Measurement of mass flow of viscous liquid through a Cylindrical Orifice under laminar flow (CylOr)
Open Research DataThe data was obtained as part of the project "Measurement of mass flow of viscous liquid through a Cylindrical Orifice under laminar flow (CylOr)", in which flow tests of hydraulic oil through a cylindrical orifice with a thickness of l = 25 mm and a throat b = 0.5 (diameter pipes D = 50 mm, orifice diameter d = 25 mm) on the test stand at the Department...

Nonlinear Interaction of Magnetoacoustic Modes in a Quasi-Isentropic Plasma Flow
PublicationThe nonlinear interaction of magnetoacoustic waves in a plasma is analytically studied. A plasma is an open system. It is affected by the straight constant equilibrium magnetic flux density forming constant angle with the wave vector which varies from 0 till . The nonlinear instantaneous equation which describes excitation of secondary wave modes in the field of intense magnetoacoustic perturbations is derived by use of projecting....

A framework of open government data (OGD) e-service quality dimensions with future research agenda
PublicationPurpose This research paper aims to present a framework of open government data (OGD) relating to e-service quality dimensions. In addition, it provides a research agenda for the e-service delivery of OGD. Design/methodology/approach A literature review pertaining to e-service quality with special reference to e-government was delivered to deduce the key dimensions of e-service quality for OGD. Findings Five e-service quality dimensions...

Electrohydrodynamic secondary flow and particle collection efficiency in spike-plate multi-electrode electrostatic precipitator
PublicationIn this work the results of electrohydrodynamic (EHD) secondary flow measurements in a spike-plate type electrostatic precipitator (ESP) are presented. In the investigated ESP two-sided and one-sided spike electrodes were used as a discharge electrodes. The results of 2D PIV measurements showed that flow pattern obtained for a different spike tips positions in respect to the primary flow direction significantly changing the flow...

The sources of contamination and reasons of damage of the flow part of the marine turbine engine in operation
PublicationThe aim of this paperis to show particular sensitivity of the flow part of the marine turbine engine to the presence of contaminations in the intake air. The contaminations form hard-to-remove deposits in the intervene channels that result in a reduced efficiency and performance of the engine. The paper classifies the contaminants according the source of their formation and their destructive force. The performed analyses and syntheses...

Fluid–solid interaction on a thin platelet with high-velocity flow: vibration modelling and experiment
PublicationThe paper concerns the nonlinear behaviour of a thin platelet that is streamlined in an aerodynamic tunnel. The air velocity in the aerodynamic tunnel was at 858.9 km/h or 0.7 Ma (Ma—Mach number is a dimensionless quantity in fluid dynamics representing the ratio of flow velocity past a boundary to the local speed of sound). This experiment was numerically simulated using FSI (fluid–solid interaction) tools, namely the coupling...

Open water experiments with two pod propulsor models.
PublicationReferat przedstawia obszerne eksperymenty hydromechaniczne z dwoma modelami pędników podowych. Jeden z nich jest pędnikiem pchającym o średnicy 0,32 m, drugi pędnikiem ciągnącym o średnicy 0,25 m. W trakcie pomiarów ustalono przebieg sześciu składowych siły i momentu hydrodynamicznego dla szerokiego zakresu zmian współczynnika posuwu i kąta dryfu.

Multidisciplinary Open System Transferring Knowledge for R2B Development
PublicationDespite many efforts, there is still a serious problem in transferring knowledge from research to business. The problem is especially visible in Poland – the cooperation of R2B is ineffective. We are trying to solve this problem using some IT support. The manuscript presents some solutions developed at the Gdańsk University of Technology. In particular, the platform called “MOST Knowledge” is deeply described. Its layer architecture,...

Modelling of saturated, subcooled and post-dryout flow boiling with the energy dissipation based semi-empirical model
PublicationA comprehensive semi-empirical model for saturated, subcooled and post dryout heat transfer is presented based on considerations of energy dissipation in the flow. The fundamental hypothesis in the model is the fact that heat transfer during flow boiling can be treated as a sum of two contributions constituting the total energy dissipation in the flow, namely the energy dissipation due to the shearing flow without the bubbles and...

Interline power flow controller - properties and control strategy in dynamic states
PublicationHigh-power electronic converter topologies, in such forms as Unified Power Flow Controllers (UPFC), Static Compensators (STATCOM) and Interline Power Flow Controllers (IPFC), have been used to enhance and optimize the use of transmission facilities, under the concept of a flexible ac transmission system (FACTS). In Europe, the anticipated proliferation of distributed-generation (DG) in the near future, driven by governmental initiatives...

Signals features extraction in radioisotope liquid-gas flow measurements using wavelet analysis
PublicationKnowledge of the structure of a flow is significant for the proper conduct of a number of industrial processes. In this case, a description of a two-phase flow regimes is possible by use of the time-series analysis in time, frequency and state-space domain. In this article the Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) is applied for analysis of signals obtained for water-air flow using gamma ray absorption. The presented method was illustrated...

An Experimental Investigation of Pressure Wave Celerity During the Transient Slurry Flow
PublicationTransportation of slurries in pressure pipelines is an example of a complex flow due to specific parameters of transported medium. For practitioners, the economy of designing and maintenance is usually the most important factor. For this reason, most of hydrotransport installations are fairly simple; however, they become more vulnerable to negative effects of the transient flow which can occur in pressure pipelines. As the consequence,...

Material Flow Analysis in a cooked mussel processing industry
PublicationGalicia (NW Spain) is an ideal environment for mussel culture owing to its excellent natural conditions. It is the first Spanish and European mussel producer and the second worldwide after China. More than 50% of the mussel collected in Galicia is used in the processing industry, which produces different products, as cooked mussel that is canned, frozen or used in the food industry. In this paper a methodology based on Life Cycle...

Design and investigations of a micro-turbine flow part
Publication-generative micro-power plant with the HFE7100 as a working medium was designed and built for experimental investigations. The heat output of the plant was assumed equal to 20 kW, while the electric output amounted to about 3kW.In the paper a multi-stage micro-turbine with partial admission of all the stages is described in detail and the results of the particular experimental investigations and numerical calculations are shown,...

Reduction of Computational Complexity in Simulations of the Flow Process in Transmission Pipelines
PublicationThe paper addresses the problem of computational efficiency of the pipe-flow model used in leak detection and identification systems. Analysis of the model brings attention to its specific structure, where all matrices are sparse. With certain rearrangements, the model can be reduced to a set of equations with tridiagonal matrices. Such equations can be solved using the Thomas algorithm. This method provides almost the same values...

Numerical single-phase modeling of turbulent flow and heat transfer of nanofluids
PublicationIn this work, Nusselt number and friction factor are calculated numerically for turbulent pipe flow (6 000< Re < 12 000) with constant heat flux boundary condition using nanofluids. The nanofluid is modelled with the single-phase approach and the simulation results are compared with published experimental data.

A New Approach to the PWM Modulation for the Multiphase Matrix Converters Supplying Loads with Open-End Winding.
PublicationThis article presents three variants of the Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) for the Double Square Multiphase type Conventional Matrix Converters (DSM-CMC) supplying loads with the open-end winding. The first variant of PWM offers the ability to obtain zero value of the common-mode voltage at the load's terminals and applies only six switches within the modulation period. The second proposal archives for less Total Harmonic Distortion...
