Silver complexes stabilized by large silanethiolate ligands – crystal structures and luminescence properties
PublikacjaBulky silanethiolate and disiladithiolate ligands were applied to synthesize one mononuclear and three trinuclear silver complexes including two cyclic “microclusters” and a linear tri-nuclear silanethiolate complex. All obtained compounds are characterized by X-ray diffraction and FT-IR. NMR and emission spectroscopies were used where possible. The first trinuclear anionic silver thiolate is structurally characterized. The influence...

Probing the Magnetic Anisotropy of Co(II) Complexes Featuring Redox-Active Ligands
PublikacjaCoordination complexes that possess large magnetic anisotropy (otherwise known as zero-field splitting, ZFS) have possible applications in the field of magnetic materials, including single molecule magnets (SMMs). Previous studies have explored the role of coordination number and geometry in controlling the magnetic anisotropy and SMM behavior of high-spin (S = 3/2) Co(II) complexes. Building upon these efforts, the present work...

Towards defragmented Lighting Design: concatenating research theories for effective use in design practices.
PublikacjaThis paper aims to provide guidelines for transferring design research to practice in the realm of lighting. It is based on the premise that design research in lighting should function as a development of practice, instead of being a distraction to it. Design research refers to the scholarly inquiry that seeks to advance design by studying and improving it in systematic and scientific ways by expanding, testing and operationalizing...

Influence of a Lighting Column in the Working Width of a W-Beam Barrier on TB51 Crash Test
PublikacjaRoad equipment, such as, e.g., road safety barriers and lighting columns, are subject to certification according to the EN1317 standard to be allowed for use on European roads. In engineering practice, due to the terrain conditions, there are cases where other road equipment is installed within the working width of road safety barriers. Such situations are not considered during the certification process. Hence, the aim of this...

An investigation on the chemistry of the R2P=P ligand: reactions of a phosphanylphosphinidene complex of tungsten(VI) with electrophilic reagents
PublikacjaThe nucleophilic properties of the title compound [(2,6-i-Pr2C6H3N)2(Cl)W(η2-t-Bu2PvP)]Li·3DME (1) were investigated in reactions with selected electrophilic reagents such as MeI, M(CO)5THF (M = Cr, Mo, W), AlCl3, and GaCl3. Methylation of 1 by MeI yields phosphanylphosphido complexes [(2,6-i-Pr2C6H3N)2W(X)(1,2-η-t-Bu2PvP–CH3)] (X = Cl, I) (2-Cl/2-I) with the formation of a new P–C bond. Moreover, 1 reacts with electrophilic compounds...

Improving Thermal Insulation Properties for Prefabricated Wall Components Made of Lightweight Aggregate Concrete with Open Structure
PublikacjaPorous concrete is commonly used in civil engineering due to its good thermal insulation properties in comparison with normal concrete and high compression strength in comparison with other building materials. An extremely porous concrete, called ‘lightweight aggregate concrete with open structure’ (LAC), is used in some German plants to produce prefabricated wall components. They are used mainly in hall buildings, e.g. supermarkets....

Dynamic analysis of lightweight structure of the Viaduct Millau in France subjected to the wind fluctuations described by Karman’s and Davenport’s spectrum
PublikacjaThe article presents numerical simulations for wind impact modelling on the Millau Viaduct structure in France performed with two independent spectrum generation methods. The viaduct's construction in affected by strong forces, as it is situated in the Tarn river's valley. Thus, the loading coming from the wind cannot be modelled, the way it is in case of simple structures as static loading, but as a loading in a form of a spectrum...
