4-[(tert-Butyldimethylsilyl)oxy]-6-methoxy-7-methyl-5-(oxiran-2-ylmethyl)-2-benzofuran-3(1H)-one
PublicationThe title compound, C19H28O5Si, was obtained in the reaction of 1,3-dihydro-4-[(tert-butyldimethylsilyl)oxy]-6-methoxy-7-methyl-3-oxo-5-(prop-2-enyl)isobenzofuran with meta-chloroperbenzoic acid. This reaction is one of the stages of the total synthesis of mycophenolic acid, which we attempted to modify. The title compound forms crystals with only weak intermolecular interactions. The strongest stacking interaction is found between...

A Novel [4+2] Cycloaddition Reaction Involving Lawesson’s Reagent. Structure and Specific Fragmentations of a New Cyclic 1,2-Thiaphosphinane-4-one
PublicationA crude morpholine enamine of acetone treated with Lawesson’s reagent unexpectedly yielded a six-membered thiaphosphinane-4-one. This compound is the first example of a new class of heterocycles. It has been proven that it is formed from 4-methyl-2-morpholino-1,3-pentadiene which is usually present in crude morpholine enamine batches. A mechanism of this regioselective reaction was postulated and a characteristic chair-like conformation...

Novel anticancer strategy aimed at targeting shelterin complexes by the induction of structural changes in telomeric DNA: hitting two birds with one stone.
PublicationThe ends of chromosomes in mammals are composed of telomeric DNA containing TTAGGG repeats, which bind specific proteins called shelterins. This telomeric DNA together with shelterins form a cap that protects the ends of chromosomes from being recognized as sites of DNA damage and from chromosomal fusions. Many very successful antitumor drugs used in the treatment of cancer patients bind to DNA, some of them with a prominent sequence...

Ring Opening of Triflates Derived from Benzophospholan-3-one Oxides by Aryl Grignard Reagents as a Route to 2‑Ethynylphenyl(diaryl)phosphine Oxides
PublicationA new simple method for the synthesis of 2-ethynylphenyl(diaryl)phosphine oxides via ring opening of benzophosphol-3-yl triflates has been developed. This process occurs via nucleophilic attack of a Grignard reagent at the phosphorus center, which results in ring opening and cleavage of a leaving group. The reaction proceeds under mild conditions and, within 15−60 min, leads to a library of previously unavailable 2-ethynylphenylphosphine...

A novel one-variable first-order shear deformation theory for biaxial buckling of a size-dependent plate based on Eringen’s nonlocal differential law
PublicationPurpose – This paper aims to present a new one-variable first-order shear deformation theory (OVFSDT) using nonlocal elasticity concepts for buckling of graphene sheets. Design/methodology/approach – The FSDT had errors in its assumptions owing to the assumption of constant shear stress distribution along the thickness of the plate, even though by using the shear correction factor (SCF), it has been slightly corrected, the errors...
