the shaking table experimental...

User-assisted methodology targeted for building structure interpretable QSPR models for boosting CO2 capture with ionic liquids
PublikacjaTask-specific ionic liquid (IL) is an emerging class of compounds that may be environmentally friendly. Properly selected, these compounds may be green alternative to amine solutions and can replace them in post-combustion carbon dioxide (CO2) capture processes on an industrial scale. However, owing to the vast diversity of ions and their possible combinations, laboratory research is time consuming and expensive. Therefore, computational...
