Nitrate and nitrite silver complexes with weakly coordinating nitriles
PublicationSimple system of weak nitrile ligands and silver nitrite/nitrate allowed the formation and isolation of coordination compounds of diverse nuclearity and dimensionality. The extension of the network does not enhance the luminescent properties of the ligands however it gives rise to the new MLCT bands in the visible region.

Theoretical Encapsulation of Fluorouracil (5-FU) Anti-Cancer Chemotherapy Drug into Carbon Nanotubes (CNT) and Boron Nitride Nanotubes (BNNT)
PublicationIntroduction: Chemotherapy with anti-cancer drugs is considered the most common approach for killing cancer cells in the human body. However, some barriers such as toxicity and side effects would limit its usage. In this regard, nano-based drug delivery systems have emerged as cost-effective and efficient for sustained and targeted drug delivery. Nanotubes such as carbon nanotubes (CNT) and boron nitride nanotubes (BNNT) are promising...

Stress-driven nonlocal elasticity for nonlinear vibration characteristics of carbon/boron-nitride hetero-nanotube subject to magneto-thermal environment
PublicationStress-driven nonlocal theory of elasticity, in its differential form, is applied to investigate the nonlinear vibrational characteristics of a hetero-nanotube in magneto-thermal environment with the help of finite element method. In order to more precisely deal with the dynamic behavior of size-dependent nanotubes, a two-node beam element with six degrees-of freedom including the nodal values of the deflection, slope and curvature...

Nonlocal Vibration of Carbon/Boron-Nitride Nano-hetero-structure in Thermal and Magnetic Fields by means of Nonlinear Finite Element Method
PublicationHybrid nanotubes composed of carbon and boron-nitride nanotubes have manifested as innovative building blocks to exploit the exceptional features of both structures simultaneously. On the other hand, by mixing with other types of materials, the fabrication of relatively large nanotubes would be feasible in the case of macroscale applications. In the current article, a nonlinear finite element formulation is employed to deal with...

Numerical analysis of crack propagation in silicone nitride
PublicationThe properties of ceramics, specifically low density, high hardness, high temperature capability and low coefficient of thermal expansion are of most interest to rolling element manufacturers. The influence of ring crack size on rolling contact fatigue failure has been studied using numerical fracture analysis. Such cracks are very often found on ceramic bearing balls and decrease fatigue life rapidly. The numerical calculation...

Unraveling the role of boron dimers in the electrical anisotropy and superconductivity in boron-doped diamond
PublicationWe use quantum mechanics (QM) to determine the states formed by B dopants in diamond. We find that isolated B sites prefer to form BB dimers and that the dimers pair up to form tetramers (BBCBB) that prefer to aggregate parallel to the (111) surface in the <110> direction, one double layer below the H-terminated surface double layer. These tetramers lead to metallic character (Mott metal Insulator Transition) with holes in the...

Electrochemical oxidation of sulphamerazine at boron-doped diamond electrodes: Influence of boron concentration
PublicationThe boron-doped diamond (BDD) electrodes with different boron concentrations have been tested as electrode material for sulphamerazine (SRM) oxidation in water solution. An investigation of the electrode morphology and molecular structure was carried out using high resolution scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Raman spectroscopy. Electrochemical results showed clearly that the kinetics and efficiency of SRM oxidation were dependent...

The influence oil additives on spread cracks in silicon nitride
PublicationThe paper presents an experimental study of the influence of oil additives (Cl, S, P, cerium dioxide (CeO2)) on spread cracks in silicon nitride. The additives Cl, S, P are bound in molecules in liquid form soluble in the base oil. The CeO2 is purely in powder form in suspension. The use of CeO2 powder was made based on the good results of polishing of silicon nitride. A ceramic angular contact ball bearing was modelled using a...

Comparison of the paracetamol electrochemical determination using boron-doped diamond electrode and boron-doped carbon nanowalls
PublicationTwo different type of electrodes, boron-doped diamond electrode (BDD) and boron-doped carbon nanowalls (B:CNW) electrode, were used for the electrochemical determination of paracetamol using the cyclic voltammetry and the differential pulse voltammetry in phosphate buffered saline, pH = 7.0. The main advantage of these electrodes is their utilization without any additional modification of the electrode surface. The peak current...

Ellipsometric study of carbon nitride films deposited by DC-magnetron sputtering
PublicationWe report the optical properties of a carbon nitride (CNx) film as a function of nitrogen concentration (N/C) of the deposited film. As nitrogen concentration is increased (N/C ratio) in a CNx film, the refractive index and band gap also increase. The real and imaginary parts, n and k (refractive index and extinction coefficient) of the complex refraction index of carbon nitride films were determined by spectroscopic ellipsometry...

The effect of boron concentration on the electrical, morphological and optical properties of boron-doped nanocrystalline diamond sheets: Tuning the diamond-on-graphene vertical junction
PublicationIn this paper, the effect of boron doping on the electrical, morphological and structural properties of free-standing nanocrystalline diamond sheets (thickness ~ 1 μm) was investigated. For this purpose, we used diamond films delaminated from a mirror-polished tantalum substrate following a microwave plasma-assisted chemical vapor deposition process, each grown with a different [B]/[C] ratio (up to 20,000 ppm) in the gas phase....
