ANYTIME POLYNOMIAL HEURISTIC ALGORITHM FOR PARTITIONING GROUPS OF DATA WITH PRESERVING CLASS PROPORTIONS FOR CROSS-VALIDATION
PublikacjaThe article describes a problem of splitting data for k-fold cross-validation, where class proportions must be preserved, with additional constraint that data is divided into groups that cannot be split into different cross-validation sets. This problem often occurs in e.g. medical data processing, where data samples from one patient must be included in the same cross-validation set. As this problem is NP-complete, a heuristic...

Wind Turbines Modeling as the Tool for Developing Algorithms of Processing their Video Recordings
PublikacjaIn the real world, many factors exist disturbing observation of the examined phenomena and causing various noises and distortions in recorded signals. It very often makes it difficult or even impossible to optimize various signal processing algorithms, through finding appropriate parameters. In this paper, we show an application, that retrieves wind turbine rotor speed from recorded video. Next, we describe the process of reduction...

Proposition of the methodology for Data Acquisition, Analysis and Visualization in support of Industry 4.0
PublikacjaIndustry 4.0 offers a comprehensive, interlinked, and holistic approach to manufacturing. It connects physical with digital and allows for better collaboration and access across departments, partners, vendors, product, and people. Consequently, it involves complex designing of highly specialized state of the art technologies. Thus, companies face formidable challenges in the adoption of these new technologies....

Evaluation and application of data from road weather stations for winter maintenance management
PublikacjaThe paper presents the analysis of road weather data from meteorological stations located at the Polish national roads of Pomerania District during the impact of winter conditions. Presented issue is particularly important from the point of view the problem of winter maintenance and especially for prediction and assurance of quality of asphalt pavement surface ie. resistance to low temperature cracking or risk of glazed frost....

A Solution to Image Processing with Parallel MPI I/O and Distributed NVRAM Cache
PublikacjaThe paper presents a new approach to parallel image processing using byte addressable, non-volatile memory (NVRAM). We show that our custom built MPI I/O implementation of selected functions that use a distributed cache that incorporates NVRAMs located in cluster nodes can be used for efficient processing of large images. We demonstrate performance benefits of such a solution compared to a traditional implementation without NVRAM...

Investigation on stability of mountainous EUPOS sites’ coordinates
PublikacjaThe paper concerns analysis of solutions obtained during common processing of data from GNSS permanent stations situated on mountainous terrain: the Western Carpathians, the Sudetes Mountains and adjacent areas. As the outcome daily and weekly solutions (ellipsoidal coordinates) of forty Polish, Czech, Slovak, Ukrainian and German sites were obtained. Weekly solutions were used to determine velocity field and vertical movements,...

A nine-input 1.25 mW, 34 ns CMOS analog median filter for image processing in real time
PublikacjaIn this paper an analog voltage-mode median filter, which operates on a 3 × 3 kernel is presented. The filter is implemented in a 0.35 μm CMOS technology. The proposed solution is based on voltage comparators and a bubble sort configuration. As a result, a fast (34 ns) time response with low power consumption (1.25 mW for 3.3 V) is achieved. The key advantage of the configuration is relatively high accuracy of signal processing,...

Simulation model of IMS/NGN call processing performance
PublikacjaIn current telecommunications it is assumed that demands of the information society for quickly delivered services will be satisfied by the Next Generation Network (NGN) architecture, which includes IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) elements. To guarantee Quality of Service (QoS), proper design and dimensioning of NGN is absolutely necessary, for which appropriate models have to be proposed. As the NGN architecture is very complicated,...

Food Bioactive Ingredients Processing Using Membrane Distillation
PublikacjaSeparation processes are an important part of today’s food industries, especially in the case of specific bioactive components due to their health benefits. In general, processing of bioactive food ingredients assumes the introduction of integrated system directed to their separation, fractionation, and recovery. Recently, membrane distillation (MD) has been considered as an alternative membrane-based separation and concentration...

RENOVATION OF ARCHIVE AUDIO RECORDINGS USING SPARSE AUTOREGRESSIVE MODELING AND BIDIRECTIONAL PROCESSING
PublikacjaThe paper presents a new approach to elimination of broadband noise and impulsive disturbances from archive audio recordings. The proposed adaptive Kalman-like algorithm, based on a sparse autoregressive model of the audio signal, simultaneously detects noise pulses, interpolates the irrevocably distorted samples and performs signal smoothing. It is shown that bidirectional (forward-backward) processing of the archive signal improves...

A Text as a Set of Research Data. A Number of Aspects of Data Acquisition and Creation of Datasets in Neo-Latin Studies
PublikacjaIn this paper, the authors, who specialise in part in neo-Latin studies and the his-tory of early modern education, share their experiences of collecting sources for Open Research Data sets under the Bridge of Data project. On the basis of inscription texts from St. Mary’s Church in Gdańsk, they created 29 Open Research Data sets. In turn, the text of the lectures of the Gdańsk scholar Michael Christoph Hanow, Praecepta de arte...

Testing the Effect of Bathymetric Data Reduction on the Shape of the Digital Bottom Model
PublikacjaDepth data and the digital bottom model created from it are very important in the inland and coastal water zones studies and research. The paper undertakes the subject of bathymetric data processing using reduction methods and examines the impact of data reduction according to the resulting representations of the bottom surface in the form of numerical bottom models. Data reduction is an approach that is meant to reduce the size...

Enhanced uniform data sampling for constrained data‐driven modeling of antenna input characteristics
PublikacjaData-driven surrogates are the most popular replacement models utilized in many fields of engineering and science, including design of microwave and antenna structures. The primary practical issue is a curse of dimensionality which limits the number of independent parameters that can be accounted for in the modelling process. Recently, a performance-driven modelling technique has been proposed where the constrained domain of the...
