Fault detection in the marine engine using a support vector data description method
PublikacjaFast detection and correct diagnosis of any engine condition changes are essential elements of safety andenvironmental protection. Many diagnostic algorithms significantly improve the detection of malfunctions.Studies on diagnostic methods are rarely reported and even less implemented in the marine engine industry. To fill this gap, this paper presents the Support Vector Data Description (SVDD) method as applied to thefault detection...

Influence of the analyzing window on electrode impedance measurement by thecontinuous freqency scanning method

Implementation of an input-output method of diagnosis of analog electronic circuits in embedded systems
PublikacjaPrzedstawiono implementację zmodyfikowanej metody 2D detekcji i lokalizacji uszkodzeń sieci analogowych z uwzględnieniem tolerancji elementów nieuszkodzonych w systemach wbudowanych bazujących na mikrokontrolerach.

A new method of ship routing on raster grids, with turn penalties and collision avoidance
Przedstawiono dwa warianty metody, dedykowane odpowiednio systemom pokładowym...

A method for the three-dimensional and synchronous resolution of functional and spatial matters in architectural design
PublikacjaThe article discusses the issue of applied methods of teaching architectural design at Polish universities. The authors review the common methods based on conceptual drawings solving design problems in only two dimensions. After completing the floor plans' sketching process carried out in 2D way the 3D virtual models are made - seldom cardboard mock-ups - to illustrate the final spatial form of the designed object. At the Faculty...

Optical flow method for measuring deformation of soil specimen subjected to torsional shearing
PublikacjaIn this study optical flow method was used for soil small deformation measurement in laboratory tests. The main objective was to observe how the deformation distributes along the whole height of cylindrical soil specimen subjected to torsional shearing (TS test). The experiments were conducted on dry non-cohesive soil specimens under two values of isotropic pressure. Specimens were loaded with low-amplitude cyclic torque to analyze...

An Instantaneous Engine Speed Estimation Method Using Multiple Matching Synchrosqueezing Transform
PublikacjaInstantaneous rotational speed measurement of the engine is crucial in routine inspection and maintenance of an automobile engine. Since the contact measurement of rotational speed is not always available, the vibration measurement has been used for noncontact rotational speed estimation methods. Unfortunately, the accuracy of the noncontact estimation methods by analyzing engine vibration frequency is not satisfactory due to the...

Extended Newmark method to assess stability of slope under bidirectional seismic loading
PublikacjaThe paper concerns the dynamic behavior of a simple slope model subjected to simultaneous horizontal and vertical excitations. The proposed method is based on Newmark’s sliding block concept, however, four new features are introduced. The most important assumption is that the normal component of dynamic excitations affects the resisting force both before and after the initiation of the relative slope motion, making it time-dependent....

A Compact Basis for Reliable Fast Frequency Sweep via the Reduced-Basis Method
PublikacjaA reliable reduced-order model (ROM) for fast frequency sweep in time-harmonic Maxwell’s equations by means of the reduced-basis method is detailed. Taking frequency as a parameter, the electromagnetic field in microwave circuits does not arbitrarily vary as frequency changes, but evolves on a very low-dimensional manifold. Approximating this low-dimensional manifold by a low dimension subspace, namely, reduced-basis space, gives...

Standard deviation as the optimization criterion in the OptD method and its influence on the generated DTM
PublikacjaReduction of the measurement dataset is one of the current issues related to constantly developing technologies that provide large datasets, eg. laser scanning. It could seems that presence and evolution of processors computer, increase of hard drive capacity etc. is the solution for development of such large datasets. And in fact it is, however, the “lighter” datasets are easier to work with. Additionally, reduced datasets can...

A novel calibration method for RSS-based DoA estimation using ESPAR antennas
PublikacjaIn this paper, we introduce a new calibration method that can successfully be used in direction of arrival (DoA) estimation using electronically steerable parasitic array radiator (ESPAR) antennas and employing power-pattern cross-correlation (PPCC) algorithm, which relies on received signal strength (RSS) values recorded at the antenna output port. Instead of the commonly used two-step approach, during which ESPAR antenna calibration...

A Simplified Method of Trend Removal to Determine Noise Observed During a Supercapacitor’s Discharging
PublikacjaIn this paper, new method of trend removal is proposed. This is a simplified method based on Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD). The method was applied for voltage time series observed during supercapacitor discharging process. It assured the determination of an additive noise component after subtracting the identified trend component. We analyzed voltage time series observed between the terminals of the supercapacitor when discharged...

Efficient Fabry-Perot Open Resonator Analysis by the use of a Scattering Matrix Method
PublikacjaIn this paper a comparative study of the computational efficiency of two modeling methods applied to the analysis of the plano- and double-concave Fabry-Perot open resonators is presented. In both numerical approaches, a scattering matrix method was applied, which allows splitting the analysis of the resonator into several sections, including the one with a spherical mirror, which requires the largest computing resources. Two modeling...
