Wireless LAN with noncooperative anonymous stations: QOS provisioning via war of attrition
PublicationMAC-layer QoS provision necessitates an admission scheme to grant a requested QoS notwithstanding subse-quent requests. For an ad hoc WLAN with anonymous stations, we assume a degree of power awareness to propose a session- rather than frame-level bidding for bandwidth. Next we analyze the underlying Bayesian war of attrition game.

Charakterystyka korozji typu pylenie metalu w rafineryjnej instalacji platformingu CCR
PublicationW artykule przedstawiono charakterystykę procesu pylenia metalu w stali 9Cr-1Mo eksploatowanej w piecach instalacji platformingu CCR. Wykazano, że mechanizm niszczenia stali nie zależy od czasu eksploatacji i od stopnia konwersji wsadu, a krótkotrwały wzrost stężenia związków siarki we wsadzie może zwiększyć szybkość tworzenia pyłu.

Molecular dynamics and verisimilitude - to what extent can one trust a computational simulation?
PublicationFor the last several tens of years, computer simulations have become of undeniable importance. Molecular Dynamics (MD) simulation techniques are used to examine the phenomena which occur at the level that cannot be observed directly. Thus, they can be successfully exploited in many different scientific fields such as: materials science, applied mathematics and theoretical physics, biochemistry, biophysics or drug design. Despite...

Changing by light - how the lighting of intelligent spaces can influence the urban image
PublicationIn the article light will be presented as a tool in the process of transforming the urban space. The reason for this use of light is the commercial aspect of space that forces it to be still competitive and profitable. Such a need gives rise to many innovative solutions in the city space, which allow transmitting information in order to attract human attention, and sometimes make it even possible to involve the user in the interaction...

Can sodium 1-alkylsulfonates participate in the sodium dodecyl sulfate micelle formation?
PublicationThe aggregation behavior of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) was studied in an aqueous solution in the presence of increasing concentrations of selected sodium 1-alkylsulfonates, namely sodium 1-octanesulfonate, sodium 1-decanesulfonate, and sodium 1-dodecanesufonate. The critical micelle concentration (CMC) of SDS was determined by conductivity and fluorescence intensity measurements. The steady-state fluorescence quenching experiments...

Computer-aided analysis of resonance risk in power system with Static Var Compensators
PublicationStatic Var Compensators operation in a power system may significantly improve voltage profiles in nodes and the reactive power balance, as well as ensure greater system stability in emergency conditions. However these devices may be a cause of a resonance in the system. The aim of this paper is to call attention to the need to include resonance phenomena in a compensator’s location evaluation process. The analysis performed in...

AUTOMATIC LEARNING OF STRATEGY AND RULES IN CARD GAMES USING IMAGE FROM CAMERA
PublicationBelow work tries to answer a question: if it is possible to replace real human with computer system in social games. As a subject for experiments, card games were chosen, because they require a lot of player interaction (playing and taking cards), while their rules are easy to present in form of clear list of statements. Such a system, should allow real players to play without constant worrying about guiding or helping computer...

W smarowanych, stalowych parach ciernych zachodzi katalityczna, chemisorbcyjna dysocjacja węglowodorów zawartych w smarze. Opisano badania wpływu tej dysocjacji na sprężyste i tłumiące własności próbek stalowych. Wynik tych badań...

CAD-model construction based on adaptive radial basis functions interpolation technique.
Dodatkowo zastosowany został algorytm adaptacyjnego próbkowania minimalizujący liczbę próbek potrzebnych do konstrukcji modelu.
