Influence of e-beam irradiation on poly(aliphatic/aromatic-ester) multiblock copolymers used as biomaterials
PublicationThe use of polymers became more relevant in medical applications for the versatility in processing and enhanced material properties of polymers. In order to be suitable as a biomaterial, it is of medical importance that these polymers are biocompatible and do not elicit negative responses from the body after implantation. Furthermore during the course of usage under load-bearing conditions, these biomaterials must sustain dynamical...

A Low-Profile 3-D Printable Metastructure for Performance Improvement of Aperture Antennas
PublicationIn order to increase the radiation performance of aperture-type antennas, this paper demonstrates a low-profile, planar, single-layer, three-dimensional (3-D) printable metastructure. The proposed hybridized metastructure is highly transparent as it is made out of novel hybrid meta-atoms having transmission coefficient magnitudes greater than -0.72 dB and fully complies with the near-field phase transformation principle. The hybridized...

Impact of Spatial Noise Correlation on Bearing Accuracy in DIFAR Systems
PublicationDIFAR type underwater passive systems are one of the more commonly used tools for detecting submarines. At the design stage, which usually uses computer simulations, it is necessary to generate acoustic noise of the sea. It has been shown that correlating noise significantly reduces these errors compared to the assumption that noise is uncorrelated. In addition, bearing errors have been shown to be the same in systems with a commonly...

Estimation of musical sound separation algorithm effectiveness employing neural networks.

Some aspects of noise generated by a small ship in the shallow sea
PublicationThe passing and underwater moving objects produce the noises of variable intensity, which significantly increase the overall level of noise in the sea. This applies to both the sonic and ultrasonic range. The excessive levels of underwater noise adversely affects the so-called underwater acoustic climate and is the reason why this phenomenon is intensively investigated from the number of years. The results of experimental work...

Nodal cooperation equilibrium analysis in multi-hop wireless ad hoc networks with a reputation system
PublicationMotivated by the concerns of cooperation security, this work examines selected principles of state-of-the-art reputation systems for multi-hop ad hoc networks and their impact upon optimal strategies for rational nodes. An analytic framework is proposed and used for identification of effective cooperation-enforcement schemes.
