Material Parameters Identification of Historic Lighthouse Based on Operational Modal Analysis
PublikacjaIn the present paper, the identification of the material parameters of a masonry lighthouse is discussed. A fully non-invasive method was selected, in which the material properties were determined via numerical model validation applied to the first pair of natural frequencies and their related mode shapes, determined experimentally. The exact structural model was built by means of the finite element method. To obtain experimental...

Informal employment in Poland: an empirical spatial analysis
PublikacjaThe main goal of our article is to bridge the gap in the regional analysis of informal employment in Poland and in particular to indicate the propensity for informal work in the working-age population, to test if informal activities are typical for marginalized people (less educated, unemployed, older) and to identify the regional and spatial heterogeneity in the propensity. We use data from the ‘Human Capital Balance 2010–2014’...

Fast EM-Driven Nature-Inspired Optimization of Antenna Input Characteristics Using Response Features and Variable-Resolution Simulation Models
PublikacjaUtilization of optimization technique is a must in the design of contemporary antenna systems. Often, global search methods are necessary, which are associated with high computational costs when conducted at the level of full-wave electromagnetic (EM) models. In this study, we introduce an innovative method for globally optimizing reflection responses of multi-band antennas. Our approach uses surrogates constructed based on response...

Modelling and analysis of beam/bar structure by application of bond graphs
PublikacjaThe paper presents an uniform, port-based approach to modelling of beam/bar systems (trusses). Port-based model of such distributed parameter system has been defined by application of the bond graph methodology and the distributed transfer function method (DTFM). The proposed method of modelling enables to formulate input data for computer analysis by application of the DTFM. The constructed computational package enables the frequency...

An analysis of observability and detectability for different sets of measured outputs - CSTR case study
PublikacjaA problem of proving the observability/detectability at a given measured output for non-linear biochemical systems has been addressed in this paper. A theory of indistinguishable state trajectories has been used to prove the properties of the observability or detectability of this system. It is related to taking system dynamics into consideration depending on initial conditions and the impact of inputs taking into account a given...

Neural Network-Based Sequential Global Sensitivity Analysis Algorithm
PublikacjaPerforming global sensitivity analysis (GSA) can be challenging due to the combined effect of the high computational cost, but it is also essential for engineering decision making. To reduce this cost, surrogate modeling such as neural networks (NNs) are used to replace the expensive simulation model in the GSA process, which introduces the additional challenge of finding the minimum number of training data samples required to...

Adapting the pinch point analysis to improve the ORC design process
PublikacjaPinch point analysis can be adapted so as to assist in the early stages of designing the ORC systems. Typically used in determining the working parameters of heat exchangers, it can be employed to improve the heat fitting between the source of heat and the working fluids of the ORC system. To attain the parametric match, an algorithm was built enabling quick estimation of the possible heat reception by the specific working fluid....
