RNS/TCS CONVERTER DESIGN USING HIGH-LEVEL SYNTHESIS IN FPGA
PublicationAn experimental high-level synthesis (HLS) of the residue number system (RNS) to two’s-complement system (TCS) converter in the Vivado Xilinx FPGA environment is shown. The assumed approach makes use of the Chinese Remainder Theorem I (CRT I). The HLS simplifies and accelerates the design and implementation process, moreover the HLS synthesized architecture requires less hardware by about 20% but the operational frequency is smaller...

Fractional Problems with Right-Handed Riemann-Liouville Fractional Derivatives
PublicationIn this paper, we investigate the existence of solutions for advanced fractional differential equations containing the right-handed Riemann-Liouville fractional derivative both with nonlinear boundary conditions and also with initial conditions given at the end point T of interval [0,T ]. We use both the method of successive approximations, the Banach fixed point theorem and the monotone iterative technique, as well. Linear problems...

Dynamics of Field Line Mappings in Magnetic Flux Tubes
PublicationWe study the topological constraints on the dynamics of magnetic field lines in flux tubes. Our approach is based on the application of the topological invariant: fixed point index. We consider periodic flux tubes and find various restrictions on the field lines that come from the sequence of fixed point indices of iterations. We also analyze the case of a tube with a cylindrical obstacle, deducing some special dynamical properties...

Zero-knowledge convincing protocol on quantum bit is impossible
PublicationIt is one of fundamental features of quantum formalism that o n one hand it provides a new infor- mation processing resources and on the other hand puts funda mental constraints on the processing of quantum information implying “no-go” theorems for cloni ng [1–3], bit commitment [4, 5] and deleting [6] in quantum theory. Here we ask about possibilit y of “zero knowledge” scenario which, for its simplicity, can be considered as...

Integrable zero-range potentials in a plane
PublicationWe examine general statements in the Wronskian representation of Darboux transformations for plane zero-range potentials. Such expressions naturally contain scattering problem solution. We also apply Abel theorem to Wronskians for differential equations and link it to chain equations for Darboux transforms to fix conditions for further development of the underlying distribution concept. Moutard transformations give a convenient...

Mining Knowledge of Respiratory Rate Quantification and Abnormal Pattern Prediction
PublicationThe described application of granular computing is motivated because cardiovascular disease (CVD) remains a major killer globally. There is increasing evidence that abnormal respiratory patterns might contribute to the development and progression of CVD. Consequently, a method that would support a physician in respiratory pattern evaluation should be developed. Group decision-making, tri-way reasoning, and rough set–based analysis...

Discrete and continuous fractional persistence problems – the positivity property and applications
PublicationIn this article, we study the continuous and discrete fractional persistence problem which looks for the persistence of properties of a given classical (α=1) differential equation in the fractional case (here using fractional Caputo’s derivatives) and the numerical scheme which are associated (here with discrete Grünwald–Letnikov derivatives). Our main concerns are positivity, order preserving ,equilibrium points and stability...

Thermo-resonance analysis of an excited graphene sheet using a new approach
PublicationForced vibration of graphene nanoplate based on a refined plate theory in conjunction with higher-order nonlocal strain gradient theory in the thermal environment has been investigated. Regarding the higher-order nonlocal strain gradient theory, both stress nonlocality and size-dependent effects are taken into account, so the equilibrium equations which are governing on the graphene sheet have been formulated by the theory....

Mathematical analysis of a generalised p53-Mdm2 protein gene expression model
PublicationWe propose the generalisation of the p53-Mdm2 protein gene expression model introduced by Monk (2003). We investigate the stability of a unique positive steady state and formulate conditions which guarantee the occurrence of the Hopf bifurcation. We show that oscillatory behaviour can be caused not only by time lag in protein transcription process, but also can be present in the model without time delay. Moreover, we investigate...

Homoclinic and Heteroclinic Orbits for a Class of Singular Planar Newtonian Systems
PublicationThe study of existence and multiplicity of solutions of differential equations possessing a variational nature is a problem of great meaning since most of them derives from mechanics and physics. In particular, this relates to Hamiltonian systems including Newtonian ones. During the past thirty years there has been a great deal of progress in the use of variational methods to find periodic, homoclinic and heteroclinic solutions...

Standing Waves in a Rectangular Resonator Containing Acoustically Active Gases
PublicationThe distribution of perturbations of pressure and velocity in a rectangular resonator is considered. A resonator contains a gas where thermodynamic processes take place, such as exothermic chemical reaction or excitation of vibrational degrees of a molecule’s freedom. These processes make the gas acoustically active under some conditions. We conclude that the incident and reflected compounds of a sound beam do not interact in the...

Subharmonic solutions for a class of Lagrangian systems
PublicationWe prove that second order Hamiltonian systems with a potential of class C1, periodic in time and superquadratic at infinity with respect to the space variable have subharmonic solutions. Our intention is to generalise a result on subharmonics for Hamiltonian systems with a potential satisfying the global Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz condition from [P. H. Rabinowitz, Proc. Roy. Soc. Edinburgh Sect. A, 114 (1990), 33-38]. Indeed, we weaken...

Asymptotic behaviour in the set of nonhomogeneous chains of stochastic operators
PublicationWe study different types of asymptotic behaviour in the set of (infinite dimensional) nonhomogeneous chains of stochastic operators acting on L1(μ) spaces. In order to examine its structure we consider different norm and strong operator topologies. To describe the nature of the set of nonhomogeneous chains of Markov operators with a particular limit behaviour we use the category theorem of Baire. We show that the geometric structure...

Critical Remarks on Landauer’s principle of erasure– dissipation: Including notes on Maxwell demons and Szilard engines
PublicationWe briefly address Landauer’s Principle and some related issues in thermal demons. We show that an error-free Turing computer works in the zero-entropy limit, which proves Landauer’s derivation incorrect. To have a physical logic gate, memory or information-engine, a few essential components necessary for the operation of these devices are often neglected, such as various aspects of control, damping and the fluctuation–dissipation...

Method of lines for physiologically structured models with diffusion
PublicationWe deal with a size-structured model with diffusion. Partial differential equations are approximated by a large system of ordinary differential equations. Due to a maximum principle for this approximation method its solutions preserve positivity and boundedness. We formulate theorems on stability of the method of lines and provide suitable numerical experiments.
