On joint order and bandwidth selection for identification of nonstationary autoregressive processes
PublicationWhen identifying a nonstationary autoregressive process, e.g. for the purpose of signal prediction or parametric spectrum estimation, two important decisions must be taken. First, one should choose the appropriate order of the autoregressive model, i.e., the number of autoregressive coefficients that will be estimated. Second, if identification is carried out using the local estimation technique, such as the localized version of...

A convergence result for mountain pass periodic solutions of perturbed Hamiltonian systems
PublicationIn this work, we study second-order Hamiltonian systems under small perturbations. We assume that the main term of the system has a mountain pass structure, but do not suppose any condition on the perturbation. We prove the existence of a periodic solution. Moreover, we show that periodic solutions of perturbed systems converge to periodic solutions of the unperturbed systems if the perturbation tends to zero. The assumption on...

Thus, we refer to such technology as decisional trust. For us, decisional trust can be achieved through the use of elements such as the decisional DNA, reflexive ontologies, and security models; and therefore, we present in this article a framework that was used for the implementation of...

Monotone iterative method for first-order differential equations at resonance
PublicationThis paper concerns the application of the monotone iterative technique for first-order differential equations involving Stieltjes integrals conditions. We discuss such problems at resonance when the measure in the Stieltjes integral is positive and also when this measure changes the sign. Sufficient conditions which guarantee the existence of extremal, unique and quasi-solutions are given. Three examples illustrate the results.

Numerical Test for Stability Evaluation of Discrete-Time Systems
PublicationIn this paper, a new numerical test for stability evaluation of discrete-time systems is presented. It is based on modern root-finding techniques at the complex plane employing the Delaunay triangulation and Cauchy's Argument Principle. The method evaluates if a system is stable and returns possible values and multiplicities of unstable zeros of the characteristic equation. For state-space discrete-time models, the developed test...

Fractional Order Circuit Elements Derived from Electromagnetism
PublicationIn this paper, derivations of fractional-order (FO) circuit-element equations from electromagnetism are presented. Whilst many papers are devoted to FO modelling of electrical circuits, there are no strong foundations for such an approach. Computational collective intelligence for enterprise information systems

There are two important aspects of an intelligent collective: The cooperation aspect and the competition aspect (Levy 1997). The first of them means the possibility for integrating the decisions made by the collective members for creating the decision of...

Reduced-Cost Design Optimization of High-Frequency Structures Using Adaptive Jacobian Updates
PublicationElectromagnetic (EM) analysis is the primary tool utilized in the design of high-frequency structures. In vast majority of cases, simpler models (e.g., equivalent networks or analytical ones) are either not available or lack accuracy: they can only be used to yield initial designs that need to be further tuned. Consequently, EM-driven adjustment of geometry and/or material parameters of microwave and antenna components is a necessary...
