Application of atmospheric pressure microwave plasma source for hydrogen production from ethanol
PublicationIn contrast to conventional technologies of hydrogen production like water electrolysis or coal gasification we propose a method based on the atmospheric pressure microwave plasma. In this paper we present results of the experimental investigations of the hydrogen production from ethanol in the atmospheric pressure plasma generated in waveguidesupplied cylindrical type nozzleless microwave (915 MHz and 2.45 GHz) plasma source (MPS)....

Relations between magnetosonic perturbations as an indicator of a magnetosonic exciter and equilibrium parameters of a plasma
PublicationThe thermodynamic relations between perturbation of pressure and pertur- bation of mass density and between components of velocity which specify a magnetosonic wave are theoretically studied. A planar flow with the wave vec- tor forming a constant angle with the equilibrium magnetic field is investigated. The theory considers deviation from the adiabaticity of a flow due to some kind of heating–cooling function and thermal conduction...

The impact of cold plasma on the phenolic composition and biogenic amine content of red wine
PublicationThe effect of cold plasma (CP) on phenolic compound (PC) and biogenic amine (BA) contents of red wine was investigated for the first time. The influence of CP was compared with the effects of a wine preservation using potassium metabisulfite and a combined method. The PC profile was determined by UPLC-PDA-MS/MS while BAs using DLLME-GC–MS. Chemometric analysis also was used. The content of PCs was 3.1% higher in the sample preserved...

Entrained Flow Plasma Gasification of Sewage Sludge–Proof-of-Concept and Fate of Inorganics
PublicationSewage sludge is a residue of wastewater processing that is biologically active and consists of water, organic matter, including dead and living pathogens, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, and heavy metals, as well as organic and inorganic pollutants. Landfilling is on the decline, giving way to more environmentally friendly utilisation routes. This paper presents the results of a two-stage gasification–vitrification system, using...

Determination of Metals Content in Wine Samples by Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectrometry
PublicationKnowledge about the metal content of wine is very important, for many reasons. Depending on the element, its quantity varies in wine from ng/L to mg/L. Despite the fact that metals are not directly connected to the taste and aroma of the wine, their content should be determined and controlled, because excess is undesirable, and in some cases prohibited, due to potential toxicity. Several analytical procedures for metal determination...

Nonlinear Excitation of the Non-Wave Perturbations by the Magnetoacoustic Waves in the Non-Isentropic Plasma
PublicationNonlinear excitation of slow modes by the planar magnetosonic perturbations in a plasma is discussed. Plasma is an open system due to radiation and external heating. This may stipulate enhancement of wave perturbations and hence the acoustical activity of plasma. Plasma is assumed to be a homogeneous ideal gas with infinite electrical conductivity. The straight magnetic field is orthogonal to the velocity of fluid’s...

Magnetoacoustic Heating in Nonisentropic Plasma Caused by Different Kinds of Heating-Cooling Function
PublicationThe nonlinear phenomena which associate with magnetoacoustic waves in a plasma are analytically studied. A plasma is an open system with external inflow of energy and radiation losses. A plasma’s flow may be isentropically stable or unstable. The nonlinear phenomena occur differently in dependence on stability or instability of a plasma’s flow. The nonlinear instantaneous equation which describes dynamics of nonwave entropy mode...

Spectroscopic Study of Plasma Polymerized a-C:H Films Deposited by a Dielectric Barrier Discharge
PublicationPlasma polymerized a-C:H thin films have been deposited on Si (100) and aluminum coated glass substrates by a dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) operated at medium pressure using C2Hm/Ar (m = 2, 4, 6) gas mixtures. The deposited films were characterized by Fourier transform infrared reflection absorption spectroscopy (FT-IRRAS), Raman spectroscopy, and ellipsometry. FT-IRRAS revealed the presence of sp3 and sp2 C–H stretching and...

Plany rozwoju przestrzennego jako kontynuacja rozwoju międzywojennej wizji
PublicationPowstanie i rozwój Gdyni nierozerwalnie wiążą się z okresem dwudziestolecia międzywojennego. Podjęte wówczas decyzje zadecydowały o kierunkach rozwoju śródmieścia, a współczesne przekształcenia wpisują się zarysowane ponad 80 lat temu kierunki. Artykuł dotyczy zagadnienia kontynuacji wizji urbanistycznej Gdyni okresu międzywojennego w dzisiejszych czasach, przywołując obecne tendencje i realizowane już inwestycje.

Wykorzystanie komórek Escherichia coli transformowanych genem termostabilnej beta-galaktozydazy z Pyrococcus woesei do wytwarzania galaktozylofruktozy
PublicationKomórki rekombinantowej Escherichia coli transformowane genem beta-galaktozydazy z Pyrococcus woesei wykorzystano jako biokatalizator syntezy galaktozylofruktozy. Największą aktywność syntezy wymienionego prebiotyku (7,6 g/L x godz)uzyskano w 80C przy pH 5,4, stosując jako substrat roztwór zawierający 10% laktozy i 20% fruktozy. Aktywność transgalaktozylacji nie ulegała istotnym zmianom podczas sześciu kolejnych szarż produkcyjnych.
