Synthesis of Cyano-Benzylidene Xanthene Synthons Using a Diprotic Brønsted Acid Catalyst, and Their Application as Efficient Inhibitors of Aluminum Corrosion in Alkaline Solutions
PublikacjaNovel cyano-benzylidene xanthene derivatives were synthesized using one-pot and condensation reactions. A diprotic Brønsted acid (i.e., oxalic acid) was used as an effective catalyst for the promotion of the synthesis process of the new starting xanthene–aldehyde compound. Different xanthene concentrations (ca. 0.1–2.0 mM) were applied as corrosion inhibitors to control the alkaline uniform corrosion of aluminum. Measurements were...

Potential Energy Curves of Diatomic Alkali Molecules Datasets
PublikacjaThe datasets described in this article contain potential energy curves for several diatomic systems. The data was obtained via high-performance computing using MOLPRO, a system of ab initio programs for advanced molecular electronic structure calculations. The datasets allow to model bond lengths, energy levels, spectra and time-evolution of molecular dimers for which the data are presented.

Inhibiting activity of HIV-1: protease, reverse transcriptase and integrase all together by novel compounds using computational approaches (flexible and rigid docking)
PublikacjaAcquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), caused by human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) infection, is one of the most challenging diseases in recent decades. Nevertheless the shortcomings of chemical drugs such as toxicity, lack of curative effects, the search for more potent anti-HIV agents have been focused in our study. In current study, novel scaffold was designed having a benzyl and imidazole in it which are very...

The structure of dimethylsulfoxide-solvated magnesium and calcium ions in solution and the solid state, and overview of the coordination chemistry of hydrated and solvated alkaline earth metal ions
PublikacjaOznaczono strukturę w stanie stałym i ciekłym solwatowanych jonów magnezu i wapnia w dimetylosulfotlenku. Stwierdzono, ze jony te tworzą sześciokoordynacyjne solwaty ze średnią długością wiązań Mg-O i Ca-O 2.062(4) i 2.303(5)A. Przegląd literaturowy ukazał, że jony berylu i magnezu we wszystkich rozpuszczalnikach tworzą odpowiednio cztero- i sześciokoordynacyjne solwaty, podczas gdy jony wapnia i strontu istnieją jako ośmiokoordynacyjne...

The effect of Fe on chemical stability and oxygen evolution performance of high surface area SrTix-1FexO3-δ mixed ionic-electronic conductors in alkaline media
PublikacjaDevelopment of environmentally friendly, high performing oxygen evolution reaction (OER) catalysts is an important research challenge. In this work, iron doped strontium titanates with a general formula SrTi1-xFexO3-δ (x = 0.35, 0.50, 0.70, 0.90, and 1.00) denoted as STFx, were synthesized via a solid state reaction technique and characterized in terms of oxygen evolution reaction electrocatalysis in an alkaline electrolyte (0.1...

Positron binding to alkali-metal hydrides: The role of molecular vibrations
PublikacjaThe bound vibrational levels for J=0 have been computed for the series of alkali-metal hydride molecules from LiH to RbH, including NaH and KH. For all four molecules the corresponding potential-energy curves have been obtained for each isolated species and for its positron-bound complex (e+XH). It is found that the calculated positron affinity values strongly depend on the molecular vibrational state for which they are obtained...

The influence of Be addition on the structure and thermal properties of alkali-silicate glasses
PublikacjaBe-Na-(Li)-Si oxide glasses containing up to 15 mol% of BeO were prepared. Their structure was characterized by X-ray powder diffraction and Raman as well as infrared spectroscopic techniques, while their chemical compositions were examined by Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometry. All materials were found to be amorphous and contain Al contaminations from minor dissolution of the alumina crucibles. The results...

Nonlinear impedance in oxide glasses containing single and mixed alkali ions
PublikacjaThe aim of the present was to find more clues on the nonlinearities in impedance of oxide glasses. The first family of researched glasses has a composition of FeO-P2O5-Na2O. Oxide glasses containing iron and alkali are well known for a very low alkali ion mobility and may be considered purely polaron conducting. These glasses show no detectable nonlinearities in the impedance spectra. The second was a family of ionic conducting...

Molecular docking studies towards development of novel Gly-Phe analogs for potential inhibition of Cathepsin C (dipeptidyl peptidase I).
PublikacjaCathepsin C is a cysteine protease required for activation of various pro-inflammatory serine proteases and, essentially, is of interest as a therapeutic target. Cathepsin C coordinate system was employed as a model to study the interaction of some already available inhibitors of Cathepsin C. Compounds containing Gly-Phe fragment with functional groups at its ends were designed by knowledge based approach. Using AutoDock and...

Genetic and pharmacologic proteasome augmentation ameliorates Alzheimer’s-like pathology in mouse and fly APP overexpression models
PublikacjaThe proteasome has key roles in neuronal proteostasis, including the removal of misfolded and oxidized proteins, presynaptic protein turnover, and synaptic efficacy and plasticity. Proteasome dysfunction is a prominent feature of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). We show that prevention of proteasome dysfunction by genetic manipulation delays mortality, cell death, and cognitive deficits in fly and cell culture AD models. We developed...
