The New Chinese Civil Code and its contribution to Sustainable Development
PublicationThe first civil code of the People’s Republic of China in the history was adopted by the 13th National People’s Congress in Beijing on 28 May 2020 and will enter into effect on 1 January 2021. The new civil code puts much more emphasis on the sustainable development and protection of the environment and because of that, the Chinese private law has begun to respond to ecological problems as well. The...

Shear Cap Size Selection Method Based on Parametric Analysis of ACI-318 Code and Eurocode 2 Standard
PublicationThe scope of the paper is to propose a method for determining the size of shear caps in a slab–column-connections-reinforced concrete structure. Usually, shear heads are used to enhance slab–column connection, especially when the transverse reinforcement does not give the required punching shear load capacity. The dimensions of the shear head should provide the punching shear resistance of the connection inside and outside the...

Establishment of the Right of Electricity Transmission Easement Through Court Proceedings
PublicationIncluding the amendment of the Civil Code Act on May 30, 2008, issues related to the right of easement of transmission were introduced to it. Such a regulation was necessary in view of the need to define the legal status of transmission facilities, existing and designed on real estate property. The purpose of the study is to analyze issues related to the definition of the spatial extent of the law of transmission easement for power...

Investigating an Optimal Computational Strategy to Retrofit Buildings with Implementing Viscous Dampers
PublicationCivil engineering structures may seriously suffer from different damage states re-sult of earthquakes. Nowadays, retrofitting the existing buildings is a serious need among designers. Two important factors of required performance level and cost of retrofitting play a crucial role in the retrofitting approach. In this study, a new optimal computational strategy to retrofit structures by implementing linear Viscous Dampers (VDs)...

Failure mode prediction for composite structural insulated panels with MgO board facings
PublicationSandwich panels are readily used in civil engineering due to their high strength to weight ratio and the ease and speed of assembly. The idea of a sandwich section is to combine thin and durable facings with a light-weight core and the choice of materials used allows obtaining the desired behaviour. Panels in consideration consist of MgO (magnesium oxide) board facings and expanded polystyrene core and are characterized by immunity...

Number of selected entities (companies) of the national economy in 2008 - 2017
Open Research DataCurrently, most enterprises in Poland are run as sole proprietorships. In addition, natural persons running a business may run an enterprise as part of civil partnerships, which are a relatively simple form of business operation by more than one person (at least two partners). In addition, there is a growing interest in establishing commercial law companies,...

Moment resistance of I-section end-plate roof girder splices; a case study
PublicationThis article deals with the problem of determining the resistance of end-plate connections. A nonlinear FEM model of the joint was constructed in order to predict its carrying capacity. A standard code procedure was done as well. The analyses have been done to assess atypical end-plate joints designed and constructed as a part of roof structures.

A graphical approach to yield and boundary surfaces of selected hypoplastic constitutive equations
PublicationThe article describes how to identify the boundary and yield surface for hypoplastic constitutive equations proposed by Wu, Gudehus and Bauer. It is shown how to identify and plot the surfaces for any equation in this class. Calculation errors are analyzed characteristic for appleid set of numerical formulas. In the paper there are computer links to the source code prepared in the MATLAB system, based on istructions in the article....

Numerical analysis on axial capacity of steel built-up battened columns
PublicationThis paper deals with the numerical analysis aimed at study the bearing capacity of pinended steel built-up columns under axial compression. Finite element (FE) models were performed for the columns presented in the literature. The main problem discussed in the article is the shape and magnitude of geometric imperfections introduced into the numerical FE model, necessary to obtain the load capacity consistent with the experimental...

Flexural behavior of composite structural insulated panels with magnesium oxide board facings
PublicationThe current report is devoted to the flexural analysis of a composite structural insulated panel (CSIP) with magnesium oxide board facings and expanded polystyrene (EPS) core, that was recently introduced to the building industry. An advanced nonlinear FE model was created in the ABAQUS environment, able to simulate the CSIP’s flexural behavior in great detail. An original custom code procedure was developed, which allowed to include...

Experimental Testing of Innovative Cold-Formed "GEB" Section / Badania Eksperymentalne Innowacyjnego Kształtownika Giętego Na Zimno Typu „Geb“
PublicationOne of the major advantages of light gauge steel structures made of cold-formed steel sections is their low weight, so manufacturers are increasingly using the possibilities of those sections for the production of typical single-storey steel structures systems. Well known profiles, such as Z, C and the so called hat sections that have been studied and described in the literature, are used mainly as purlins or truss components....

PublicationW ostatnich latach w Chińskiej Republice Ludowej ponownie pojawiły się ożywione dyskusje i zaawansowane prace legislacyjne nad kształtem nowej całościowej chińskiej kodyfikacji prawa cywilnego.
