Modeling and Accuracy Assessment of Determining the Coastline Course Using Geodetic, Photogrammetric and Satellite Measurement Methods: Case Study in Gdynia Beach in Poland
PublicationThe coastal environment represents a resource from both a natural and economic point of view, but it is subject to continuous transformations due to climate change, human activities, and natural risks. Remote sensing techniques have enormous potential in monitoring coastal areas. However, one of the main tasks is accurately identifying the boundary between waterbodies such as oceans, seas, lakes or rivers, and the land surface....

Porównanie przebiegu enzymatycznej hydrolizy oleju rzepakowego i strukturyzowanych lipidów zawierających kwas behenowy. The comparision on the course of enzymatic hydrolysis of rapeseed oil and structured lipids containing behenoic acid.
PublicationPorównywano przebieg enzymatycznej hydrolizy oleju rzepakowego i strukturyzowanych lipidów zawierających kwas behenowy (C22:0).

Skład i zawartość kwasów tłuszczowych w mleku kobiet z gdańska i okolic w różnych okresach laktacji = Fatty acid composition in breast milk of women from gdańsk and the surrounding district in the course of lactation
Skład i...

Przebieg wpracowywania kwarcowych złóż filtracyjnych przeznaczonych do usuwania manganu i azotu amonowego z wód podziemnych. The course of ripenining of quartz sand filter beds used for manganese and ammonium nitrogen removal from the groundwaters.
PublicationPrzeprowadzone badania wykazały, ze czas wpracowywania się kwarcowego złoża filtracyjnego w procesie odmanganiania i nitryfikacji trwał od 7 do 8 tygodni (złoże wpracowywało się jednocześnie w obu procesach) Wpracowanie uzyskano filtrując napowietrzoną wodę podziemną o stosunkowo wysokich stężeniach manganu (0,6 - 1,1 mg/l) i azotu amonowego (0,4 - 1,4 mgN/l) i niewielkich stężeniach żelaza (poniżej 0,5 mg/l). Influence of bush wear in water lubricated marine stern tube bearings with shaft misalignment
PublicationWater lubricated propeller shaft bearings are frequently employed on modern ships due to their advantages such as durability, simplicity and low price. Specific working conditions on ships cause shaft misalignment which often results in rapid wearing of bush and shaft. Shaft misalignment could be an effect of manufacturing or assembly faults but sometimes it appears due to hull or shaft deformation. The wearing process has influence...

Non invasive optical cellular imaging in humans.
PublicationOne of the most appealing and still unsolved problems in biological and medical imaging is the possibility of noninvasive visualization of tissue in vivo with an accuracy of microscopic examination. A major difficulty to solve in biomedical imaging is a degradation of image quality caused by the presence of optical inhomogeneity of tissue. Is there any chance to develop a microscopic method that allows non-invasive observation...

Study on Microstructural Characterization, Mechanical Properties and Residual Stress of GTAW Dissimilar Joints of P91 and P22 Steels
PublicationThis article deals with the dissimilar joining of two different grade Cr-Mo steel (2.25Cr-1Mo: P22 and modified 9Cr-1Mo: P91) for power plant application. The dissimilar butt-welded joint was produced for conventional V groove design by using the gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) process with the application of an ERNiCrMo-3 Ni-based super alloy filler. A microstructure characterization was performed to measure the inhomogeneity...

On stress singularity near the tip of a crack with surface stresses
PublicationIn the framework of the simplified linear Gurtin–Murdoch surface elasticity we discuss a singularity of stresses and displacements in the vicinity of a mode III crack. We show that inhomogeneity in surface elastic properties may significantly affect the solution and to change the order of singularity. We also demonstrate that implicitly or explicitly assumed symmetry of the problem may also lead to changes in solutions. Considering...

In this approach wavelet analysis was used to analyse the esophageal pH-metry course. The research was performed on three groups of pH-metry courses: whole 24-hour pH-metry course, sleep only pH-metry course and 20 minutes after the end of a meal pH-metry course. After...

Wpływ struktur wsparcia na efektywność nauczania języka pisanego w środowisku e-learningowym
PublicationThe process of knowledge and language skills development during an online course can be very effective if student engagement in learning is achieved. This can be attained by introducing general and specific support mechanisms prior to the commencement of the course and during it. The former relates to the technological aspect, that is to familiarizing students with the functionalities of the virtual learning environment they will...

Diagnostics of high-voltage varistor quality using resonant ultrasound spectroscopy
PublicationResonant spectroscopy is an effective nondestructive testing method focused on defects detection in tested objects. Resonance spectrum contains an information about the mechanical properties and particularly about the structural homogeneity of the whole object. A swept frequency method has been used to measure the selected resonant frequencies range. The system for measurement of resonant ultrasound spectroscopy of high-voltage...

Quantum-state transfer in spin chains via isolated resonance of terminal spins
PublicationWe propose a quantum-state transfer protocol in a spin chain that requires only the control of the spins at the ends of the quantum wire. The protocol is to a large extent insensitive to inhomogeneity caused by local magnetic fields and perturbation of exchange couplings. Moreover, apart from the free evolution regime, it allows one to induce an adiabatic spin transfer, which provides the possibility of performing the transfer...

Wave transmission across surface interfaces in lattice structures
PublicationWithin the lattice dynamics formulation, we present an exact solution for anti-plane surface waves in a square lattice strip with a surface row of material particles of two types separated by a linear interface. The considered problem is a discrete analog of an elastic half-space with surface stresses modelled through the simplified Gurtin–Murdoch model, where we have an interfacial line separating areas with different surface...
