PROGRAMMABLE YANG - BASED INTERFACE IN CONTROL OF OPTICAL TRANSPORT NETWORK
PublikacjaSince over a decade we observe intensive effort of research institutions and industrial consortia on extending flexibility and automation of the transport network control also known under the term network programmability. Key aspect of each programming interface is ability to evolve but also sensitivity to future modifications. As indicated in the past work in the specific context of optical transport networks an important criterion...

Gesture Recognition With the Linear Optical Sensor and Recurrent Neural Networks
PublikacjaIn this paper, the optical linear sensor, a representative of low-resolution sensors, was investigated in the multiclass recognition of near-field hand gestures. The recurrent neural network (RNN) with a gated recurrent unit (GRU) memory cell was utilized as a gestures classifier. A set of 27 gestures was collected from a group of volunteers. The 27 000 sequences obtained were divided into training, validation, and test subsets....

Optical method for verification of homogeneity of phantoms for calibration of magnetic resonance
PublikacjaThe primary purpose of this study was to develop a laboratory photonic set-up for characterisation of homogeneity of gel phantoms for calibration of magnetic resonance. In this system, optical coherence tomography allows the detection of micro- and macroscopic heterogeneities of a structure. The set-up was used to perform measurements of agar and agar-carrageenan gels, which are the basis for more complex phantoms for magnetic...

Studies on optical transmittance of boron-doped nanocrystalline diamond films
PublikacjaThickness is one of the most important parameters in many applications using thin layers. This article describes thickness determination of a boron-doped nanocrystalline diamond (NCD) grown on fused silica glass. A spectroscopic measurement system has been used. A high refractive index (2.3 at 550nm) was achieved for NCD films. The thickness of NCD samples has been determined from the transmission spectrum.

Spectroscopic Optical Coherence Tomography for Thin Layer and Foil Measurements
PublikacjaThe main goal of this research was to assess if it is possible to evaluate the thickness of thin layers (both thin films on the surface and thin layers below the surface of the tested object) and foils using optical coherence tomography (OCT) for thickness assessment under the resolution of the standard commercially available OCT measurement system. In the proposed solution, light backscattered from the evaluated thin layer has...

Pose classification in the gesture recognition using the linear optical sensor
PublikacjaGesture sensors for mobile devices, which have a capability of distinguishing hand poses, require efficient and accurate classifiers in order to recognize gestures based on the sequences of primitives. Two methods of poses recognition for the optical linear sensor were proposed and validated. The Gaussian distribution fitting and Artificial Neural Network based methods represent two kinds of classification approaches. Three types...

Disaster Resilience of Optical Networks: State of the Art, Challenges, and Opportunities
PublikacjaFor several decades, optical networks, due to their high capacity and long-distance transmission range, have been used as the major communication technology to serve network traffic, especially in the core and metro segments of communication networks. Unfortunately, our society has often experienced how the correct functioning of these critical infrastructures can be substantially hindered by massive failures triggered by natural...

Measurements of the optical and thermal properties of the 2D black phosphorus coating
PublikacjaBlack phosphorus is a 2D material, which properties are still being discovered. In this paper, the sensitivity to the temperature of a few-layer black phosphorus coating deposited, on the surface of a microsphere-based fiber-optic sensor, by a dip-coating method is presented. The coating was investigated after 2, 3, and 5 deposition cycles and during temperature growth from 50 °C to 300 °C in an interferometric setup. The intensity...

Surface quality control of a thin SiN layer by optical measurements
PublikacjaFiber optic interferometers have a wide range of applications, including biological and chemical measurements. Nevertheless, in the case of a reflective interferometer setup, standard silver mirrors cannot be used in every measurement, due to their chemical activity. This work investigates the surface quality of a thin optical layer of silicon nitride (SiN), which can serve as an alternative material for silver mirrors. We present...

Optimal inputs in pharmacokinetics model's identification
Zadanie...

The equations for interactions of polarization modes in optical fibres including the kerr effect
PublikacjaWe have derived coupled nonlinear Schro¨ dinger equations (CNLSE) for arbitrary polarized light propagation in a single-mode fibre employing electromagnetic field complete description. We used a basis of transverse eigenmodes with appropriate projecting; hence, the nonlinear constants depend on the waveguide geometry. Accounting for a weak nonlinearity, which is connected to the Kerr effect, we have given explicit expressions for...
