Effect of Axial Porosities on Flexomagnetic Response of In-Plane Compressed Piezomagnetic Nanobeams
PublicationWe investigated the stability of an axially loaded Euler–Bernoulli porous nanobeam considering the flexomagnetic material properties. The flexomagneticity relates to the magnetization with strain gradients. Here we assume both piezomagnetic and flexomagnetic phenomena are coupled simultaneously with elastic relations in an inverse magnetization. Similar to flexoelectricity, the flexomagneticity is a size-dependent property. Therefore,...

Experimental and numerical evaluation of mechanical behaviour of composite structural insulated panels
PublicationComposite structural insulated panels (CSIPs) are novel prefabricated elements for structural applications. Panels under consideration are made from glass-fibre reinforced magnesia cement boards as facesheets and expanded polystyrene foam (EPS) as a core. Quasi-static full-scale and model bending tests under monotonic loading were performed to recognize mechanical properties of CSIPs in flexure. In addition, tensile, compressive,...

The role of additives in improving the flammability and calorific value of leather shavings and the binding of chromium compounds in ash
PublicationLeather processing companies are struggling with the problem of increasing costs of post-production waste disposal. Therefore, the issue of thermal waste disposal at the plant and the use of generated heat in the production process is becoming more and more popular. Leather waste on its own does not allow for autothermal combustion despite the sufficient higher heating value (HHV). Therefore the Authors proposed to improve the...

Distribution of the displacement sequence of an orientation preserving circle homeomorphism
PublicationIn some applications not only the knowledge of the behaviour of trajectories of a map is important, but also their displacements. We describe in detail the distribution of elements of the displacement sequence along a trajectory of an orientation preserving circle homeomorphism ϕ with irrational rotation number ϱ(ϕ). The values of displacement are dense in a set which depends on the map γ (semi-)conjugating ϕ with the rotation...

Thermal Buckling Analysis of Circular Bilayer Graphene sheets Resting on an Elastic Matrix Based on Nonlocal Continuum Mechanics
PublicationIn this article, the thermal buckling behavior of orthotropic circular bilayer graphene sheets embedded in the Winkler–Pasternak elastic medium is scrutinized. Using the nonlocal elasticity theory, the bilayer graphene sheets are modeled as a nonlocal double–layered plate that contains small scale effects and van der Waals (vdW) interaction forces. The vdW interaction forces between the layers are simulated as a set of linear springs...

Wavepacket of the Universe and its Spreading
PublicationWavepackets in quantum mechanics spread and the Universe in cosmology expands. We discuss a formalism where the two effects can be unified. The basic assumption is that the Universe is determined by a unitarily evolving wavepacket defined on space-time. Space-time is static but the Universe is dynamic. Spreading analogous to expansion known from observational cosmology is obtained if one regards time evolution as a dynamical process...

Flexomagneticity in buckled shear deformable hard-magnetic soft structures
PublicationThis research work performs the first time exploring and addressing the flexomagnetic property in a shear deformable piezomagnetic structure. The strain gradient reveals flexomagneticity in a magnetization phenomenon of structures regardless of their atomic lattice is symmetrical or asymmetrical. It is assumed that a synchronous converse magnetization couples both piezomagnetic and flexomagnetic features into the material structure....

Pile Model Tests Using Strain Gauge Technology
PublicationOrdinary pile bearing capacity tests are usually carried out to determine the relationship between load and displacement of pile head. The measurement system required in such tests consists of force transducer and three or four displacement gauges. The whole system is installed at the pile head above the ground level. This approach, however, does not give us complete information about the pile-soil interaction. We can only determine...

The energy consumption during the birch tree sap concentration process using the reverse osmosis system
PublicationBirch tree sap was concentrated by mens of the reversed osmosis technique. The energy consumption in a small-scale pilot apparatus was estimated. The threshold value for the water removal above which the specific energy consumption significantly increased was identified. Below the threshold value the reversed osmosis had low energy demand and could be an attractive method for the production of birch tree sap-based beverages.

Effect of electrode resistance on admittance spectra of planar organic device carrying SCLC and on charge carrier mobility extracted from susceptance
PublicationThe work presents small signal admittance spectra of a sandwich system with thin organic layer carrying a space charge limited current. The effect of series resistance of electrodes on the spectra is discussed. Spectra of small signal capacitance are added to get more detailed insight. The analysis performed shows that the series resistance can affect both parts of small signal response within a whole range of frequency. Moreover,...
